Pickerill, Rebecca Denham   

Rebecca Denham Pickerill, 56, of Terre Haute passed away early Wednesday morning,
Aug. 6, 2008 at Union Hospital. She was born on Oct. 10, 1951 in Terre Haute to Richard
and Norma Smith Denham. She worked at Columbia House Records for over 30 years as a
supervisor, and later went on to working at Indiana State University in International Student
Services. Her granddaughters were her life, and she loved to work. Survivors include a
son, Scott Pickerill and wife Mary of Terre Haute; granddaughters, Ali and Linsey Renfro;
two brothers, Richard Denham and wife Cheryl of Orange Park, Fla., and Gary Denham
and wife Becky of Terre Haute. Other survivors are a grandmother, Joy Smith and her
family, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and aunts and
uncles. She has also left behind two very close and special friends, Marsha Mackey and
Diane Dolby and her loving chocolate lab, Hershey.She was preceded in death by her
parents, and her grandfather, Ralph C. Smith.Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Saturday at Roselawn Memorial Park’s Chapel of Memories. Services are 12:30 p.m. in the
Chapel of Memories with Pastor Aaron Wheaton officiating. Cremation has been chosen.
Inurnment in Roselawn Memorial Park will be at a later date (September 2, 2008).

Wilson, Keith C.    

CLINTON — Keith C. Wilson, 82, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008. A longtime resident of
Clinton. Keith was born in Terre Haute, on May 28. 1926.Survivors include a son, Ben
Wilson and his wife Kathie of Algonquin, Ill.; daughters, Toni Wilson of Terre Haute and
RaeLynn Boes and her husband Mark of Lafayette; three grandsons; and three great-
grandsons.Keith was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Lucy Wilson, on April 26,
2008; and his daughter, Mary Joyce Quinn, on Feb. 23, 1995.Keith was a decorated
World War II Army veteran. He married Lucy Musial on Aug. 3, 1947, and they raised four
children. He was a devoted husband and hardworking father who enjoyed hunting,
camping, boating, fishing and traveling. Keith also was a member of American Legion,
Veterans of Foreign Wars and Teamsters.Funeral services are 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2,
2008, in Frist Funeral Home, 458 Blackman St., in Clinton. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial
Park. Visitation is noon until services at 1 p.m. Tuesday.  
Nieft, Richard Frank    

Richard Frank Nieft, 87, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at Holly Hills
Nursing Home in Brazil. He was born Dec. 27, 1920, in Edgewood, Ill., to Frank Nieft and
Florence Goin Nieft. He retired from the Malleable Foundries. He married Iona Oxford, and
she preceded him in death.Survivors include three sons, Frank Nieft of Douglas, Wyo.,
Ronald Nieft and wife Regina, and John Nieft, all of Terre Haute; 11 grandchildren; 19
great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Nieft, and
Kenny Nieft and wife Ruth, all of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews. He also
was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Howard Nieft. He served in the U.S.
Army during World War II, and was a member of the Nazarene Church. Services are 1 p.m.
Friday at Thomas Funeral Home, 2200 N. 13th St., with the Rev. Larry Mathias officiating.
Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.  
Lyons, Walter Leroy   

Walter Leroy Lyons, 79, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, in Union Hospital. He was
born March 26, 1929, in Terre Haute to Frank and Etta Elizabeth (Thomas) Lyons. He was
a furniture maker who loved woodworking. He made all kinds of children’s furniture, as well
as working in a shop. He also had his own place to work at home. He was a U.S. Army
veteran who served during the Korean WarHe is survived by his wife, Barbara (Von
Kannon) Lyons, whom he married in 1955, a daughter, Kathy McMahan and husband
Gene of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Jimmy Walter Wilson of West Terre Haute, and
Jessica Hawkins and husband Michael of Terre Haute; a great-granddaughter, Taylor
Bryan; one sister, Leona Reynolds of Terre Haute; two nieces and five nephews, Lori Ann
Reynolds of Terre Haute, James Von Kannon and wife Leah of Illinois, David Von Kannon
and wife Shari of Tennessee, Donald Von Kannon and wife Debbie, John Von Kannon,
Christina Homan and husband Sean, and Michael Von Kannon, all of Illinois; many great-
nieces and great-nephews; and a brother-in-law, James Dale Von Kannon and wife Donna
of Macomb, Ill.. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Ernest Richard
Reynolds;and a granddaughter, Charlene Messer.Graveside visitation will be 10 to 11 a.
m. Thursday in Roselawn Memorial Park. Services will be 11 a.m. at the graveside, with
the Rev. Dick Smith officiating. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972 will be preforming
graveside military rites. Thomas Funeral Home assisted in making the arrangements. In

Payne, Lorrayne Mickey "Mick"    

Lorrayne “Mick” “Mickey” Payne, 88, was called home to the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 28,
2008 at 9 p.m. She was born May 1, 1920, in LaCrosse, Wis., to Stanley Banasik and
Anna Hinytzke Banasik. She was an EEG Technician having worked at St. Anthony
Hospital (Where she was the first EEG Technician) and then later at Terre Haute
Regional Hospital.Her husband Donald E. Payne, whom she married April 3, 1944, died
Oct. 20, 1995. She is survived by three sons, Donald C. Payne of Wisconsin, William “Bill”
Payne and his wife Toni of West Terre Haute, and Michael Payne and his wife Rosemarie
of Connecticut; one daughter, Kaye Rasch and her husband Brandon of Houston; one
brother, Floyd Banasik; and nine grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her
parents; and one brother, Leroy “Pee Wee” Banasik. She was very involved in church
having attended both St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and St. Leonard Catholic Church. She
was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, EEG Society and enjoyed bowling.A
memorial mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Leonard Church with the Rev. Bernard
Head officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at DeBaun Funeral Home, 85 E.
Springhill Drive, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. The

Bryant, David D.    

David D. Bryant, 53, of Terre Haute, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, in St. Vincent Hospital,
Indianapolis. He was a truck driver for McGuire Excavating Company. He was born March
6, 1955, in Rantoul, Ill., to Lowell Bryant and Carolyn Everett Bryant.Survivors include two
sons, David Bryant and Shane Bryant, both of Terre Haute; a brother, Doug Bryant and
his wife, Rosalie of Terre Haute; a sister, Deanna Jones and her husband, Gary of Terre
Haute; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. His parents preceded
him in death.David had previously worked for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company. He loved
stock car racing, football and any activities that he could do with his sons and
family.Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, in Callahan
and Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St., with the Rev. Bernie Jackson officiating.

Fagg, William Earl   

William Earl Fagg, 67, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born Nov. 25, 1940, in Terre Haute, to Cecil and Margaret (Nunley) Fagg.
Throughout his childhood and youth, Bill developed an entrepreneurial spirit and
cultivated what would become a lifelong passion for building homes. He graduated from
Garfield High School in 1958, and attended college at Indiana State University. He
worked as a pipe fitter for 30 years, and was a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters
Local 157. He also was the owner of William E. Fagg Construction from 1978 until his
death. He married Marianne Morgan on Dec. 19, 1964, and was a caring and devoted
husband.Bill will be remembered forever as a man of humor, integrity, generosity, and
perseverance. He was quick to offer assistance to those who needed it. His life reflected
hard work, commitment, and honesty. He was a natural provider, who loved and took
care of his wife, and worked multiple jobs to ensure his children were provided college
education’s, and the advantages he did not have.Bill loved building houses and owning
his own business. His vast knowledge of construction will be missed by his family
members and friends, who often turned to him for advice. His favorite past times were
keeping track of current events and reading the Drudge Report. He also enjoyed
traveling, going out to restaurants, and spending time with his friends and family. Bill had
a funny, mischievous sense of humor, and his numerous trademark “stories” made those
close to him laugh.Grateful for having shared Bill’s life are his wife, Marianne Fagg;
daughter, Teresa (Frank) Jaloma of Carmel; son, William Morgan of New Rochelle, N.Y.;
dog, Abbey; two brothers, James (Nancy) Fagg of Crawfordsville, Reay (Julie) Fagg of
Prairie Creek; brothers-in-law, Thomas (Dorothy) Morgan of Lee Summit, Mo., and Mark
(Connie) Morgan of Peoria, Ill.; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was
preceded in death by his father, Cecil Fagg of Terre Haute; and his mother, Margaret
Fagg of Terre Haute. Through his relationships with his family and friends, Bill leaves a

Carpita, Manonia "Mona"    

Manonia “Mona” Carpita, 94, of Terre Haute and Park County, died at 11:50 a.m. on
Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, in Harbour Manor Health and Living Center in Noblesville.
She was born June 17, 1914, in Hillsdale, to Hugh Garlinghouse and Eva Watson
Garlinghouse. She married John Carpita, on June 25, 1939, and he preceded in her in
death, on Feb. 25, 1999.Mona’s loving smile and warm sense of humor will long be
remembered by her survivors which include her sister, Treva Pearson of Florida, and
many nieces, nephews and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; her
husband; brother, Herbert Garlinghouse; sister-in-law, Frances Garlinghouse, died
January 2008; and brother-in-law, Earl Pearson.For 43 years, Mona co-owned with her
husband, the Mona Lisa and Castle Roma Italian Restaurants in Terre Haute. During
that time, they also ran a small farm outside of Rockville. In her early years, she was a
nightclub singer in Indiana and Florida. In later years, she enjoyed playing the organ on
Sundays at her church and for many other events.Graveside services are 2 p.m. today
in Roselawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Joseph Chillington officiating. Burial is in

Akers, Raymond E.    

Raymond E. Akers, 90, of Terre Haute, died at 12:35 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, in
Union Hospital. He was born on July 11, 1918, in Clinton, to Leonard Akers and Loretta
Jeffers Akers. He was a retired supervisor with the Federal Prison in Terre Haute.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Donna “Pat” Holler Akers, whom he married
March 25, 1948; son, Dennis Akers (Jeanell); daughter, Donna Kimball (Scott);
grandchildren, Bo Akers, Loree Akers, Ryan Kimball and Christopher Kimball; and a
great-grandchild, Kylie Kimball. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served
in Patton’s 3rd Army and received the purple heart. He was a life member of Maplewood
Christian Church.Funeral services are 2 p.m. today in Mattox-Wood Funeral Home,
4660 N. Lafayette Avenue, with Pastor Craig Wininger officiating. Burial is in Roselawn

Helen Favre, 100, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, in Union
Hospital surrounded by her family. Helen was born Sept. 4, 1908, in Coal Bluff to John
Watterson and Flora York Watterson. Survivors include her son, Danny Favre and his
wife Shirley of Terre Haute; son-in-law, Darrell Coffin of Terre Haute; special niece,
Sharon Watterson of Terre Haute; special nephew, Leo Akers and his companion Sara
of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Cindy Smith and husband Robert of Ohio, Karen
Kissinger and husband Shawn of Texas, Linda Hudson and companion Gary of Terre
Haute, Deanna McCullough and husband Keith of Florida, Connie Reece and husband
Stu of Riley, Joe Favre and wife Sandy of Terre Haute, and Debbie Dickison and
husband Mark of Clayton; great-nieces, Kim Woolley and husband Ryan and Terri
Fisher, all of Tucson; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She
was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Leo Favre; daughter, Dorothy
Coffin; three sisters; and three brothers.Helen was a homemaker and lifetime member

McGlone, Kathryn    

Kathryn McGlone, 81, of Terre Haute, died at 1:32 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, in her
residence. She was born on Jan. 8, 1927, in Sullivan County, to Walter McCammon and
Edna Willis McCammon. She was a retired bookkeeper from First National
Bank.Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Burgess and her husband Gary of Terre
Haute; one sister, Marjorie Thomas of Sullivan; three grandchildren, Dennis Burgess
and his wife Holly, Heather Farrior and her husband Josh and Kelly Burgess; two
great-grandchildren, Holden Burgess and Julius Farrior; and several nieces and
nephews.She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. Frank Pellizzari, in 1954
and her second husband, Ernest McGlone, in 2006. She was a member of First Prairie

Penman, John "Jay"    

John “Jay” Penman, 87, of Terre Haute passed away early Sunday morning, Sept. 7,
2008, in his home. He was born on Sept. 19, 1920, in Bicknell, to Frank Penman and
Kathryn Grey Penman. He graduated from Garfield High School, and later worked at
Tredigar as a lab technician. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during World War
II. John was a member of Krietenstein Post 104 American Legion, and Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 972. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Gill Penman, whom he
married Nov. 24, 1942; two daughters, Judy Newport of St. Charles, Mo., and Margaret
Hollers and husband Dan of Clinton; grandchildren, John Newport and wife Rhonda of
Moyock, N.C., Angela Newell and husband John of St. Louis, Kaye Vaughan and
husband Bill of Tulsa, Okla., Becky Miller and husband Steve, and Debbe McFall and
husband Matt, all of Clinton; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Aaron, and Joshua Newport,
all of North Carolina, Travis Newell of St. Louis, and Tyler McFall of Clinton; and several
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one
sister. Services are 11 am. Wednesday at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton

Swain, Norma Louise Francis    

Norma Louise Francis Swain, 65, of Terre Haute passed away early Monday morning,
Sept. 8, 2008, at Union Hospital. She was born Oct. 20, 1942, in Terre Haute. She was
a lifetime member of Indiana Old Time Fiddlers.Survivors include her husband, Robert
Swain Sr., whom she married Dec. 29, 1961; children, Robert Swain Jr. and wife
Beverly, Lawrence Swain Sr. and wife Lori Ann, and Deborah Smith and husband Troy
Smith Sr., all of Terre Haute, William Swain Sr. and wife Barbara Jean, and Loretta
Batchelor and husband Ricky, all of Brazil; grandchildren, Natasha Swain, Linda Lou
Swain, Lawrence Swain Jr., and Troy Smith Jr., all of Terre Haute, Clifford Lee Swain,
Brittany Swain, William Swain Jr., and Daria Caldwell, all of Brazil, and Leo Smith and
wife Keela of Hartland, Mich.; three sisters, Nadine Horner of Prarieton, Gladys

Kester, Ernestine S.    

BRAZIL – Ernestine S. Kester, 86 of Brazil, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at Clay Health
Center. She was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Harmony, the daughter of Ernest C. Snell and
Sally McIntyre Snell. She graduated from Van Buren High School, Class of 1940. She
continued her education with a bachelor’s degree in Art, English and Commerce in
1944, and her master’s degree in Art Education and Supervised Teaching in 1953, at
Indiana State University. She taught art and reading for 24 years at Deming Junior
High School in Terre Haute, and taught art 11 years at Honey Creek Junior High
School, also in Terre Haute. She was a supervising teacher at both schools, for
students at ISU, and St. Mary-of-the-Woods. She retired after 35 years of teaching in
Vigo County. She was a devoted wife, mother, and was affectionately known as
“Grandma Ernie” to her granddaughters and many others.She had many memberships
including, Clay County 4-H, Harmony United Methodist Church; ISU Grand Society of
Sycamores; Vigo County, Indiana, and National Retired Teachers associations; Art
Education Association of Indiana; Kappa Pi Honorary Art Fraternity; Omega Sigma Chi
Social Sorority; National Education Association; Indiana Federation of Art Clubs;
International Platform Association; and was a charter member of the National World
War II Memorial Commission.Following retirement, Mrs. Kester spent her spare time
painting, reading, and traveling with the International Platform Association, to
Denmark, Egypt, Austria, Russia, Sweden, England, China, Japan and Hong Kong.She
was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert L. Kester, in July 2003,
after 53 years of marriage; and one brother, Maurice Kibbie Snell.Survivors include
her daughters, Sharman Woll of Brazil, and Shari Voeltz and husband Donald of
Wisconsin; two granddaughters, Jamie Brinkman and husband Shawn of Brazil, and
Julie Wheaton and husband John of Terre Haute; five great-grandchildren, Macy
Brinkman, Bode Brinkman, Piper Brinkman, Brandt Wheaton and Luke Wheaton;
sister, Georgetta Lucas of Avon; sister-in-law, Vivien Snell of Terre Haute; several
nieces and nephews, Dr. Ronald Snell, Dr. Alan Snell, Tom Snell, CPA, Deanna Wells,
Joyce Thompson, Tom Lucas, Carleen Underwood, Joetta Allgood, and Janie Steele.

Robinson, Keith Carl    

DANA — Keith Carl Robinson, age 46, of Dana, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008,
in his home, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 11, 1961,
in Terre Haute, to Charles Robinson and Charlotte Auterson McCarty.He served in
the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid fisherman and loved hunting. Keith was a member
of the Sycamore Bass Club in Terre Haute, Red Oak Bass Club, BASS, Ducks
Unlimited, and the National Wild Turkey Foundation.He is survived by his wife, Patty
Gawlick Robinson, whom he married April 18, 1981; son, Kristopher Robinson and his
fiancée Jessica of Dana; parents, Charlotte and John McCarty of Clinton; a sister,
Kristine Robinson Allen of Rosedale; a brother, Ken Robinson of Indianapolis; and
grandma, Martha Robinson of Terre Haute. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews,
aunts, and uncles; and his loving and faithful pets, Nikki, Jessie, Jill, and Amanda.He
was preceded in death by his father, who passed away in 1972; and his grandfather,
Carl Robinson, who passed away in 1981.Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today in Roselawn

Lawson III, William H.   

William H. Lawson III, 68, of Terre Haute, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at
Union Hospital. He was born Jan. 31, 1940, in Brazil, to William H. Lawson II and Hazel
Miller Lawson. He was an electrician and worked for Indiana Gas and Chemical until
they closed, and then went to work for Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He
married Sharon Bridgewater, and she preceded him in death in 1998.Survivors include
a son, Jay Lawson and wife Sheri of Terre Haute; two grandchildren, Drew and Will
Lawson, both of Terre Haute; two sisters, Carolyn Harney of Brazil, and Elaine Brown of
Rockville; three sisters-in-law, Bobbie Capps of Terre Haute, Patricia Jennings, and
Rita Carroll, both of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He also was preceded in
death by his parents; and a brother, Jim Lawson. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at
Thomas Funeral Home, 2200 N. 13th St., with the Rev. Ed Gladdish officiating. Burial

Erika Lea Himes, 29, of Terre Haute, died at 11:36 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008,
at Union Hospital. She was born March 11, 1979, in Terre Haute, to John R. Himes and
Wanda Gayler Himes. Survivors include her parents of Terre Haute; two brothers,
Christopher Himes and John William Himes, both of Terre Haute; one sister, Erin Himes
of Terre Haute; paternal grandparents, Silas and Wilma Himes of Attica; maternal
grandparents, William Gayler Sr. and Betty Gayler of Lafayette and formerly of Attica;
aunts and uncles, Cheryle Himes of Lafayette, Debbie Roemer and husband Timothy
of Attica, David Himes and wife Jennifer of Veedersburg, James Himes and Mark
Himes, both of Attica, Judith Buck and husband Phillip of Lafayette, William Gayler Jr.
of Attica, and Joyce Youngblood and husband Jeff of Williamsport; nephews, William
Christopher Himes, Eian Walter Himes, and Lamar Perry; and several cousins.She was
a 1999 graduate of Terre Haute North Vigo High School, and a member of
Extraordinary Peoples Group at Union Christian Church. She was a volunteer at the
Terre Haute Humane Shelter. The family of Erika would like to give a special thank you

American Heart Association.Erika was a precious gift from God that we were blessed
with for 29 years. She was a happy, yet spirited young lady. She spent her entire life
with her family who loved her, cared for and protected her, every day. Erika enjoyed
walking, reading, watching old movies, and swimming in her kind neighbor’s pool. She
loved her family, her neighbors, her dog, Libby, and her cat, Tinkerbell. She will be
sadly missed by all.  
Bedford, Garland Craig    

Garland Craig Bedford, 65, of Terre Haute went to be with the Lord after a two year
battle with cancer, on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008. He retired from Indiana State
University, where he enjoyed working in the athletic department. He formerly was
employed at Alcan Aluminum for 20 years. He was born Dec. 9, 1942, in Terre Haute,
to Garland and Irene Bedford. His father preceded him in death. He is survived by his
mother; wife, Ginger, whom he married Nov. 5, 1966; daughter, Sueann Meagher and
husband Mike of Greenwood; son, Brian Bedford and his wife Marcee’ of Terre Haute;
sister-in-law, Charlene Bennett and husband Danny of Pennsylvania; sister-in-law,
Dolores Adams of Virginia; sisters, Debbie Myers and Gary, and Vikki Bedford, all of
Terre Haute; his grandchildren, Allie and Nathan Meagher, and Josh and Jessica
Bedford; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was a
member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, El-Shaddai Emmaus Community
Walk 127, William Penn Lodge 727 Free and Accepted Masons, Kerman Grotto, where
he served as monarch and secretary, and was a past president of the Midwest Grotto
Association. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and a member of Krietenstein Post 104
American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Wren Post 6574.Funeral services will
be 2 p.m. today at the church, 3050 E. Davis Drive, with the Revs. Aaron Wheaton,
Rick Swan, and Terry Jeffers officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior
to services. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, with graveside military rites.
DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, assisted with arrangements. In lieu of

Loudermilk, R. Michael   

R. Michael Loudermilk, 59, of Sullivan and formerly of Terre Haute, passed away at 1:
20 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, in Sullivan County Community Hospital. He was born
May 7, 1949, in Terre Haute, to Raymond E. Loudermilk and Helen Sybert Loudermilk.
He served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He
was a retired Sheriff’s Deputy for Vigo County. He was retired from the Indiana Army
National Guard. He also was Chief of Security at Hoosier Generation Station in Merom.
He is survived by his fiancée, Carol Loudermilk; sons, Michael Loudermilk, and Jacob
Loudermilk and his mother Beth Loudermilk; daughters, Elizabeth Vitz and husband
David and Becky Loudermilk; sisters, Jean Skinner, Stella Mann, Sara Loudermilk,
Marilyn Neese, Mary Akard; halfsister, Tracy Deal; one granddaughter, Abigail Vitz;
and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a
member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Sullivan County, Fraternal Order of Police,
and Brother of the Woods. Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mattox-Wood Funeral
Home, 4660 N. Lafayette Ave., with Gary Flora officiating. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m.
today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Military Rites also

Wright, Joy    

Joy Wright passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008. She was a lifelong resident of Terre
Haute, and a long-time employee of General Telephone. She was preceded in death
by her parents, Roy T. Myers and Edna Myers.She is survived by her children, Dr.
Sam Wright of Moorehead, Ky., Warren (Bill) Wright of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Susy
Schwartz of Brownsburg, and Robert Wright of Terre Haute; a sister, Ida McKinney of
Terre Haute; and three grandchildren.Joy was a graduate of Garfield High school, and
had attended Indiana State University. She had a kind heart for people and animals,
and will be missed by family and friends.A private ceremony will be conducted by the

Gallagher, Edna F.   

Edna F. Gallagher, 91, of Terre Haute, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, in
Southwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Vigo County, on Aug.
22, 1917, to Wesley and Bertha Johnson Hull. She was retired from the former
Merchants Distillery as a bottler. She was a member of Farmers Chapel Church and
had been attending Oak Hill Community Church and was a member of Oak Hill Ladies
Aid, over 50-year member of Terre Haute Chapter 43 Order of Eastern Star, Riley
Rebekah Lodge 251 and the White Shrine.She was preceded in death by her
husband, Bernard Gallagher, in 1984; her parents; and two brothers, Merle Eugene
Hull and Richard Hull.Survivors include her sister, Iris Gilbert of California; and one
niece, Cheryl Vadase of Missouri.Funeral services are 1 p.m. Friday in DeBaun
Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, with the Rev. Harold Throckmartin officiating.
Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is Friday from 11 a.m. until services.  
Kluesner Jr., John Albert    

John Albert Kluesner Jr., 79, of Terre Haute, passed away late Wednesday night,
Sept. 17, 2008, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born on Aug. 31, 1929, in
Terre Haute, the son of John Albert Kluesner and Lola Edna (Wilkes) Kluesner. He
married Deloris Ann Moore and she survives. John had served in the U.S. Marine
Corps during the Korean War. He worked in the coal mines and then worked as a
mechanic for Anderson Springs in Indianapolis. He was a former member of the
Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 972. His also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Survivors
include his wife, two daughters, Karen Huskisson and Kathy Kluesner and her
companion George Streeter, all of Terre Haute; a son, Albert Kluesner of Terre Haute;
seven grandchildren, Kevin Luke, Angel Kluesner, Amber Luke, Tabitha Huskisson,
Brandy Judd and fiancée Mike McMillin, Misty Judd, and Joseph Judd and wife
Melonie; 13 great-grandchildren, Alan Kluesner, Kayla Kelly, Devon Kluesner, Damion
Kluesner, Deann Kluesner, Dakota Kluesner, Summer Chapman, Lexus Huskisson,
Raven Bell, Hayden Hollifield, Braydon Kluesner, Kiarra McMillin, and Michael McMillin;
sisters, Lola Moore of Sugarland, Texas, Patricia Conroe of Texas and Wanda
Orndorff of Martinsville, Ill.; a brother, Marion Kluesner of Texas; and many nieces and
nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Joe, Jim and Ralph
Kluesner; and three sisters, Vivian Foust, Lottie Williams and Ellen Elrod.Visitation will
be held Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. in Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St.
Services are Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Arthur Orndorff
officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park with military graveside rites
conducted by Terre Haute VFW Post 972.  
Robinson, William R.   

William R. Robinson, 88, of Terre Haute, died at 4:25 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17,
2008, in Meadows Manor North. He was born on Dec. 16, 1919, in Reyno, Ark., to
Charlie Robinson and Mary Elizabeth Pulliam. He was retired from CF Industries as
maintenance superintendent.Survivors included his son, Rick R. Robinson and
daughter-in-law, Leslie B. Robinson; three grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen Laphae
Robinson; and a daughter, Janice.Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in Mattox-Wood
Funeral Home, 4660 N. Lafayette Avenue, followed with a graveside service in
Roselawn Memorial Park.  
Clark, Julia Irene    

Julia Irene Clark, 94, of Terre Haute, died at 7:15 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, in
Southwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on Jan. 9, 1914, in Terre
Haute, to Clifford Engle and Gertrude Dubbs Engle.She was preceded in death by her
husband, Isaac Clark; her sister, Daisy Neff; and her parents.Survivors include her
daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Ray Dyer; three grandchildren, Steven and Nancy
Dyer, Dan and Cynthia Dyer and Karen McNeely; five great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandchild; and one nephew, Larry Neff.She was a member of the old
Maryland Church on south seventh Street. Graveside services are 1 p.m. Tuesday,
Sept. 23, 2008, in Roselawn Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Ray
Dyer officiating. Arrangements are being handled by the DeBaun Funeral Home and

Swaim Jr., Steven Ray    

BRAZIL — Steven Ray Swaim, Jr., 35, of Brazil, died due to injuries following an
accident on Highway 59 N., on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008. He was born May 11, 1973, in
Vermillion County, the son of Steven Swaim, Sr. and Rebecca Koch Swaim. He
graduated from Rockville High School and also attended Vincennes University. He
had worked in the past for Koch Farms, Great Dane, Miller Pipe line, Brambles,
Hancor, and then in January of 2008, he found the job of his dreams at Altra Ethanol,
Inc. in Cloverdale. He really enjoyed working at the ethanol plant as a material
handler. On July 1, 1995, he married Jennifer Simonson Swaim. Together they
rounded their family with the addition of their daughter Alexandra Swaim. Steve loved
being "Daddy". He was very much the outdoorsman. He was an avid hunter, especially
deer, turkey and rabbits. He also enjoyed camping and boating. He was preceded in
death by his grandfather, Ray Swaim; and his stepgrandfather, Benjamin Adams.
Survivors include his wife and daughter, Jennifer and Alexandra Swaim of Brazil;
mother and stepfather, Rebecca and Ben Adams of Dana; father and stepmother,
Steve Swaim Sr. and Carol; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Keith and Betty
Simonson; grandparents, Mary and Joe Koch of Brazil, Martha Ransom, and step-
grandmother, Delores Adams of Terre Haute; sisters, Stephanie Stover of Brazil,
Laura Thomas of Dana; and brother, Josh Swaim of Waveland; stepsister, Jami Case;
sister-in-law, Julianne Moss and husband Terry of Cadiz, Ky.; brothers-in-law, Rick
Simonson of Plainfield, and Chris Simonson of Florida; nieces and nephews, Dillion
Swaim, Billie McClain, Christian Stover, Miya Sabla and Stormy Swaim; other extended
family; and a close group of friends.Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at
Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., with Gary Scroggins officiating. Burial
will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute. Visitation is today from 4 to 8 p.
m., and again Thursday prior to services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that,
monetary donations be directed to an education fund for Alexandria Swaim, c/o

Reik Jr., Marcus L.   

Marcus L. Reik Jr., 72, of Terre Haute, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008. He was
born on April 7, 1936, in Indianapolis, to Marcus L. and Mary Johnson Reik Sr. He
enjoying fishing, NASCAR, and loved singing karaoke, and CB radios. Survivors
include his sister, Katherine L. Smith and husband Herbert of Bel Air, Md.; loving
companion, Donna Carlyle; children, Donald Lee Reik of Camden, Ohio, Ronald Lewis
Reik of Terre Haute, Jerry Allen Reik of Brazil, Jeannie Marie Evans and husband
Thomas of Evansville and Nancy Louise Evans and husband Randy of Evansville.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Connie Biggs Reik.A
memorial gathering will be held 1 p.m. Saturday in Maryvale Apartments in West Terre
Haute. Cremation has been chosen. Inurnment is in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Morris, Robert Warren   

Robert Warren Morris, 87, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, in Terre Haute
Regional Hospital. He was born on Jan. 10, 1921, to Joseph and Irene Morris, in
Washington. Bob was retired from AT and T after 35 years of service. He served in
the U.S. Army Signal Corps 1941 to 1946. He was a member of the Maplewood
Christian Church and the Communication Workers of America.Survivors include his
wife of 63 years, Evelyn; his daughters, Donna Tomlinson, Connie Steinhart, Nancy
Roberts (John) and Rita Tiarks (Roland); grandsons, Andy (Elaine) Tomlinson, Tim
Tomlinson, John B. (Christy) Steinhart and Joe Roberts; and great-grandchildren,
Jack and Frank Steinhart and Emily Tomlinson.He was preceded in death by his
parents; grandmother, Jennie Lively; brother Arthur; and son, William Lee.Calling will
be at Maplewood Christian Church from 9:30 to 11 a.m. preceding the funeral at 11
a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers,
contributions be made to Maplewood Christian Church Sonshine Center.

Carol Adams, 71, of Terre Haute, passed away Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, in her home.
She was born on Dec. 16, 1936, in Clinton, to Frank and Charlotte Hillis Tucker. Carol
graduated from Clinton High School and retired from Bemis. She was a Past Matron of
Chapter 43 Order of Eastern Star, Past Grand Page 1972 Indiana Grand Chapter of
OES, she had memberships with Galilee Shrine 7, and the Shrine of
Jerusalem.Survivors include her daughter, Tina Adams Favre of Rosedale;
granddaughter, Deborah L. Favre of Rosedale; grandson, William R. Favre and wife
Billie Jo of Terre Haute; three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Tereasa, and Deven
Favre; one sister, Mary Sue Gruse of Florida; and a brother, Gilbert Tucker of
Clinton.She was preceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Morris Adams, who
passed away Nov. 5, 2003; and three brothers, Frank Tucker Jr., Bernard Tucker,
and Paul Tucker. Funeral Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday in Roselawn Funeral Home,
7500 N. Clinton Street. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m.
