Ingle, Edythe L.
Edythe L. Ingle, 89, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2008, in her residence.
She was born March 21, 1919, in Lafayette to Arthur D. Stotler and Julia G. Lester Stotler.
She married William K. Ingle, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1989. She was a
homemaker. Survivors include her companion, Jerry H. Patterson of Terre Haute; four
children, Michael W. Ingle and wife Priscilla of Enid, Okla., Nancy Ingle of Plainfield, Timothy
A. Ingle and Michel, and Amy J. Ingle, all of Terre Haute; four grandchildren. Ross, Steven,
Sarah and Ashley; three step-grandchildren, Jeff, Jenni and Josh; one great-granddaughter,
Makenzie; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Frosty. She also was preceded in
death by her parents and one sister.She graduated from Wiley High School in 1936. She was
a member of Maple Avenue United Methodist Church, the Maple Avenue UMC Women's
Society, Chapter 528 Order of Eastern Star, UTU Auxiliary and the Typographical Auxiliary.
She had quilted at the church for more than 45 years, and was at one time chairperson of
Circle 6 at the church. She was very active in the church organizations and in community
work.Services are 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Monte Barker officiating. Burial
will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Thomas Funeral
Home.


Kuhn, Robert "Bob"
Robert “Bob” Kuhn, 77, a resident of Dothan, Ala., went to be with his Lord unexpectedly on
Monday, March 31, 2008, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Rev. Kuhn was born on
Dec. 30, 1930, in Vigo County, Ind., and spent his young life there.He was a graduate of
Anchorage, Alaska High School and Olivet Nazarene University, Kankakee, Ill. He served in
the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. He was ordained as a minister and served for
33 years in the Church of the Nazarene, serving in Oelwein, and Iowa Falls, Iowa, and Attica,
Mishawaka, Kokomo, Tipton and DeMotte, Ind. He was also a correctional counselor for 10
years with Indiana Department of Corrections. After his retirement on July 27, 1995, he
moved to Dothan, where he continued to faithfully serve the Lord until he was ushered into
eternity. He will be remembered for his hard work and service to the Lord, even into
retirement. His cheerful smile and love for the Lord, the church and his family will be lasting
tributes.Survivors include his loving wife, Shirley (Bortner) Kuhn, Dothan; four devoted
children and their spouses, Deborah (Kuhn) and James Bruley, Worth, Ill., David and Kendra
Kuhn, Indianapolis, Rachel Kuhn, Dothan, Thomas and Becky Kuhn, DeMotte; seven beloved
grandchildren, Christina (Bruley) and Maciej Babinski, Elizabeth (Bruley) and James
Soldenwagner, Ryan Kuhn, Matthew Kuhn, Tony Jenkins, Robert Kuhn and Hannah Kuhn;
sisters, Doris Valeta Potts, Freida Martyne Graham and her husband Donald; stepchildren,
Stephen and Sharon Bortner of Kent, Ohio, John and Patti Bortner of Waldorf, Md., Pamela
and Patrick Rider of Lenexa, Kan., Rebecca and Steven Mobley of Villa Rica, Ga.; 13
stepgrandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death
by his parents, James Samuel Clifford Kuhn and Delpha Abrams Kuhn; his first wife of 50
years, Dorothy Martin Kuhn; and four siblings. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in
Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Hostetler officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m.
Friday in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to Gideons International in Robert’s name.

Jackson, Lindsey "Bud"
Lindsey “Bud” Jackson, 79, of Terre Haute passed away late Tuesday night, April 1, 2008, at
Union Hospital. He was born on Oct. 3, 1928, in Terre Haute to Lindsey and Emma Jackson.
He was a United States Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He was a member of
the American Legion, the VFW, the Moose Lodge, 40/8, and the Eagles. He worked as a
truck driver in earlier years, and he loved to travel.Survivors include his loving fiancée, Fran
Hagemeyer; children, Lindsey M. Jackson of Tampa, Fla., Gerald W. Jackson and his wife
Deborah, Rosemary Fonner, Yvonne “Bonnie” Wilson and her husband Albert, and Brian
Jackson all of Terre Haute. Also surviving are grandchildren, Tracy Gilbert and Tonya
Jackson, both of Terre Haute, Justin Jackson and his wife Amber of Fort Pierce, Fla., Melanie
Trueblood and her husband Travis, Jeremy Jackson, Lindsey Snapp and his wife Angie,
Angela Fonner, Travis Wilson and his wife Chelsea, Jacob Jackson, and Breana Jackson all
of Terre Haute; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles “Shot” Jackson and his wife Betty
of Terre Haute; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his
wife, Rosemary; one son, Buddy Leo Jackson; three brothers and three sisters. Graveside
services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Roselawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Kevin Devine
officiating. American Legion Post 104 will be performing graveside military rites. Visitation will
be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Roselawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to
the Hospice of the Wabash Valley in Lindsey’s name.

Schoffstall Sr., George Alvan
George Alvan Schoffstall Sr., 83, peacefully left to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 2,
2008, in his residence surrounded by family and a close friend. He was born Nov. 17, 1924,
in Terre Haute, to Phillip Harrison and Ida Myrtle DeHart Schoffstall. He married Betty J.
Wolford on Sept. 10, 1942, and she survives. He was a retired police officer for the City of
Terre Haute and had been employed at the former Doan and Decker Ford, all before being
elected as Vigo County Treasurer for two terms. He then became self-employed with B and G
Asphalt, North 3rd Street Auto Sales, and Tropical Tans. Survivors include his wife; a son,
George A. Schoffstall Jr. and his wife Kelly; a daughter, Cynthia Brown; three grandchildren,
Theresa Hughes and her companion David Kelms, Terril Wheatley Jr. and his companion
Rachael Doss, Travis Schoffstall and his wife Erin; and four great-grandchildren, Dacota
(Joshua), Briaden and Tristin Hughes, and Kaleb Wheatley; many nieces and nephews; and
a longtime faithful friend, Arnold Frye. He was preceded in death by his parents; four
brothers; and five sisters.He was very active in the local political process. He was a U.S. Army
veteran of World War II, he was a life member of the American Legion having served as
commander of the former Post 40 for 25 years. He was a life member of the Fraternal Order
of Police Lodge 85, a longtime member of Voiture 21, 40 and 8; Masonic Lodge 19 Free and
Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite, Valley of Terre Haute, AMVETS Post 2, Izzak Walton
League of Terre Haute, and the New Life Fellowship Church.In keeping with his wishes,
cremation is being handled by DeBaun Funeral Homes and Crematory. Memorial services
are 11 a.m. today in New Life Fellowship, 1851 N. Chamberlain Road, with the Rev. Jeff
Harpole officiating. Interment of cremains will be 1 p.m. today in Roselawn Chapel of
Memories with full military rites and an honor guard from the Terre Haute Police Department.

Densmore, Hazel I.
Hazel I. Densmore, 87, of Duluth, Ga., formerly of Terre Haute, passed away Monday, March
31, 2008, in Peachtree Christian Hospice, in Duluth. A lifelong resident of Terre Haute, she
was born on Nov. 2, 1920, in Clay City, to Otis Oscar and Flora Belle Navel Kress. She
worked for General Housewares for over 30 years.Survivors include her two daughters,
Carolyn Fauris of Duluth and Virginia Modesitt of Flowery Branch, Ga.; one son, James
Densmore and his wife Jonna of Lafayette, Colo.; a sister, Erma Minks of Walla Walla,
Wash.; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.She
was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dalton Densmore, who passed away in
March 1989; and five brothers. Hazel graduated from Clay City High School. She loved to
crochet and play euchre.Graveside services are 2 p.m. Friday in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Adams, Beatrice L.
Beatrice L. Adams, 58, of Terre Haute, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2008, peacefully
with her family at her side, after a short battle with cancer, in Union Hospital. Bea was born
Sept. 20, 1949, in Decatur, Ill., to Clive Young II and Mary Kramer Young. She married her
loving husband, Jesse R. Adams, in 1967, and he survives. She was employed as a
bookkeeper for Adams Garage, which she co-owned.Survivors include her husband; a son,
Andrew D. Adams and wife Kristy; a daughter, Shelly L. Durr and husband Jason; three
grandchildren, Jacob Adams, Morgan Adams and Gracie Durr; three sisters, Mavis Carlisle,
Linda Stultz and Valice McDaniel; a brother, Clive R. Young III; a sister-in-law, Nellie Milner;
and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.She was a
graduate of Garfield High School in 1967. She loved being with her family, especially with her
grandchildren when they were vacationing and fishing in Minnesota. She also enjoyed being
with her friends, camping and playing cards.Services are 10 a.m. Monday in Roselawn

Hocker, Marian
Marian Hocker, 91, Terre Haute, died at 11:20 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008, in Southwood
Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on Feb. 28, 1917, in Marshall, Ind., to
Warren Hocker and Edna Owen Hocker. She was employed in federal service for the U.S.
government.Survivors include one niece, Ann Tornese and her husband Lin of Terre Haute;
one nephew, Howard “Chip” Cline and his wife Susan of Avon Lake, Ohio, and their
daughter, Kelly of Lakewood, Ohio; and four cousinsShe was preceded in death by her
parents; and one sister, Vivian Hocker Cline, in February 2008.There are no services or

Rogers, Wilma L.
Wilma L. Rogers, 81, of Terre Haute, died at 3:35 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2008, in her
residence. She was born in Vigo County, on Oct. 2, 1926, the daughter of Leslie and Ella
McCoskey Frederick. She retired as a secretary for Vigo County School Corporation
Administration Offices.Survivors include her friends and caregivers, Ronda Mallory, Carl
Long and their families.She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Rogers, in
November, 2001; and her brothers and sisters. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign
Wars 972 Ladies Auxiliary. Funeral services are 2:30 p.m. Monday in DeBaun Springhill
Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, with the Rev. Terry Chandler officiating. Burial is in Roselawn

Lewis, Margaret I.
Margaret I. Lewis, 94, of Terre Haute, passed away Friday morning, April 4, 2008, in her
home. She was born on Sept. 28, 1913, in Somerset, Ky., to Hubert and Stella Poynter
Isaacs. She worked as a buyer for Roots Company for 28 years, and later worked at Ace
Hardware, and then worked at Kmart in Terre Haute, as a greeter. Survivors include her
son, William Lewis and his wife Margo; a granddaughter, Susan Hudson and her husband
Denver; three great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Jeffrey, and Leah Wells, all of Terre Haute;
nephew, Richard Light; and a niece, Betsy LeDoux.Margaret was preceded in death by her
parents; her husband, Fred Lewis, who passed away in August 1961; and two sisters,
Elizabeth Light and Edna Friedricks.She was very active in Community Theater and in
Memorial United Methodist Church. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday in Roselawn Funeral

Birchfield, Sarah Ellen
ROSEDALE — Sarah Ellen Birchfield, 79, of Rosedale, died at 10:04 p.m., Sunday, April 6,
2008, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. She was born Oct. 18, 1928, in Chicago to John
Brashears and Emma Kehoe. Her husband of 56 years, Richard Birchfield, died April 5,
2003.Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Susan Birchfield of Terre Haute, and Leah
Ann Benger and husband Gary of Olathe, Kans.; five grandchildren, David, Daniel, James,
Peter and Emily; and one great-grandchild, Tyler. She also was preceded in death by her
parents; and a brother, John “Jack” Brashears.She loved to read a liked gardening.Services
are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, 4660 N. Lafayette Ave., in Terre

Caldwell, Helen McCoskey
Helen McCoskey Caldwell, 96, of Terre Haute died Saturday, April 5, 2008, in Meadows
Manor North. Helen was born March 6, 1912, in Terre Haute to Thomas Jones and Grace
Storz Jones. She was office manager for Sunbeam Electric for 43 years. Her husbands,
Asbury "Red" McCoskey and Ervin Caldwell, preceded her in death.Survivors include her
sister, Betty Monce and husband Oscar of Terre Haute; niece, Mishela Monce of Richmond,
Va.; and nephews, Shaun Berdugo and Greg Berdugo, both of Richmond, Va. She was a
member of Badoura Temple 23 Daughters of the Nile, the Zorah Honored Ladies, and
Kerman Cauldron 19. She also was a member of Moose Lodge 336, Wabash Valley Senior
Citizens, the Sycamore Club, and the Woman’s Department Club. Funeral services will be 2

Childress, Roy Gene
Roy Gene Childress, 72, of Terre Haute, died early Sunday morning, April 6, 2008, at Union
Hospital. He was born Aug. 28, 1935, in Washington County, Va., to Coy Lee Childress and
Bertha Mae Hicks Childress. He retired from Conrail Railroad, and loved working on cars
and tinkering with them.Survivors include his loving wife, Delores Banta Childress, whom he
married Aug. 28, 1954; four children, Becky Hennecke and her husband Ralph of Shelburn,
Cindy Weir and her husband Rob of Lewis, Pamela Trench and her husband Mark of
Hymera, and Kenneth Roy Gene Childress and his fiancé Deborah Wilson of Terre Haute;
grandchildren, Jeremy Hennecke and wife Bobbi of Hymera, Travis Hennecke and wife Kristy
of Shelburn, Shawn Hennecke of Shelburn, Heather Thacker and husband Jared of Hymera,
Robyn Weir and fiancé Ian Gilbert of Shelburn, Derek Weir of Lewis, Mark Trench Jr. and
wife Ashley of Hymera, Tabitha Trench of Hymera, Patricia Lynn Childress of Fort

Patterson, Ethelene
Ethelene Patterson, 82, of Terre Haute, our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother went to
be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, in Davis Gardens
Health Center. She was born Sept. 29, 1925, in Louisville, Ky., to Lon H. and Leila Dever.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Henry, in 1984.Survivors include
her husband, Herbert L. Patterson; a son, the Rev. Dean Henry and his wife Alice Downs of
Atlantic Highlands, N.J.; a daughter, Dona Seeley and her husband Ronald of Harden,
Mont.; and two grandsons, Eric Henry of Philadelphia, and Capt. Craig Henry of the U.S. Air
Force in Japan. She is also survived by five stepchildren; 18 stepgrandchildren; and 12
stepgreat-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Juanita Dever of Louisville, Ky.; two nieces and one
nephew. Ethelene graduated from a business school in Louisville and was employed by the
Vigo County School Corp. for 24 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church for 56
years, during which time she served on numerous boards and committees including the
Deacon Board, Music Board, Pastoral Search Committees, Sunday School Teacher, and
Youth Group Leader. She loved music and sang in the Sanctuary Choir for 50 years. She
was also a member of the Terre Haute Newcomers Club where she served as president.
Upon retirement she served as a faithful volunteer at Union Hospital for 18 years in the
Pastoral Care Department. She was very generous in helping people and had a heart for
others. The family would like to express a special thank you to the nursing staff at Davis
Gardens. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday in Callahan and Hughes Funeral Home,
605 S. 25th St., with the Rev. Bernie Jackson officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.

Atterson, Mildred L.
Mildred L. Atterson, 89, of Terre Haute, passed away Monday, April 7, 2008, in the Union
Hospital. She was born May 30, 1918, in Vigo County, the daughter of Ira Smith and Cecil
(Gardner) Smith. She married Charles Atterson on May 19, 1934, and he preceded her in
death August 1979. She was a homemaker. She also had worked for Packard Shirt and
retired from Glas-Col. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 336, two
bowling leagues, and she loved to dance. Survivors include her daughter, Anita of
Arkansas; two sons, Gary Atterson of Danville, Ill., and Dennis Atterson and wife Kathleen of
Terre Haute; grandchildren, Andrea Resnik and husband Bryan, Chad Atterson and wife
Heather, Todd Atterson and wife Jennifer, Shelly Atterson, Mark Atterson and wife Michele,
Serena Redman and husband Tony, Tim Frye, John Frye, Jeff Caton, and Steve, Melody,
Tina, Tammy, Diana Alkire; 31 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; a
daughter-in-law, Nancy Atterson of Noblesville; three brothers, Howard Smith and wife
Winiford of Terre Haute, Kenneth Smith of Terre Haute, and Ira Smith Jr. and wife Alda Mae
of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews. Her parents; husband; daughter, Barbara
Jean Frye; and three grandsons, Leslie Frye, Ronald Frye and Christopher Atterson
preceded her in death. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday in Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N.

Monce, Betty
Betty Monce, 82, of Terre Haute died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, in Terre Haute Regional
Hospital. She was born Sept. 11, 1925, in Terre Haute to Thomas Jones and Grace Storz
Jones. She worked at Reuben Donnelly, was the office manager for the Veterans Housing
Administration, and cashier for the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.Survivors include her husband,
Oscar Monce; daughter, Mishela Monce of Richmond, Va.; son-in-law, Richard Berdugo of
Richmond; and grandsons, Shaun Berdugo and Greg Berdugo, both of Richmond. She was
preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Helen McCoskey Caldwell. Funeral services
are 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Callahan and Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St., with the

Reese, Lois "Diane"
VEEDERSBURG — Lois “Diane” Reese, 69, of Veedersburg, died at 9:44 a.m. Wednesday,
April 9, 2008, as a result of an automobile accident near Veedersburg. She was born Jan.
24, 1939, in Newtown, the daughter of Ralph and Lois Rennick Fletcher. Diane married
Thomas Reese on March 7, 1958, in Sterling, and he survives. They celebrated 50 years of
marriage this past month. She had been employed as assistant manager at CVS Pharmacy,
retiring in 2002.Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Debra Gee of Terre Haute,
Dawn Throckmorton and her husband Rick of Martinsville, Dee Dee Kelley, and Dana Van
Ness and her husband Andy, all of Terre Haute, Donna Suits and her husband Gary of
Indianapolis; one son, Michael Reese and his wife Angie of Linwood, N.C.; two brothers,
Ralph Fletcher III and his wife Saundra of Veedersburg and Thomas Fletcher and his wife
Sharon of Tilton, Ill.; two sisters, Regina Baker and her husband Bob, and Nellie Cox, all of
Newman; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her
parents; and two brothers, William and Francis Fletcher. Diane graduated from
Veedersburg High School in 1958. She enjoyed floral arranging, reading, decorating for
Christmas and spending time with her family. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Sunday in
Dickerson Funeral Home, in Veedersburg, with the Rev. Richard Throckmorton officiating.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Interment is Monday in Roselawn

Lorey, Thomas C.
Thomas C. Lorey, 54, of Terre Haute died early Monday morning, April 14, 2008, in his
residence. He was a data processor for First Financial Bank. He was born June 29, 1953, in
Terre Haute, to Byron T. Lorey and Nina L. Mahan Lorey.Survivors include his wife, Janice
Fidler Lorey; two sons, Matthew and Patrick; a daughter, Heather; his parents, Byron and
Nina Lorey of Terre Haute; two brothers, Kurt Lorey and his wife Karen of Indianapolis, and
Marc Lorey and his wife Dawn of Terre Haute; a sister, Janna Klug and her husband Dan of
Terre Haute; his mother-in-law, Wanda Fidler of Farmersburg; a sister-in-law, Saralyn Straw
of Terre Haute; and eight nieces and nephews.Tom was a 1971 graduate of Wiley High
School, and had attended Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Indiana State
University. He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, the Pachyderm Club,
and was very active in local politics having served on the Vigo County Election Board as a
Republican representative.Memorial services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, April 18,
2008, in Callahan and Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St., with the Rev. Scott Johnson

Kenneth P. Duncan Sr., 73, of Crawfordsville, passed away at his residence. He was born
June 22, 1935 in Terre Haute, the son of Kenneth Alexander Duncan and Blanche Mae
(Price) Duncan. He married Carolyn Sue Griffey and she preceded him in death on April 6,
1986. Kenneth was a graduate from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He served as a
captain in the Army Corps of Engineers. He retired from R. R. Donnelley and was a lifetime
member of the NRA. Survivors include two children, Kenneth P. Duncan Jr. and his wife
Mary Ann of Terre Haute, and Barbara Jean Webster and her husband Russell of Terre
Haute; three loving grandchildren, Karla, Russell and Ryan; a brother, David Duncan and
wife Shirley of Kokomo; a sister, Harriette Duncan of Bloomington, Ind., and several nieces
and nephews. His parents and wife preceded him in death. Private family services are

Orlea, Elsie
ROCKVILLE — Elsie Orlea, 87, of Rockville passed away early Wednesday morning, in
Meadows Manor East Nursing Home in Terre Haute. She was born on Oct. 9, 1920, to
Charles and Bertha Cruse Orlea.She graduated from Central Bible Institute in Springfield,
Mo., and began work as a minister. She also did work in home healthcare and worked at an
orphanage in earlier years. Survivors include nephews, Stan, Philip, and Jon Sinclair,
Charley Orlea, and a niece, Marcia Favali. Also surviving are several great-nieces and
nephews and their children.Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Hazel
Marie Orlea Thomas, Arthola Rose Sinclair, Elizabeth Orlea, and Charles Robert Orlea.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today in Clinton Assembly of God Church. Funeral
services are 2 p.m. in the church. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre

Fred Aaron Hamblen, 87, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008, in Union
Hospital. He was born on Nov. 7, 1920, in Terre Haute to Elisha A. Hamblen and Myrtle
Haton Hamblen. He was retired from Penn Central Railroad, after 40 years of service.
Survivors include three sons, Alfred “Al” Hamblen and wife Paula, Elisha “PeeWee”
Hamblen and wife Linda, and David Hamblen and wife Lenora; one daughter, Martha
Hamblen; 12 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 10
stepgreat-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years,
Hazel Hamblen; one son, Joseph “Eddie” Hamblen; and one brother, Frank Alan.He was a
member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Fred Hamblen was a 1981
Terre Award winner for his volunteer services to the community. His passions were his
family, baseball (St. Louis Cardinals), basketball, Terre Haute Firefighters, Barbershop

Mertillus Carlton Martin and Jessie Ethel Pierson Martin. He retired as a motion picture
projectionist from Honey Creek Square Cinema I and II, after a 53 year career in theatres in
Terre Haute. He was lovingly married to his wife, Juanita Downs Martin, on April 14, 1961,
until her death in 1999.Survivors include his stepdaughter, Carol Lynn Whallon and her
husband Bill of West Terre Haute, and their children, Douglas Whallon, Angela Robinson,
and Anne Mullikin; a stepson, Michael Eugene Rozanski of Phoenix, and his children,
Debbie Hillman, Michael Rozanski Jr., Bobby Rozanski, Samantha Rozanski, and Candace
Rozanski; a stepson, Otto Pruitt and his wife Connie of Green Valley, Ariz., and their
children, Timothy, Tony, Victor, Otto Paul, Brian, and Jeff; a granddaughter, Heather

grandchildren and great-grandchildren, going for drives in the country, tinkering in his

married Robert F. Wallace, attorney, and he preceded her in death. Her survivors include a
daughter, Patricia Livvix and her husband Bill R. Livvix Sr. of Coatesville; a son, Terry L.
Persinger of Terre Haute; three grandchildren, Todd A. Sowers of West Terre Haute, Tracy
A. McDaniel and husband Terry of Riley, and Rikk Sowers and wife Amanda of Tucson,
Ariz.; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Dorothy Allen of

She also was preceded in death by her parents. She retired from Columbia House. She

DENNISON, Ill. — George R. Wilson Sr., 81, of Dennison, and formerly of Terre Haute, Ind.,
died at 12:17 p.m. Sunday, April 20, 2008, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born
Feb. 22, 1927, in Terre Haute, to William Wilson and Dolly Horton. Survivors include his
present wife of two years, Margaret Wilson; one daughter, Pam Runyan and husband Dave
of Terre Haute; two stepsons, Richard Ramey and wife Janet of Dennison, and Mike
Ramey and wife Carol; three stepdaughters, Karen Lemay and husband Claude, and
Joyce Mott and husband Bob, all of Marshall, and Diane Nacke and husband Tom of Terre
Haute; one brother, William Wilson and wife Hortence; grandchildren, Brooke Ellis and
husband Mike, and Travis Runyan and wife Kristina; several great-grandchildren; and
several great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years,
Dorothy Wilson; his parents; a son, George Wilson Jr. of Terre Haute; a stepdaughter,
Charla Jones of Terre Haute; and one sister, Mary Smith of Terre Haute.He was a loving
father. He proudly served in the Merchant Marines and was released from service in 1944.
He worked as a brick layer for many years. He and his wife, Dorothy, then started St. Mary
Supper Club in St. Mary-of-the-Woods, and ran it for several years before retiring. He was
a member of Free and Accepted Masons in West Terre Haute, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre
Haute, and drove children to the Zorah Shrine Children’s Hospital from 1985 to 1987. He
also was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.While he was
still able, he loved playing golf, horseshoes, cards and hunting mushrooms. He almost
always had a vegetable garden and lots of flowers in his yard. He will be greatly missed.
Services are 6 p.m. EDT Thursday in Mattox-Ryan Funeral Home, 602 S. Seventh St., in
Terre Haute, with the Rev. Don Mullen officiating, and military services conducted by

Maxine L. Spears Pershing, 90, of Terre Haute died at 11:26 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008
in Union Hospital. She was born in Terre Haute on March 6, 1918 to Harley and Blanche
Dossett Spears. She married Willis H. Pershing in 1957, and he preceded her in death in
1972. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Bible Baptist Church. She loved to
garden. Her survivors include two sisters, Betty Wilkey of Terre Haute and Geraldine Fell of
Jupiter, Fla.; and nieces and nephews, Dennis and Steve Wilkey, and Nancy Searing of

Elizabeth Gwendolyn “Gwen” Thompson, 89, of Sandford, passed away at 1:30 a.m.
Thursday, April 24, 2008, in Royal Oaks Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Terre
Haute. She was born Feb. 21, 1919, in western Vigo County, to Henry Emmett Judy and
Louise Morgan Judy. She had formerly been employed with several businesses in Terre
Haute including Miller Parrot, Simplicity Pattern, and most recently with MCL Cafeteria.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Thermon Moore of Tallahassee,
Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Mary Thompson of Sandford; two grandsons,
Steve Moore and his wife Terri of Maryland and Mark Moore and his wife Tracy of Alaska;
four great-grandchildren, J.D. Moore, Sarah Moore, Melissa Ogleby and her husband
Matthew, and Matthew Moore; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by her parents; her stepmother, Lucille Judy; her husband, Robert Morgan
Thompson, in June 1979; and two brothers, Harold and Wayne Judy. She was a member of
the Sandford Wesleyan Church. Services are 1 p.m. Saturday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home,
220 N. Third St., in West Terre Haute, with the Rev. Thermon Moore officiating. Burial is in
Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and prior to services Saturday.
The family suggests that if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the
Alzheimer’s Foundation with envelopes available in the funeral home.

Sibrel, Hazel L.
Hazel L. Sibrel, 85, of DeWitt, Mich., died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, in her home, after
suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for several years. Hazel was born June 11, 1922, in
Terre Haute, the daughter of John O. and Hazel M. Park Winton, and graduated from Wiley
High School in Terre Haute. She was married to William F. Sibrel on Sept. 25, 1943, in
Orlando, Fla., and he preceded her in death in September 1995. She had worked for
Clabber Girl Baking Company and was a homemaker.Survivors include her sons, William
O. Sibrel and his wife Susan of DeWitt and Steven P. Sibrel and his wife Lynda of South
Lyon, Mich.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brothers, John and Paul
Winton.She was preceded in death by her husband; and three sisters, Mary K. Poorman,
Alice M. Johonnott, and Dorothy I. Johnson.Funeral services are 2 p.m. Monday in
Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St. with the Rev. Frank Oakman officiating. Burial
to follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today and noon to service time
on Monday in the funeral home.

Webber, Irene Eva
Irene Eva Webber, 94, of Terre Haute, peacefully passed away Wednesday, April 23,
2008. She was born on Jan. 27, 1914, in Terre Haute, to Chester and Eva Eldred. Irene
was married on April 4, 1937, to Harold (Scotty) R. Webber. He preceded her in death in
1996. Together they had three daughters. Irene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother, sister and aunt. In the early 1970s, she was one of the first successful
heart bypass patients, with the procedure performed by medical pioneer Dr. Michael
DeBakey. Irene was a member of Maryland Homemakers Society and Audubon Society.
She enjoyed playing bridge, birdwatching, rug hooking, reading and spending time with her
family. She will be remembered most for her zest for life, wonderful spirit and love for her
family and friends. “She was part of every breath we took.”Irene is survived by her
daughters and their husbands, Myles and Renee Taylor of Terre Haute, Edward and Karen
White of Paris, Ill., and Marc and Lisa Neihaus of Tallahassee, Fla.; grandchildren, Holly
Horton and husband Samuel , Amy Surber and husband Nicholas, Ryan Taylor, Eric
Neihaus and Evan Neihaus; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Nicholas and Zachary Surber, and
Bridget Horton; brother, William Eldred; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by her loving husband; and siblings, Vivian Byrne, Lester Eldred and Marlin Eldred.
The family would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. S. Patel and dear friend Dr. Sisir
Dhar for providing Irene with such amazing kindness and care. They would also like to
acknowledge Heather Dhar and neighbors Dr. Gene and Gloria Etheridge and Flossie

Daugherty, Vaughn E.
Vaughn E. Daugherty, 80, of Anderson, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2008, in his
residence, after an extended illness. He was born May 20, 1927, in Jasonville, the son of
Vaughn and Pearl Bennett Daugherty. He was a graduate of Clinton High School and lived
in Anderson most all of his life, where he retired in the early ‘80s from Delco-Remy after
321/2 years and later worked for Community Hospital in Anderson. Survivors include his
wife of 55 years, Barbara A. Curry Daugherty of Anderson; two sons, Vaughn Daugherty
and wife Julia of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Kevin Daugherty of Greenfield; one granddaughter,
Jilliann Short and husband Joshua of Lafayette; three sisters, Lucille Turner of Terre
Haute, Nelda Nelson of Carmel, and Dorothy Lovell of Ormond Beach, Fla.; two brothers,
Bill Daugherty and wife Becky of Anderson and Dr. Forest Daugherty and wife Marsha of
Columbus; two brothers-in-law, James Dunn and wife Barbara of Clinton, and Donald Dunn
of Mishawaka; a sister-in-law, Christina Sizelove-Logan and husband Howard Logan of
Pendleton; and several nieces and nephews.Vaughn was preceded in death by his
daughter, Loretta Armstrong; and a brother, James Daugherty.He served in the U.S.
Marine Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Pendleton First United
Methodist Church, Pendleton Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis.
Graveside services are 1 p.m. Monday in Roselawn Cemetery, 7500 N. Clinton St., in Terre

Webster, Doris Louise
Doris Louise Webster, 89, formerly of Terre Haute, died at 4:20 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2008,
in Owen Valley Health Campus in Spencer. She was born April 19, 1919, in Clinton, to
Earnest France and Jenny Stephens. She was retired as a legal secretary.Survivors
include her brother-in-law, Morris Webster and sister-in-law, Jean Webster; nephews,
Daniel Miller Sr. of Spencer; great-nieces, Deana Stickel and Denise Waggoner, both of
Spencer; great-nephews, Paul Miller, Dennis Miller, and Drew Miller, all of Spencer, Don
Miller of Mount Vernon, and Dwight Miller of Laporte, Texas.She was preceded in death by
her parents; her husband, Arthur Earl Webster, whom she married in 1944; three sisters,
Mildred Phillips, Lenore Parks and Mary France; and a great-nephew, Daniel E. Miller Jr.
She was a member of the Elks.Funeral services are 2 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2008, in
Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Homes, 2425 Wabash Ave., with the Rev. Larry Scott of

Wilson, Viola "Lucy"
CLINTON — Viola “Lucy” Wilson, 80, a longtime resident of Clinton died at 5:25 p.m.
Saturday, April 26, 2008. She was born Oct. 12, 1927, in Chicago to Roman Musial, a U.S.
citizen who also fought in his homeland Poland’s War of 1920, and her mother, Albina
Brdlik Musial of Chicago, a homemaker and mother of four.Lucy married Keith C. Wilson,
on Aug. 3, 1947, raised four children while working full-time. She graduated from Clinton
High School and attended Indiana Business College. She loved music, dancing, water-
skiing, bowling, sports, quilting, gardening, spending time with her grandkids, and working
side-by-side with her husband on a multitude of projects. Survivors include her husband of
Terre Haute; a son, Ben Wilson and wife Kathie of Algonquin, Ill.; two daughters, Toni
Wilson of Terre Haute, and RaeLynn Boes and husband Mark of Lafayette; three
grandsons; three great-grandsons; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death
by a daughter, Mary Joyce Quinn, who died Feb. 23, 1995.Services were 2 p.m.
Wednesday in Frist Funeral Home in Clinton with Bob Howard officiating. Burial was in
Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute. Visitation was 1 p.m. until services Wednesday.

Miller, Anna M.
Anna M. Miller, 81, of Terre Haute, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2008, in her
residence. She was born Feb. 24, 1927, in Terre Haute, to Michael R. Dwyer and
Clarabelle Britton Dwyer. She married Alfred R. Miller, and he preceded her in death Jan.
21, 1996. She was a homemaker, and had also worked at Bemis Co. Inc., and Hooks Drug
Store. Survivors include four children, Charles Lankford, Virginia Collins, James Parsons,
and Vicki Ready and husband John, all of Terre Haute; a step-son, Russell E. Miller and
wife Cheryl of Terre Haute; 11 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; 13
great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two step
great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in
death by her parents; a son, Mike Miller; six brothers; and one sister.She was a member of
Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and loved gospel music. Services are 2 p.m.
Wednesday at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St. Burial will follow at Roselawn
Memorial Park. Visitation is 1 p.m. until services Wednesday.
