Imogene Wodicka

TERRE HAUTE — Imogene Wodicka, 82, of Terre Haute, passed away Saturday, Jan. 28,
2012, at Meadows Manor East. She was born Nov. 20, 1929, in Oakland, Ill., to Jerome
and Alice (Davis) Herring. She married Richard Wodicka on Nov. 7, 1948. Imogene was a
graduate of Gerstmeyer High School. She and Richard were founding members of St.
Mark’s United Church of Christ. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, and community
service work. Imogene was a devoted wife and mother and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her sons, Dr. David Wodicka and wife Sonya of Lynchburg, Va., and
Keith Wodicka of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Brent Wodicka and wife Lauren of
Leesburg, Va., Dr. Ross Wodicka of Miami, and Reid Wodicka of Charlotte, N.C.; great-
grandson, Jack Wodicka of Leesburg; and a brother, Jack Herring and wife Dorothy of
Youngstown, Ohio.

Imogene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; and a brother, Bill
Herring.

Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at Roselawn Funeral
Home, with services at 2 p.m. The Rev. Teresa Higus will be officiating. Burial will follow in
Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mark’s United

Robert B. Moffitt

TERRE HAUTE — Robert B. Moffitt, 82, of Washington, D.C., passed away Jan. 21, 2012,
at the Washington D.C. VA Medical Center. He was born Dec. 26, 1929, to James Robert
and Margaret Mary (Long) Moffitt. He was a graduate of Gerstmeyer High School. Robert
proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed classic cars.

Robert is survived by his brother, Donald E. Moffitt of San Mateo, Calif.; and a sister,
Colleen R. Edmonson of Tucson, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral ceremony will be held on Thursday, Feb, 2, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Roselawn
Memorial Park’s Chapel of Memories, with Pastor David Rockhill officiating. Military rites
will be performed by Veterans of Foreigna Wars Post 972. Entombment will follow. Online

Susan D. T. ‘Ann’ Stoker

Susan D. T. “Ann” Stoker, 91, of Terre Haute, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, in Terre
Haute Nursing Home. She was born July 21, 1920, in Strathmiglo, Scotland, to Campbell
Ford and Magdalen Terras Ford. She had worked in the bookstore at Indiana State
University.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Harvey and her husband Leon of Terre
Haute and Linda Lee Gillespie of Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren, Tonya Acord,
Tamara Bolton and her husband Dean, Donald Sanders and his wife Jennifer, and
William and Jessica Gillespie; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George B. Stoker; a sister,
Grace Farrell; and a brother, Clare Ford.

Ann was a member of Maple Avenue United Methodist Church, Badoura Temple No. 23
Daughters of the Nile, and the Wabash Valley Scottish Society. She also was a 5 1/2 year
veteran of the British Army.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, in Callahan & Hughes
Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St., with the Rev. David Rockhill officiating. Visitation is
scheduled from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, in the funeral home. Burial will be in
Roselawn Memorial Park with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972. The
family kindly requests that memorial contributions may be made to The Shriners Hospital

Sonia Jean (Jones) Cunningham

Sonia Jean (Jones) Cunningham, of Terre Haute passed away on Feb. 1, 2012. She was
born on Sept. 30, 1933, to Alfred Allen and Viola (Warren) Jones. Sonia was the
youngest of Al and Viola’s 11 children. She graduated from State Lab High School. Sonia
was a very talented pianist. She loved cooking, especially for her family. Her house was
the family gathering place for the holidays and she always made everyone feel welcomed
and loved. Sonia was a loving mother, doting grandmother, and always made sure to put
the needs of her family ahead of her own. She cherished her small dogs. Sonia also
enjoyed travelling to Florida.

Sonia is survived by her husband, Fred Cunningham; her children, Janet Martin of Terre
Haute, Randall Martin of Terre Haute, Douglas Martin of Terre Haute, and Carol (Martin)
Doolittle of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandchildren, Christine (Dickerson) Taylor and husband
Micah of North Carolina, Brian Dickerson and his fiancé Katie McNair of Terre Haute,
Jennifer (Martin) Beeler of Indianapolis, Sarah Doolittle of New Mexico, and Steven
Doolittle of New Mexico; great-granddaughter, Charlotte Taylor of North Carolina; a sister,
Maxine Commons of Indianapolis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Lucille, Marie, Alfred, Ruth,
Vera, Coyt, Bob, Delmar, and Ernestine.

Family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. on Monday, February 6, at Roselawn
Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may

Donald Paul Perkins

TERRE HAUTE — Donald Paul Perkins, of Terre Haute, passed away peacefully on the
morning of Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at Royal Oaks Health Care and Rehabilitation Center,
at the age of 78. Donald was born on May 8, 1933, in Terre Haute, the son of the Rev. G.
Glenn and Fern R. (Burns) Perkins. He was united in marriage to his loving wife of over
40 years, the former Karen S. Page on Sept. 4, 1969. He worked for several years as a
fork truck driver at J.I. Case, enjoyed riding motorcycles, and spending time in his yard.

In addition to his loving wife, Karen, Don leaves behind his son, Kevin G. Perkins of
Tucson, Ariz.; brothers, Jim and wife Bobbie of Georgetown, Texas., Marvin and wife
Sharon of Hilliard, Fla., and Gary and wife Beverly of Montgomery, Texas; and his sister,
Betty Malz of Clearwater, Fla. Donald also is survived by several nieces and nephews;
great-nieces and great-nephews; and several cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Gene; niece,
Brenda (Upchurch) Smart; and also a brother-in-law, Johnny Upchurch.

Cremation will take place with private burial following in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Virginia M. Davis

TERRE HAUTE — Virginia M. Davis, 92, of Mooresville, Ind., and formerly of Terre Haute,
died Wednesday evening, Feb. 1, 2012, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Mooresville. She was
born Sept. 5, 1919, in Washington, Ind., to Clifford P. Denson and Irene M. Cooper
Denson.

Survivors include her daughter, Kay L. Moster of Plainfield, Ind.; two grandsons, Scott
Moster of Plainfield and Joshua Moster of Chicago, Ill.; a sister, Carolyn A. Stuber of
Bangor, Maine; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was
preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Robert J. Denson and Raymond
“Bud” Denson.

Virginia was retired from Roots Department Store, where she was employed for over 30
years. She was a buyer and merchandiser for several departments. Virginia was an active
member of Bible Baptist Church, where she was involved in many ministries.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, in Callahan &
Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Pastor Bert Baker officiating.  Burial
will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park with Pastor Bob Parker officiating.  Visitation is
scheduled for Monday, Feb. 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. The family kindly

Daniel T. Baggs

TERRE HAUTE — Daniel T. Baggs, 92, of Marshall, Ill., passed away Saturday, Feb. 4,
2012, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born April 8, 1919, in Wabash Township,
of Clark County, Ill., the son of Daniel Baggs and Nora Thompson Baggs. He married
Berniece Somers on Jan. 10, 1942, in Terre Haute. He retired from Quaker Maid of Terre
Haute on May 22, 1981, following retirement he worked at First Financial Bank, and had
been an usher at Hulman Civic Center.

Surviving are his wife, Berniece; a brother-in-law, Norman “Gib” (Mary) Somers of
Marshall; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Kirby of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Clarence Baggs, Martin Baggs, Eck Baggs,
Clell Baggs, and Ray Bags; and four sisters, Mable Baggs, Marie Sweitzer, Belva Sears
and Ruth Kasemeyer.

Serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he was with the 81st Infantry Division, 322
Regiment, Company L in Hawaii and Philippine Islands, where he was seriously wounded
at the Battle of Anguar and received the Purple Heart. He continued his service to our
county and was discharged in 1945. He also was awarded two Bronze Stars and the
World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 792 and
Post 104 of the American Legion, both of Terre Haute.

Services in honor of his life will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, in Callahan-DeBaun
Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave., in Terre Haute, with the Rev. David Deal officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park with military graveside rites. Visitation will be from
11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Arrangements have been
entrusted to Pearce Funeral Home, of Marshall, Ill.
Hallie Jean Hudson

TERRE HAUTE — Hallie Jean Hudson, 84, of Terre Haute, beloved aunt, cousin and
friend went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at Kindred – Southwood.
She was born Jan. 2, 1928, in Terre Haute, along with her identical twin sister, the
daughter of Donald and Laura (Laney) Hudson.

Jean graduated from State High School with the class of 1946. Following her graduation,
she began her employment with R.H. Donnelly, retiring in 1987 following 36 years of
service.

A strong and devout faithful woman, Jean was a dedicated member of Maple Avenue
United Methodist Church. She always had a smile and loved bringing joy to those around
her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her two nephews, Tony Gazzoli of Springfield, Ill., and Nick and wife
Kristy Gazzoli of Mahomet, Ill.; along with many cousins and friends. In addition to her
parents, Jean was preceded in death by her twin sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Nick
Gazzoli.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, from 11 a.m. until the time of Jean’s funeral at
1 p.m., in Roselawn Funeral Home. The Rev. David Rockhill will officiate. Burial will follow
at Roselawn Memorial Park. In memory of Jean, memorial contributions may be directed to

Alberta L. Sidenbender

TERRE HAUTE — Alberta L. Sidenbender, 91, of Terre Haute, passed away at 11:51 a.m.
Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, in Cobblestone Crossing. She worked as a lab technician and in
the office at IMC, retiring in May of 1982. Alberta was born May 18, 1920, in Clay County,
Ind., to Rex Killion and Iva (Orman) Killion.

She is survived by five nieces and nephews, Cathy Sheridan, Mark Killion, Stephanie
Hasecuster, Beth Traub, and Gary Killion; and cousins, many life-long friends, and
sorority sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond P. Sidenbender, who
died Dec. 11, 1983; and two brothers, Cecil E. Killion and Hershel W. Killion.

Alberta was a member of Maryland Community Church, a 65-year-member of Beta Sigma
Phi sorority, where she never missed a meeting in 65 years. She also was a member of
the Veteran of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and Eagles Lodge.

Cremation is scheduled with private burial at a later date in Roselawn Memorial Park. Beta
Sigma Phi sorority will be conducting a memorial service at a later date. The family would
like to thank the staff at Cobblestone Crossing for their caring and compassionate service.

Donna L. Stanfield

TERRE HAUTE — Donna L. Stanfield, 82, of Pendleton, formerly of Terre Haute, passed
away on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at Rawlins House in Pendleton. She was born March 11,
1929, in Terre Haute, to Alexander and Ethel Murl (Youmans) Weir. She married
Raymond Stanfield, and together they had a son, Mark. Donna was a graduate of Indiana
State Teachers’ College (now Indiana State University). She taught elementary school for
several years before she became a full-time homemaker. She was a talented artist and
especially enjoyed painting. Donna also loved to travel. She was a wonderful homemaker
and mother and will be truly missed.

Donna is survived by her son, Mark Stanfield of Markleville; grandsons, Caleb and Elijah
Stanfield of Pendleton; and a brother, James Weir and wife Judy of Dohlonga, Ga. She
was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, from 1 to 2 p.m., at Roselawn Funeral Home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kyle Andrews

Virginia M. Walker

Virginia M. Walker, 95, of Brazil, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at Regional
Hospital. She was born Jan. 12, 1917, in Terre Haute, to Henry and Martha (Weese)
Kimple. She married Charles S. Walker, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 2007.
Virginia enjoyed traveling with Charlie and went on many bus tours throughout the United
States.

Virginia is survived by her son, Melvin Smithhart and wife Mary of Brazil; three grandsons,
Mark and Andrew Smithhart, both of Brazil, and John Smithhart Sr. of Sanford, Fla.; three
granddaughters, Cindy Morgan and husband Tom of Stone Island, Fla., Lori Burgess and
husband Robert of Sanford, Fla., and Jamie Rogers and husband Brian of Longwood,
Fla.; seven great-grandchildren, LaTisha Bowlin, John Smithhart Jr., Britnee Burgess,
Andrew Burgess, Valerie Smithhart, all of Sanford, Fla., Tiffany Smithhart of Brazil, and
Christian Rogers of Longwood, Fla.; and two great-great-grandchildren, Sarah and
Matthew Bowlin of Sanford, Fla..

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 45 years; brothers, John and
Albert "Hap" Farmer; and sisters, Blanche Staggs and Margaret Heath.

Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral

Robert H. Austin

Robert H. Austin, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away Monday
evening, Feb. 6, 2012, at the age of 85. Robert was born Dec. 16, 1926, in Princeton, the
son of the late Louis and Hazel (Jones) Austin. On Sept. 20, 1952, Robert was united in
marriage to his loving wife, the former Edith Wible. Together they shared nearly 60 years
of marriage. Robert greatly loved his job and retired in 1983 from the U.S. Post Office,
where he worked for 38 years as a rural letter carrier.

He was a member of the Church of Christ, was a past state president of the Indiana Rural
Letter Carriers, and a member of the National Retired Federal Employees. Robert also
received a Million Mile award from the National Safety Council for driving more than
25,000 hours on rural routes without an accident. He greatly loved his family, enjoyed
spending time with his grandchildren, and loved to sing and whistle. He will forever be
remembered as a hardworking and loving man, who will be missed by all.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Edith; children, Lois and husband David
Sullivan of Sarasota, Fla., Eric and wife Nola Austin of Terre Haute, and Caroline and
husband Keith Woodason of Dalton, Ga..; grandchildren, Corey, Kelsey and Kathryn
Sullivan, Adam and Evan Austin, and Ben, Andrea, Nathan and Lucas Woodason; one
great-grandchild on the way; a sister, Wilma Beckerman of Princeton; and several nieces
and nephews. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother,
Louis Austin Jr.

Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, from 5 to 8 p.m., and again on Friday, Feb. 10,
2012, from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 10 a.m., at Roselawn Funeral Home Burial

Margaret Hancock Johns Webber

Margaret Hancock Johns Webber passed away Feb. 5, 2012, in Tiffany Heights Nursing
home in Mound City, Mo. She was born April 2, 1916, to John Wesley and Ora Hayne
Hancock.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Webber; a son, Leroy Johns; and a
son-in-law, Richard Foote.

She is survived by two sons, Jerry Johns and wife Gale of Aurora Grande, Calif., and Bill
Johns and wife Karen of Lady Lake, Fla.; two daughters, Rose Marie Foote of Fairbanks,
Ind., and Georgia Ann Jeffers and husband Kenneth of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; sister-in-law, Betty
Johns; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Christian Church in Mound City. She retired after 10 years service
with Kramer Chair Company in Kansas City, Kan. Margaret and her husband were
caretakers at the Pierson Farm in Mound City. She will be sadly missed.

Cremation was chosen with private graveside services at Roselawn Cemetery in Terre
Haute. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her honor may be made to Kendallwood
Hospice 2908 Northwest Vivion Road, Riverside, MO. 64150.
Betty Anderson

Betty Anderson, beloved mother, grammy and great-grammy, peacefully passed away on
Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at Northwest Community Hospital, in Arlington Heights. Betty was  
born and raised in Terre Haute, and always considered this her home. Betty was 86 years
young, cherished her family and will be forever missed.

Children, Glenn Allenbaugh, who preceded her in death; daughter, Robyn Richardson
(nee) Allenbaugh; son-in-law, James Richardson; and son, Chip Anderson; grandchildren,
Jeremy Allenbaugh, Megan Akoto, Thaddeus Allenbaugh, Jack Anderson and Matt
Anderson; and great-grandchildren, Abigail Allenbaugh and Ashton Allenbaugh. Betty also
was preceded in death by her sisters, Catherine Culver and Lela Goodwin; and brother,
Robert Apple. Survived by sisters, Dorothy Henry and Mary Collins. She had many nieces
and nephews, and she will be truly missed by all.

Mary J. Polifroni

TERRE HAUTE — Mary Josephine Polifroni, 88, of Terre Haute, passed away on Friday,
Feb. 10, 2012, at Union Hospital. She was born on Dec. 2, 1923, in Clay County, to
Joseph and Dominica (Marietta) Costa. She married Bruno Polifroni on Oct. 15, 1945, and
together they raised two children. Mary was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed sewing,
gardening, and crossword puzzles. She loved to spend time with her children and
grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her children, Sharon Polifroni of Belleville, Mich., and Michael Polifroni
and his wife Susan of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Jennifer and Rebecca Polifroni, both of
Terre Haute, Nicholas Polifroni of Portland, Maine, and Zachary and Mary Polifroni, both of
Belleville; a great-granddaughter, Dominique Tilford of Terre Haute; and several cousins,
nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Jack, Robert and
Dominic Costa; and a sister, Patricia Lawson.

Visitation will be on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral
Home, 7500 N. Clinton St. Services will be on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the
funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. William Coker officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn

Walter L. Engle, Jr.

Walter L. Engle, Jr. of Terre Haute, passed away Wednesday morning, Feb. 8, 2012, at
his residence at the age of 83. He was born on Dec. 7, 1928, to Walter and Jessie Mae
(Bruffy) Engle in Danville, Ill., and moved to Terre Haute as a young child.

He married Bonnie Lou Woodruff on Aug. 22, 1954, and she survives. Also surviving are a
son, Marc and wife Melody Engle of Lebanon, Tenn.; and a daughter, Michelle Chapman
and husband Al of Shreveport, La. Walter also leaves behind two granddaughters, Leslie
Seamark and husband Doug of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., and Ryanne Comerford
and husband Kenn of Shreveport; great-grandchildren, Alex, Eddie, Ella and Grace
Seamark and Josephine and Robert Augustus Comerford.

Walter served as a marine in Korea. He graduated from Indiana State University and
taught at Garfield and Terre Haute North High Schools. He also was a member of the
Masonic Lodge No. 19 and the Scottish Rite.

There will be no services. Roselawn Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

William E. Goodman

William E. Goodman, 87, of Clinton, died at 4:08 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, in Vermillion
Convalescent Center. He was born June 23, 1924, in Sullivan, to Ray Goodman and
Mildred Watters Goodman. He was a retired supervisor from Alcan. He was a U.S. Air
Force veteran serving during World War II. He later married Margaret Piani in 1948, and
graduated from Indiana State University in 1949.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, John Goodman and his wife
Margaret Goodman. He is survived by one son, Mike Goodman DDS of Middleton, Ind.;
and one sister, Peg Rowe of Terre Haute.

He was a member of the Jerusalem 99 Free and Accepted Masons, Veterans of Foreign
Wars 6653, American Legion 140 and Vermillion County Low Twelve Club.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at Frist Funeral Home, 458
Blackman St., in Clinton. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday with Bob Howard officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, at the funeral home.


Sandra Geraldine Delaise

Sandra Geraldine Delaise, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away on Friday,
February 17, 2012 at Houston Hospice in Houston, TX. at the age of 66 after a
courageous battle with cancer.

Sandra was born on April 21, 1945 in Clinton, the daughter of the late Theodore Wiley
and Geneva Allie (Davies) Jones.

She was united in marriage to Robert P. Delaise, and together they shared nearly forty
years together. A hardworking and determined woman, Sandra began working at Eli Lilly
and worked from the ground up, eventually retiring from the Human Resources
Department. As a dedicated and loving family woman, Sandra always put others before
herself. She greatly loved her family and friends, and also enjoyed traveling, playing
dominos, country rides and being near the ocean. Her generous, giving and loving spirit
will live on in the hearts of those she touched for generations to come.

Sandra leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Robert P. Delaise; children, Angel and
husband Jeff Wineinger, Tony and wife Sherri Haymaker, Brandy Delaise and Paul and
wife Dahlia Delaise. She will forever be remembered by her grandchildren, Cassie and
husband Andy Ellis, Torre and husband Justin Ditto, Nathan and Alyssa Haymaker,
Mackenzie, Noah and Landon Delaise and Matthias and Belen Delaise. Sandra is also
survived by her great-grandchildren, Cael and Emma Ellis, Troy Ditto and Baby Ditto on
the way

In addition to her parents, Sandra was welcomed home to heaven by her brothers,
Theodore and Robert Lee Jones.

The entire Delaise family would like to extend a special thanks to Houston Hospice for the
compassionate care that was provided to Sandra in her final days.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 11 a.m. until the time of
Sandra's Funeral at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of North Terre Haute. Burial will
follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, those desiring, may direct memory

Dana L. Brown

Dana L. Brown, 82, of Doraville, GA, formerly of Terre Haute, went home to be with his
Lord on Saturday, February 18, 2012. Dana was a staff sergeant with the U S Air Force
and served in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He held various management positions in
Indiana, Ohio and Chicago while employed with AT & T with 34 years of service. After
retirement he moved to Georgia and delivered flowers for Embry Hills Florist. He loved
fishing, yard work, baseball and was a videographer, taping weddings and the Sunday
church worship services. Dana loved the Lord and served Him throughout his life. He was
instrumental in starting congregations in Indiana including serving as minister of many new
congregations. He was a member of Tucker Christian Church for 28 years where he
served as an Elder and Sunday School teacher. He was an encourager and mentor to
many.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Phyllis Brown; daughters and their spouses, Linda &
Randy May, Nancy & Fred Ringer, Carla & Bob Lepper, Karen & Tim Tucker, Terri & Tim
Marchetti, Donna & Dan Pugh; brother, Jim & Nema Brown. Dana is also survived by his 11
grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.   

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 9 – 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral
Home.  Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 24 at the funeral home with
Mike Eaton officiating.  Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park with military rites

Robert Wayne Farr

TERRE HAUTE — Robert Wayne Farr, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed
away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, with his
family by his side. Robert was born on June 26, 1928, in Terre Haute, the son of the late
John and Minnie (Brewer) Farr. He proudly served our country in World War II in Europe
as a Sgt. Major with the U.S. Army. Robert worked for the U.S. Bureau of Prisons as a unit
manager, and retired after 26 years of service from the U.S. Federal Penitentiary in Terre
Haute. He greatly loved his children, grandchildren and dog, T-Rex. Robert also enjoyed
woodworking, and was a frequent at the Covered Bridge Festival for some time.

He leaves behind his loving wife of nearly 47 years, the former Juliette Medlin of Terre
Haute; daughter, Lisa and husband Mikel St. John of Texas; grandchildren, Amanda
Durham of Indianapolis, Ashley St. John of Texas and Mikel St. John Jr. of Texas; dear
friend, John Hagermier of Terre Haute; along with several in-laws, nieces, nephews, and
friends.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Janet Elaine
Swart; brother, Frank Albert Farr; sisters, Beatrice Josephine Brewer and Wyneta Messick;
along with his infant siblings, Chester Farr and Helen Farr.

Cremation will take place with private entombment in Roselawn Memorial Park Chapel of
Memories. Robert’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Royal Oaks
Health Care and Rehabilitation Center and Union Hospital for the compassionate care they

Victor Ketcham Jr.

TERRE HAUTE — Victor Ketcham Jr., 84, of Terre Haute, passed away on Saturday, Feb.
18, 2012, at Indiana Heart Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on Oct. 25, 1927, in
Washington, Ind., to Victor Capp and Lottie Maureen (Martin) Ketcham. He married
Priscilla Jane Engle in 1949 and she preceded him in death in 1989. Victor proudly served
in the U.S. Army in France at the end of World War II and then was recalled in 1951 to
serve in Panama. He worked for Stran Steel from 1950 until his retirement in 1981. He
worked at the Tribune Star from 1985 until his retirement in 2010. Victor was a man with a
strong work ethic and a love for his family. He enjoyed his Friday night pinochle games
and was an avid Indiana Pacers fan. He will be dearly missed.

Victor is survived by his daughter, Vickie J. Smead and her husband Brian of Terre Haute;
a brother, Max Ketcham and his wife Shirley of Indianapolis; a sister, Virginia Kougl of
Yelm, Wash.; his companion of many years, Velma Phillips and her two sons, Jerry Davis
and wife Debbie and Bobby Davis and his wife Debbie, all of Terre Haute; eight
grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 40 years, Priscilla; a sister, Carrie
“Betty” (Milner) Walters; and an honorary daughter, Dee Ann Phillips.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at Thomas Funeral Home.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastor Edward A.

Joan ‘Jo’ Ripple-Dennis

TERRE HAUTE — Joan “Jo” Ripple-Dennis, passed away quietly after a 15 year off again
and on again battle with cancer on Feb. 20, 2012, at the age of 79. Joan was born in
Paris, Ill., on May 2, 1932, to the late Charles and Esther (Allen) Ripple. Jo married her
husband, John R. “Jack” Dennis, on June 27, 1953, in Terre Haute. Together they shared
more than 46 years of marriage, until his death on March 21, 1999.

She worked alongside her husband for many years at Dennis Trucking, until her
retirement in 1994. Later in life Jo fulfilled her lifelong dream of being baptized in the
Catholic church, and was baptized at St. Benedict’s Church at the ripe age of 75. She also
worked weekly at the soup kitchen for “St. Ben’s” until her illness would no longer allow her
to serve. Anyone who knew Jo also knew she had a fondness for animals, and always had
a dog, or two, or three. She also was very active within the ladies auxiliary of several
organizations. Jo was a person in her own service, and will live on in the hearts of those
she touched for generations to come.

She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Eileen Dennis-David and Dawn’s two children,
Maria Eileen David and John “J.R.” David, all of Terre Haute; her son, John “Jackie”
Dennis of Terre Haute, and his two children, Kellie Sue and husband Jeff Ho and their two
sons of Plainfield, and Angela Kay Dennis of Terre Haute; brother-in-law, Jay W. Dennis of
Rosedale; several other relatives and many grand-dogs and grand-cats. Jo also will be
deeply missed by her wonderful and loving Yorkie, Cindy, and her beautiful cat, Charmer.

Services will be private. Burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers,

Rollie Ray Galey

TERRE HAUTE — Rollie Ray Galey, a remarkable husband, father, grandfather, brother,
uncle and friend passed away on the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at his
residence in Terre Haute, at the age of 86, with Gary, Tina and Fritz by his side.

Rollie was born in Dalson Township, Clark County, Ill., on Nov. 28, 1925, the oldest child of
the late James and Ruth (Walls) Cannaday. Rollie was a proud United States Navy
veteran, serving during World War II. His perseverance and strong will allowed him to
survive being washed overboard from his ship in the North Atlantic coming from the United
States. He then landed with the first wave at Omaha beach on D-Day. During his time in
the service, Rollie also stepped on a land mine and spent six months in the hospital
recovering from his wounds. He later would be awarded a Purple Heart award on the 57th
anniversary of Normandy. Upon returning home from the war, Rollie was united in marriage
to the love of his life, the former Pauline Smith on June 28, 1946, in Terre Haute. Their
marriage was blessed with over 65 years and three children. Rollie retired in the late 1970’
s from the Federal Bureau of Prisons as a Senior Officer Specialist. He was a very well
respected correctional officer, and enjoyed keeping in contact with all of those he had
formed bonds with throughout the years.

Rollie enjoyed taking walks through the neighborhood, fishing and gardening (especially
growing tomatoes). He loved being surrounded by his friends and family and especially
enjoyed relating to children. He will forever be remembered as a man who was able to
relate to anyone, from any walk of life, extremely dedicated to his family, hardworking and
loving. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched for generations to come.

Rollie leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Pauline of Terre Haute; children, Gary
Galey of Terre Haute, and Tina and husband Jimmy Horrall of Terre Haute; daughter-in-
law, Pat Galey of Tallahassee, Fla.; grandchildren, Mark and wife Tammy Galey of
Tallahassee, Sheila and husband Walt Efferen of Gainsville, Fla., Elizabeth and husband
Blake Reed of Terre Haute; and his special honorary granddaughter, Marla and husband
Erik Wickens of Avon. Rollie also leaves behind his great-grandchildren whom he adored,
Michael and Monica, as well as his siblings, Freda and husband Plen Smith of West Terre
Haute, Lou and husband Charles Dunham of West Terre Haute and James Cannaday of
Dennison, Ill.; sister-in-law, Marietta Cannaday of Terre Haute; his beloved pitbull, Fritz;
and several nieces and nephews, Galey and Cannaday family members and friends of all
ages in all places.

In addition to his parents, Rollie was preceded in death by his son, Jack Galey; and his
brother, John Cannaday.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time
of Rollie’s Funeral at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home in Terre Haute. Burial with military

Helen C. (Klotz) Nesbit

TERRE HAUTE — Helen C. (Klotz) Nesbit, age 93, passed away Thursday evening, Feb.
16, 2012, at Kindred Transitional Care in Greenwood. She was a resident of Bargersville
and former resident of Terre Haute. Helen was born Dec. 12, 1918, in Terre Haute, to the
late John and Lulu (Ronan) Klotz. She was a 1937 graduate of Gerstmeyer Technical High
School. She retired in 1975 from Quaker Maid after 25 years of service.

Survivors include one daughter, Margi and husband Allen Logan of Bargersville; one
grandson, Cary and wife Rachelle Morris of Greenwood; and two great-grandchildren,
Evan Morris of Greenwood, and Brooke Morris of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; and sister-
in-law and best friend, Eva Klotz of Terre Haute.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Nesbit in 1994; two brothers, Jennings
and Tom Klotz; and one sister, Margaret (Klotz) Newport.

Father Edmund Goldbach will conduct a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27,
2012, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 111 S. Ninth St., in Terre Haute, with interment at
noon Monday in Roselawn Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to

Imogene ‘Jean’ Hayward

Imogene Burk Hayward, 93, of Terre Haute, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012.
She was born on Oct. 4, 1918, in Terre Haute, to Raymond and Blanch (Champer) Burk.
She was married to the late Darwin E. Hayward. Jean was an excellent seamstress for
many years. She managed the Factory Fabrics Store south of Terre Haute. She was a
member of the Order of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Susan Skeel and her husband Jim of West Terre Haute;
sons, David E. Hayward and his wife Sierra of Brazil, and Douglas E. Hayward and his wife
Sandy of Cincinnati; grandsons, Darrin E. Hayward of Indianapolis, Jason Skeel and his
wife Laura of  Terre Haute, Andy Skeel of Des Moines, Iowa, and Darwin E. Hayward and
his wife Melissa of Baltimore; and great-grandsons, Dylan, Dean, and Dalsyn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Jack E. Burk and Bill
Burk; and a sister, Carolyn All.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at Roselawn Funeral

Mary Lee Bailey

Mary Lee Bailey, 62, of Terre Haute, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, in Union
Hospital. She was born in Terre Haute, on Aug. 25, 1949, to Abel Archer and Mary Lou
Carson Archer.

She is survived by her husband, Charles L. Bailey, whom she married March 27, 1971.
She also is survived by her parents, Abel and Mary Lou Archer; one son, Andrew D. Bailey
and wife Valerie, and their children Whitney and Aidan. She also is survived by two
daughters, Elizabeth Lee Randolph and husband Brennan and their children, Caleb and
Madison; and one daughter, Mary Ann Stewart and husband Michael. Also surviving is one
sister, Ruth Ridener and husband Allan; special friends, Brian and Carrie Allen; special
cousins, David and Linda Bailey; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was a graduate of Indiana State University, with both a master’s degree and a
bachelor’s of science degree in early childhood education. She was vice-president of the
Vigo County Federal Credit Union. She was a member of First Baptist Church in West
Terre Haute, and Harrison College Advisory Board, and was a graduate of the C.U.N.A.
Management School. She loved to sing in the church choir and also taught Junior Church
there, and also played clarinet in the orchestra. She was a Godly mother, a loving
grandmother, as her grandchildren were an important part of her life, and was a blessing
to her entire family and friends.

Funeral services will be in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, on Monday,
Feb. 27, 2012, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jeff Augustus officiating. Visitation is scheduled for

Betty L. Wilkey

Betty L. Wilkey, 86, of Terre Haute, passed away at 12:50 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, in
Davis Gardens Health Care Center. She worked for podiatrists Dr. Presley, Dr. Henke, and
Dr. Dawson. Betty was born March 12, 1925, in Terre Haute, to Harley Spears and
Blanche (Dossett) Spears.

She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Searing and her husband Dutch of Terre Haute; two
sons, Dennis Wilkey and his wife Laura and Steve Wilkey and his wife Libby, all of Terre
Haute; grandchildren, Aaron Wilkey and his wife Amy, Amy Staley and her husband Bob,
and Dawn Lawson; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Geraldine Fell of Jupiter, Fla.;
sister-in-law, Evelyn Steele of California; a niece, Janice Tenvoorde of California; and four
nephews in Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William “Bill”
Wilkey, who died November of 2008; and a sister, Maxine Pershing, who died April of 2008.

Winston Bryant Henderson

TERRE HAUTE — Winston Bryant Henderson, 94, of Terre Haute, passed away Saturday
evening, Feb. 25, 2012. He was born in Evansville, Sept. 24, 1917, to Ralph Nichols
Henderson and Inez Bryant Henderson.

He is survived by his second wife, Mary Elizabeth Henderson; two sons, Kim Henderson
and wife Helen of Trafalgar and Eric Henderson; one daughter, Marla Farris and husband
Todd of Greencastle; two stepchildren, Dick Pate and wife Kathy of Charleston, S.C., and
Becky Harvey and husband Ron of San Antonio; six grandchildren, Hillery Ann Harvey-
Hays, Julia Harvey Old, Amy Hyatt, Ashley Brosey,  Ryan Farris, and Katie Farris; and six
great-grandchildren, Sawyer Harvey-Hays, Ivy Harvey-Hays, William Hyatt, Grayer Hyatt,
Henry Brosey and Mimi Brosey. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife,
Lois Veach Henderson; and brother, Robert Henderson

He graduated from Iowa State University in 1941 and was a member of Phi Kappa Psi
fraternity. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1944. He was a
lifelong member of the Boy Scouts of America. He was awarded Eagle Scout in 1933 and
then earned the title of Silver Beaver in 1996

As a devout Christian he was a very active member of his church, Maplewood Christian
Church, where he served as a deacon and chairman of the church board and taught Bible
study for many years. He worked for more than 20 years at Columbia House as director of
purchasing. He was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman, huge fan of local high school and
college basketball and a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. He also was a 50-year-member of
Masonic Lodge 19, Scottish Rite of Wabash Valley, Terre Haute Zorah Shrine Temple,
Terre Haute Elks Lodge 86, Charter member of the Northside Optimist Breakfast Club,
American Cancer Society, and Vigo County Historical Society.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home
& Crematory, 4660 Lafayette Ave., with Masonic services to be conducted by Masonic
Lodge 19. The Rev. Craig Wineinger will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday 11 a.m.
until services. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.


Tina A. Bowers Abercrombie

TERRE HAUTE — Tina A. Bowers Abercrombie, 92, of Terre Haute, died Saturday, Feb.
25, 2012, in Meadows Manor East. She was born March 12, 1919 in Otwell, Ind., to
Edward Ashcraft and Mary Postlewaite Ashcraft.

Survivors include one sister, Lorene Meise of Winnetka, Calif.; one nephew, Larry Meise
of California; and two nieces, Lora Lee Lane of California and Mary Jo Slater of Terre
Haute. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Bowers and Noble
Abercrombie; her parents; and two brothers, Arthur Ashcraft and Eddie Ashcraft.          

Tina was a member of Bible Baptist Church. She retired from Root’s Department Store in
1982.   

Funeral services are scheduled at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, in Callahan &
Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street with Pastor Bob Parker officiating.  Burial will be
in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to services on
Wednesday.
