Margaret A. Haton
TERRE HAUTE — Margaret A. Haton, 67, of Terre Haute, passed away Monday, Sept.
27, 2010, at Union Hospital. She was born June 14, 1943, in Terre Haute, she was the
daughter of William Fredrick Peters and Cleo Imogene (Hagemier) Peters. She married
Bill R. Haton Jr. and he survives. Margaret was self employed through Home Interior
Designs. She was president of Hoosier Home Spun Mini’s. Her hobbies included collecting
and displaying miniature houses and photography.
Survivors in addition to her husband include a son, Jeff Haton and wife Renay of
Summerville, S.C.; three grandchildren, Shane, Raegan, and Gryffin Haton, all of South
Carolina; two sisters, Judy Greenwell and husband Jim of Terre Haute, and Karen Sink
and husband Jerry of Jasonville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was
preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; and three brothers, Richard, Jerry, and
Donnie Peters.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until noon today at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St.
Funeral services are at noon today, with Pastors Jerry Sink and Tim Orr officiating. Burial
will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.


Brian Keith Loveless
BRAZIL — Brian Keith Loveless, 42, of Brazil, passed away Sept. 29, 2010, at home with
his family by his side following a five-year battle with Pseudomyxoma Peritonei, a rare
cancer of the appendix. He was born Jan, 18, 1968, in Terre Haute, the son of Keith and
Suzanne (Williams) Loveless. Brian graduated from Terre Haute South High School with
the class of 1986, and later from Ivy Tech with an associates degree in Industrial
Technology.
Brian had worked at Gibault School in South Terre Haute, Sony, Royal Oaks Health and
Rehabilitation Center, and most recently Hickory Creek at Sunset as a maintenance
supervisor. He also had worked at NAPA, in Brazil, in 2006 to 2007, where he became
acquainted with many friends.
In his free time, he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson. Brian was a popular area musician
singing and playing bass guitar in several bands, mostly Hit-N-Run. He also was talented
at fixing and constructing anything.
He was preceded in death by his father, Keith E. Loveless; grandfather, Emmett Loveless;
and grandmother, Marguerite Williams. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; daughters, Jordyn
Brown and fiancé Eric Koch, and Brookley Brown, all of Brazil; grandson, Landon Higgins;
granddaughter, Vivien Koch; mother, Suzanne Johnson of Fishers; sister, Betsy Loveless
of Virginia; a brother, Brandon Loveless of Terre Haute; as well as several additional
extended family members.
Services will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., in Brazil, Monday, Oct. 4,
2010, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Howard Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn
Cemetery, in Terre Haute. Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. In

Kenneth D. Tippy
Kenneth D. Tippy, 62, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at 1:03 p.m. in The
Waters of Greencastle. He was born Oct. 29, 1947, in Terre Haute to Edgar Tippy and
Helen Robeck Tippy.
Kenneth was a Vietnam War Veteran with the 101st Airborne Division of the United States
Army. He had been employed by Ryder as a truck driver and had been a member of the
Honey Creek Volunteer Fire Department serving as a former chief for the department.
Kenneth’s favorite pastimes were going fishing and boating.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Gary Watson and one sister, Kay
Francis. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Donna Tippy; two daughters, Monica and Teal
Tippy; two stepchildren, Amanda Dye and her husband Darrel and Joshua Sweet and his
wife Starla; two brothers; Wayne Watson and his wife Mary and Larry Watson; three
sisters; Shirley Garvey and her husband Raymond, Vicki Blitz and her husband Gene and
Patsy Hall. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several
nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th
St., Terre Haute. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, Tom
Rooksberry will be officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park with American

Kayson Adam Houston
Kayson Adam Houston, infant son of Kelli Jo Ann Smith and Jonathan Houston, passed
away Sept. 27, 2010, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
Survivors include his parents; a brother, Caiden Hayes; maternal grandparents, Denise
Smith, Autry and Stella Higgins; an aunt Carlee Elkins; maternal great-grandparents, Jo
Ann and Richard Smith; paternal grandparents, Art Nevill, and Kim and Tom Houston;
aunts, Jessica and Renee Nevill; uncle, Shawn and Heather Houston; paternal
grandparents, Jack and Rhonda Stout; and many great-aunts, uncles and cousins. He was
preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Maezell and Leroy Scarbrough, Latina
Wyatt, Kelsey Mundell, and James Shuler.
Everyone is going to miss you. Mommy, Daddy, and Caiden love you.
Visitation will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St.,

Wanda R. Thomas
TERRE HAUTE — Wanda R. Thomas, 79, of Terre Haute, passed away Saturday, Oct. 2,
2010, in the Union Hospital. Born Jan. 15, 1931, in Mecca, she was the daughter of
Howard Cunningham and Leatha (Woods) Cunningham. She married Harry F. Thomas
and he preceded her.
Wanda was a school teacher, where she had worked for two years at Bridgeton and then
worked 30 years at Otter Creek. She was a member and a deaconess of the Eighth
Avenue Baptist Church, Hoosier Homemaker Club, Red Hat Society, AARP and Bunko.
She enjoyed helping children to read, sewing, crafts, traveling, and being with family and
friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandy Parr and husband Terry of Terre Haute; five
grandchildren, Crystal Thomas of Indianapolis, Danielle Sparks and Terra Parr, both of
Terre Haute, Shawn Thomas of Clinton, and Cameron Parr of Terre Haute; a great-
grandchild, Phoenix Sparks of Terre Haute; a special niece, Debbie Germinio and a
nephew, Mike Sieklucki, both of Syracuse, N.Y. She was preceded in death by her parents;
her husband; son, Danny Thomas; and a sister, Marie Sieklucki.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N.
Clinton St. Services are Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Dick Smith
officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Marjorie E. Payne Jeffries
----- — Marjorie E. Payne Jeffries 84, of Indianapolis, passed away Oct. 1, 2010. She was
born Oct. 16, 1925, to the late Cecil and Nancy Montgomery. She married Robert Payne
on Jan. 5, 1946, and he preceded her in death Aug. 5, 1982. She then was married to
William Jeffries on June 3, 1988, and he preceded her in death June 16, 2009.
Survivors include her daughter, Roberta (Jim) Spencer of Indianapolis; granddaughters,
Elizabeth (Ted) Holleb, and Stephanie Higgins; great-grandchildren, Stephen, Haley, and
Hope Higgins, and Jenna Holleb; half brother, Harold (Anna) Bedwell; stepbrother, Clyde
Bedwell; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her
daughter, Julie Payne.
Services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010. at Singleton Community Mortuary and
Memorial Center, 7602 Madison Ave., in Indianapolis, with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today,
at the mortuary. Burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Roselawn Memorial Park, in Terre

Irma I. Jones
Irma I. Jones, 87, of Terre Haute, passed away surrounded by her loved ones, at Union
Hospital on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010. She was born July 18, 1923, in Terre Haute, to
Dorothy (Klinger) Mount and Harry Mount. She married James R. Jones on Nov. 21, 1942,
and he preceded her on Sept. 10, 1998. They lived and raised their family in Terre Haute.
Irma graduated from Gerstmeyer High School, worked for AT&T and then General
Telephone until her retirement. She was an active member of the Communication Workers
of America and Telephone Pioneers. She was a member of Northside Community United
Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Jamie D. Hall and husband David Hall; two sons, James R.
Jones Jr., and Michael D. Jones and wife Carolyn Jones; seven grandchildren, Michelle
Earley and husband Michael Early, Brent Hall and wife Anjie Hall, Heather Jones, Kara
Howard and husband Joshua Howard, Jessica Jones, Michael Jones, and Matthew Jones
and wife Junco; great-grandchildren, Emily Dransfield, Lane Dransfield, Drew Dransfield,
Carter Hall, Brenna Hall, Bailee Hall, Noah Howard and Elijah Howard. She was preceded
in death by her parents; her husband; and brother, Lorin Dale Mount.

Marie Miller Weddle
Marie Miller Weddle passed peacefully from this world on Oct. 5, 2010, at her home in
Westminster Village, surrounded by family and friends. She was born on Sept. 16, 1911, to
Otto and Dora (Railsback) Miller. They preceded her in death as did her brother, Ira Leon
Miller. Marie graduated from Farmersburg High School with the Class of 1929. She was
valedictorian of her class. Following graduation, she was employed by John T. Sankey.
Because of her work ethic and dedication to her job, Mr. Sankey took her to the Vigo
County Courthouse, where she became a deputy auditor in 1932. She also was secretary
to the county commissioners while John T. Sankey was in office.
In 1934, she married Marvin Otis Weddle. He died in 1987. She was the proud mother of a
daughter, Nancy. After her marriage she continued to work until the 1970s as a deputy
auditor. She retired from that position in the early 1970s. In 1986, she and her husband
Marvin moved into Westminster Village Apartments, where she was very active in the
activities of the facility, taking many trips with them and serving as an ambassador for them.
Marie was a caring woman who loved her family and cherished taking care of her family.
She was always willing to help and was a dedicated member of Oregon Baptist Church.
She was a gifted seamstress and sewed for her family and friends. She worked in the yard
and was noted for her beautiful flowers. Her real talent was her great home cooking. She
will be fondly remembered by her family and friends for the homemade noodles, red velvet
cake and macaroni and cheese she so frequently made. She enjoyed playing cards and
regularly played cards with friends. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, and will long
be remembered for being able to see a piece that belonged in a particular spot in the
puzzle and telling friends where to place it, She enjoyed reading. Each year the family
looked forward to receiving her annual Christmas letter. She remembered everything and
was very intelligent. She had a passion for Indiana basketball, and often commented that
the year of the Boston Celtics and Larry Bird helped her through the loss of her husband
in 1987. Although a quiet person, she was loved by everyone who knew her, and her
kindness and generosity will be remembered by everyone who knew her.
Marie is survived by daughter, Nancy (Badaluco) of Terre Haute; grandson, James
Badaluco and his wife Danielle; great-grandchildren, Taylor Alexis, Sophia Teresa, James
Michael, and her namesake, Meredith Marie. She also is survived by numerous nieces and
nephews, included in them a special niece, Kay Weddle Price of St. Augustine, Fla., as
well as any other great-nieces and great-nephews. Her extended family of friends included
the many people who worked with her, as well as her neighbors at Westminster, and her
daughter Nancy’s friends and neighbors.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive.
Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. today. She will be entombed beside her husband in the mausoleum
in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Norma J. Draffone
Norma J. Draffone, 85, of Terre Haute, passed away Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at 3:30 a.m., in
Union Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born April 16, 1925, in Terre Haute, to
Ollie Burton Allenbaugh and Nellie Jane Brewer Allenbaugh. She was a retired
administrator for McDonald’s Corporation in Oakbrook, Ill. She was a graduate of Terre
Haute Commercial College, a member of Professional Secretary Association, National
Women’s Accounting Association, and a former member of the Terre Haute Country Club,
where she was a member of the women’s golf league. She was an avid golfer, achieving a
hole in one.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Draffone, who passed away June 4,
2006. She also was preceded by her daughter, Rebecca Holmes McCammon; and two
sisters, Arlene Allenbaugh Lower and Ruth Allenbaugh Greiner.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Terry W. McCammon II and his wife Carrie of Terre
Haute, Erik Draffone of Carol Stream, Ill., and Nellie Rose Stoner of Miami Beach, Fla.; one
stepdaughter, Donna Stoner and her husband Charlton of Miami Beach; one stepson,
Richard Draffone of Carol Stream; two great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Zachary
McCammon, both of Terre Haute; one brother-in-law, Carroll Greiner of Terre Haute; two
nephews, Robert Richmond and his wife Danielle of Dennison, Ill., and Gary Greiner of
Terre Haute; three nieces, Julie Walters and her husband Tom of Franklin, Sally Roetker
and her husband Jim of Terre Haute, and Lori Peters and her husband Gary, also of Terre
Haute; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th St. Visitation
will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., with burial in Roselawn Memorial Park. The Revs. Deron
Colgan and Monte Vincent will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Erik Draffone, Robert

Ruth S. Carter
BRAZIL — Ruth S. Carter died unexpectedly at her home in Brazil, on Tuesday, Oct. 5,
2010. She was born Sept. 1, 1919, in Dick Johnson Township, Ind., as the daughter of
John Henry Sampson Sr. and Frances Houk Sampson. Following graduation from high
school she graduated from Indiana State University. She married Ray A. Carter on Aug.
22, 1948, in Brazil. She taught grades 1 through 4 for 36 years, at the Pinkley, Ala., Perth,
Bee Ridge, and Meridian Street schools. Following retirement, Ruth enjoyed making candy
and sharing it with family and friends. She was a member of Fairview Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Jan. 11, 2005; brother, John
Henry Sampson; sister, Mary Skelton; and two nieces, Patricia Skelton and Julie
Stevenson.
Ruth and Ray were the loving parents of one daughter, Jean Ann Carter, who survives.
Ruth also is survived by one sister, Jennie King of Clarinda, Iowa; and brothers-in-law, Roy
Carter and Russell Stoms, both of Brazil. Ruth thought very highly of all her nieces and
nephews; Bob (Nancy) Sampson of Terre Haute, Larry (Sharon) Sampson, Ted (Linda)
Sampson, Sue (Chet) Stevenson, Jim (Tonya) Sampson, John Sampson, all of Brazil, Mary
C. Skelton and Lucy Skelton, both of Indianapolis, and Donald (Jane) King, and Shirley
King, all of Clarinda.

Frank Jarc
CLINTON — Frank Jarc, 94, of Clinton, died Oct. 5, 2010, at The Waters of Clinton. He
was born in Clinton, on Dec. 10, 1915, to Anton Jarc and Mary Lamprecnik Jarc. Frank
married Kathryn E. Little in 1941, and she preceded him in death in 1997. He worked in
the Civilian Conservation Corp. camp in 1933. He served in the U.S. Army for four years
during World War II, in the South Pacific, New Guinea, Luzon and other islands in the
Philippines. After his discharge in December of 1945, he worked as a butcher for Clinton
Packing Co., and then retired from the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 157.
He was one of the original members of Clinton Golf Association (Matthews Park Golf
Course). Frank and Kathryn managed the golf course for three years. He was also a
member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Lion’s Club.
Frank is survived by his sister, Jennie Garc; nephews and nieces, Donald Jarc (Maxine
Spendal), John Jarc (Lana), Steven Sagrillo, Mickey Sagrillo (Lynn), Jim Morgan (Kathy),
John Morgan (Nancy), Linda Henry (Jack), Jerry Brunette (Mary Ann), Jill Bushbeck
(Bryan), Phyllis Lavin, Lori Albrecht (Doug), and Wilma Sagrillo (Primo). He also was
preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Wilma Sagrillo, Ann Chrusciel, and Mary
Brunette; brothers, Tony and John Jarc; nephew and godson, Phillip Sagrillo (wife, Donna
survives); niece, Alverna Micnerski; and nephew-in-law, Jessie Lavin.
Graveside services will be Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, at 1 p.m., at Roselawn Memorial Park,
in Terre Haute, with the Rev. Ray Wilkins officiating. Roselawn Funeral Home, Terre

Michael E. Wright Sr.
TERRE HAUTE — Michael E. Wright Sr., 69, of Terre Haute, passed away Monday
afternoon, Oct. 4 2010, in his residence surrounded with his loving family and friends by
his side. Born April 10, 1941, in Parke County, he was the son of Harry E. Wright and Opal
L. (Allen) Wright Hicks. He married Betty L. Smith and she survives.
Michael was a sales/delivery driver for numerous companies prior to becoming a truck
driver for Darling International and then as Transfer Station Manager for Darling
International (Recycling). He was a member of the Humboldt Lodge 42 and past patron of
Order of Eastern Star 43. He enjoyed car racing, especially dirt track racing with his two
sons. Other hobbies included playing slot machines at casinos.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, Michael E. Wright Jr. and wife Mary
Dawn, and Paul B. Wright and wife Pamela Lynn, all of Terre Haute; a sister, Beverly J.
Fortune and companion Sonny Vaughn of Terre Haute; a half sister, Karen A. Funkhouser
and husband Raymond of Terre Haute; two half brothers, Henry D. Hicks, and Curtis L.
Hicks and wife Cherri, all of Terre Haute; three grandchildren, Mary Beth Deevers and
husband Michael and Michael Ray Wright and wife Crystal, all of Terre Haute, and Jacob
Paul Wright of Lafayette; four great-grandchildren, Morgan Marie Deevers, Malachi
Michael Deevers, and Matthew Lewis Deevers, and Kyleigh Rose Wright, all of Terre
Haute; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a
sister, Janet K. Higginbotham; and a brother, Larry Wright and his wife Janet.
Visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N.
Clinton St. Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Scott Johnson officiating. The
Masons will conduct Masonic services prior to the funeral at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in
Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southern Care
Hospice.

Lyda B. Kendall
Lyda B. Kendall, 85, passed away in her home with her family around her on Saturday,
Oct. 9, 2010. She was born in Terre Haute, on Aug. 31, 1925, to Dayton Hutton and
Mamie Shaw Hutton. In 1943, Lyda married Robert G. Kendall, who preceded her in death
in September 1982. She worked as a bookkeeper for Eastern Motor Express, Lovelace
Trucking, and Vigo Wade Abstract.
She is survived by a daughter, Sue Olgus (Henry) and son, Robert Kendall (Judy), both of
Terre Haute; grandchildren, Amy Meister (Brian), Debra Neice, and Teresa Wills (John), all
of Terre Haute, and Kristina Gehlhausen (Lance) of Wyoming; great-grandchildren,
Taylor, Payton, Sydney and Hunter Brown, Keegan and Colton Gehlhausen, Ashley,
Rachel, and Henry Paul Neice; great-great-grandchildren, Madison and Jacob Levi; and
everyone at Southern Care Hospice and Wanda West.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St.,
from noon until the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jeffrey Harpole officiating. Burial is

Joseph H. Kanizer
TERRE HAUTE — CLINTON — Joseph H. Kanizer, 89, of Rosedale, and formerly of
Clinton, died at 9:10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was
born July 21, 1921, in Clinton, to Frank A. Kanizer Sr. and Josephine Trunko-Kanizer. He
was a farmer and a mechanic with White Construction in Clinton.
He is a member of Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Heart Men’s Club, and Operating
Engineers Local 841 Terre Haute. He married Martha Marie King on July 3, 1948, and she
survives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Frank Kanizer Jr., Edward
Kanizer Sr., and William Kanizer; and a sister, Helen Kanizer (Maison) Mahrin. Survivors
include his wife, Martha of Rosedale; one son, Joseph Wayne Kanizer of Terre Haute; one
daughter, Mary Jeanette (Marvin) Milligan of Clinton; grandsons, Jonathan (Dawn) Kanizer
of Terre Haute, David (Sarah) Kanizer of Owasso, Okla., Joseph E. (Missy) Kanizer of
Montrose, Ill., and Eric Kanizer and Roger Milligan, both of Clinton; granddaughters, Mary
Beth (Jeff) Leister of Clinton, and Suzanne (Tad) Wesley of Terre Haute; great-grandsons,
Zachary Kanizer, Cole Kanizer, Tyler Kanizer and Hayden Kanizer; great-granddaughters,

A. Warren Hamilton
TERRE HAUTE — A. Warren Hamilton passed away on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, in Union

(Sommes) Hamilton, in Terre Haute.
Warren served during World War II in the U.S. Army, he worked for 30 years as a print
press operator at Thompson-Simon Printing, and retired from the maintenance
department at Indiana State University. He was a graduate of Gerstmeyer High School, a
member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, and a member of the Krietenstein
American Legion Post 104.
Warren is survived by three sons, Bob and Sandy Hamilton of Brownsburg, David and
Pamela Hamilton of Terre Haute, and Bruce and Liz Hamilton of Lizton; grandchildren,
Megan and Kelsey Hamilton and Erik and Amy Hamilton; one nephew, Larry and Jane
Gallagher of Crawfordsville, and their son Kevin and his wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Dorothy Mae Goodman Hamilton,
in May 2008.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at Callahan-DeBaun
Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave., with the Rev Paul Wagner officiating. Burial will be at
Roselawn Memorial Park with military honors provided by Krietenstein American Legion

Marjorie L. Daily
TERRE HAUTE — Marjorie L. Daily, 85, of Terre Haute, passed away Monday, Oct. 11,
2010, in her residence with her family and faithful companion, Coco, by her side. She was
born July 25, 1925, in Linton, to Henry Brault and Amy Edith Payne Brault.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Hoopengarner and her husband Max, and Deb
Williams and her husband Bob, all of Terre Haute; two brothers, Charles and Donald
Brault; two sisters, Mary Smith and Lucille Duke; three grandchildren, Sean Daily and his
wife Chrissy, Casey Hummel and her husband Clay, and Carley Hoopengarner; a great-
grandson, Max Hummel; three sisters-in-law, Mary Brault, Fern Dennis, and Janet Myers
and her husband Larry; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by
her parents; her husband of 49 years, H. Kenneth Daily; two brothers, Jean and Henry
Brault; a sister, Amy Brault; four sisters-in-law, Flossie and Helen Brault, Barbara Daily
and Lorraine Waltermire; and five brothers-in-law, Jesse Smith, Ernie Duke, Winston
Waltermire, Fred Dennis and Joe Daily.
Marjorie had been a press operator for Powers and Krausbeck cleaners, however her
family was always her first priority.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, in Callahan &
Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St., with the Rev. Kyle Andrews officiating. Burial will

Grover D. 'Mac' McCleary
TERRE HAUTE — Grover D. “Mac” McCleary, 88, of New Goshen, passed away at 4:47 p.
m. Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, at Union Hospital’s emergency room, in Terre Haute. He retired
from farming after many years, and also had been a carpenter with the Carpenters Union
Local 133, in Terre Haute, for 48 years. He was born May 6, 1922, in Marshall, Ill., to
Robert McCleary and Bertha Hamilton McCleary.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruth Strole McCleary, whom he married March 31,
1944, at Maple Avenue United Methodist Church, in Terre Haute; four children, Donna
McCleary of San Diego, Calif., Dennis McCleary and his wife Janet of Kingwood, Texas,
Kenny McCleary and his wife Jonnita of West Lafayette, and Kimberly McCleary-Beams
and her husband Don of Terre Haute; two sisters, Opal Steele and her husband Wes of
Interlochen, Mich., and Hylda Jean Claypool of Marshall, Ill.; a brother, Paul McCleary and
his wife Vivian of Poway, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Danielle Baty, Ryan McCleary, Ashley
Royce, Eric McCleary, Casey Neeb, Jessica Brady, Deidre McCleary, and Lauren
McCleary; five great-grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by a son, Norman Earl McCleary; five brothers, Orville, Jerry, Wayne,
George, and Robert McCleary; and two sisters, Mae Budgin, and Eloise Crumrin.
He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps and attained the rank of master
sergeant. Grover enjoyed working with youth and had been a 4-H leader for more than 50
years, he also had been a troop leader for the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He
was very involved in the Pork Producers Association for many years, and had raised
purebred Duroc pigs for more than 55 years, during which he competed in county and
state shows. He and his family have been involved in 4-H for 92 straight years, including
from his mother to his granddaughter who is currently a member. He was very proud of his
barbecue recipe which had been used at the annual 4-H barbecue as well as many other
large functions. He also was a member of Rose Hulman Alumni Parents Association.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. Third St., in
West Terre Haute, with the Rev. Abe Miller officiating. Burial will be at Bethesda Memorial
Park, with graveside military rites by the Vigo County Veterans Honorguard. Visitation will
be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and prior to services Thursday. The family suggests that if
friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana 4-H Foundation,

Joan S. Fuller
Joan S. Fuller, 74, of Terre Haute, died Monday evening, Oct. 11, 2010, in Cobblestone
Crossings Health Campus. She was born Sept. 20, 1936, in Terre Haute, to Gene
Seehuber and Bertha Hartman Seehuber.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Jack B. Fuller; her daughter and son-in-law,
Julie and Joe Williams of Noblesville; two grandchildren, Katelyn Schalburg and Cory
Schalburg; and a sister-in-law, LouAnn Singleton of Terre Haute. She was preceded in
death by her parents; and a sister, Ernestine Raines.
Joan was a graduate of Wiley High School, and had owned and operated her own beauty
shop. Most recently she had worked at Hallmark Gift Shop at The Meadows, and also at
Baesler’s Market. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, and enjoyed gardening,
walking and reading. Joan was a friend to many.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, in Callahan &

Ervin W. Smithhart
TERRE HAUTE — Ervin W. Smithhart, 89, of Terre Haute, went to be with the Lord on
Oct. 12, 2010, at his residence. He was born July 21, 1921, to Minnie and Joseph
Smithhart. He was a retired mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, having worked for 30
years.
Survivors include a son, Ralph Smithhart and his wife Sharon; two daughters, Sandy
Kupferer and her husband Rick and Karen Smithhart; seven grandchildren, Jeff Smithhart
and his wife Lori, Christy Wright and her husband Bob, Kim Jones and her husband
Gregg, Aaron Kupferer, Mike Kupferer and his wife Amy, Laura Taylor and her husband
Mike, and Amy McAdam and her husband Justin; nine great-grandchildren, Ashley Cook,
Alexis Smithhart, Tyler Smithhart, Allison Wright, Nathan Kupferer, Wes Kupferer, Mariah
Kupferer, Evan Smithhart, and Emma Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents;
his wife of 65 years, Betty; two sisters; and four brothers.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, having served in World War II, was a 56-
year member of National Association of Letters Carriers, enjoyed music, playing his
organ, electronics, and playing pool with friends and family.
Visitation is today, Oct. 15, 2010, from 12:30 until 2:30 p.m. in DeBaun Springhill Chapel,

Vera Jean Kirts
TERRE HAUTE — Vera Jean Kirts passed away Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, peacefully at
her residence in the Wyndmoor Retirement Complex at the age of 89. She was born Jan.
7, 1921, in Blo Norton, England, to Daniel George Pawsey and Rosa Sarah (Goddard)
Pawsey. Vera is the last of her family.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Oscar Chesterfield; her
second husband, Dale Kirts; and all of her immediate family. She is survived by a brother-
in-law, Thomas M. Shallenberger of California; a niece, Rosemary Perry of California; a
nephew, Brian Pawsey of England; a niece, Ruby Hubbard of England; good friends,
John, Jane and Dick Lubbehusen; her Wyndmoor staff family; and several other relatives
in England.
Vera retired from the First National Bank. She had been a member of the American
Business Association 4064, Kerman Cauldron 19, Women of the Moose 336, and the
American Legion Auxiliary 346.
Visitation will be Friday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton
St. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Bernie Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in

Alma Mae Jones
Alma Mae Jones, 88, of Anniston, Ala., formerly Terre Haute, went home to be with the
Lord on Oct. 6, 2010. She was born Sept. 29, 1922, in Terre Haute.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond Paul Jones; her son,
Arthur Leroy Jones, and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include Charles Riggs and Paul Jones who she loved like sons; one daughter,
Sheila D. Jones Sexton and her husband Richard of Anniston, Ala.; three grandchildren:
Angela L. Paul and her husband Johnny, April Knijpinga and her husband Ronnie, Amy
M. Zerrusen and her husband Tim. She had six great-grandchildren: Kylie and Jeffrey

Emily A. Cravis Johnson
TERRE HAUTE — Emily A. Cravis Johnson, 81, of Terre Haute, went to be with her Lord
and Savior on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at 5:43 p.m. in Union Hospital. Emily worked as a
Student Health Center nurse’s aide at Indiana State University from 1979 to 2006, where
she enjoyed her time meeting and helping the students. She was born Aug. 27, 1929, in
Terre Haute, to John Cravis and Lillian (Raikes) Cravis.
Survivors include a daughter, Raelane K. Hoff and her husband Dane of Terre Haute; a
son, Randy H. Johnson and his wife Linda Sue of Bluffton; six grandchildren, David
Johnson, Michael Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Emma Johnson, Aaron Hoff, and Lyndsay
Hoff; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her
parents; two brothers, William Cravis and Cecil Cravis; and three sisters, Jane Nichols,
Roberta McDaniel, and Mary Ruth Haverty
She was a charter member of Calvary Temple Church, where she was very active in
church activities and use to lead worship services. She enjoyed celebrating her natural
birthday as well as her spiritual birthday on April 9, 1967. She also enjoyed singing and
spending time with her dog, Charlie, and her cat, Ivory. She also has worked as a
waitress in the Terre Haute House in her youth.
Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, from 4 until 8 p.m. in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85
E. Springhill Drive. Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at 10 a.m. in the

TERRE HAUTE — Robert L. Bryant Sr., 84, of Terre Haute, passed away at 1:16 a.m.
Thursday morning, Oct. 14, 2010. He was born June 25, 1926, in Terre Haute, to Rex
and Helen Orth Bryant.
He is survived by one daughter, Rita Bryant Myles and husband David; two sons, Robert
Bryant Jr. and wife Mary Margaret, and Steve Bryant and wife Cathie; six grandchildren;
one stepgrandchild; two great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Marian Summerlot Bryant.

TERRE HAUTE — Catherine M. Reel, 98, of West Terre Haute, passed away at 1:13 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, in Meadows Manor North Convalescent Center. She was born in
Terre Haute, on May 12, 1912, to Henry Jobe and Jessie Meek Jobe.
She is survived by one son, Ray Reel and wife Sonya of West Terre Haute; one
daughter, Rita Edwardson of West Terre Haute; 12 grandchildren; and several great-
grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Glenn Reel; and one son, James Reel.

Bill Anthony
Bill Anthony, age 65, of Terre Haute, passed away October 17, 2010 in the VA Hospital in
Indianapolis. Born July 11, 1945 in Columbus, IN, he was the son of George S. Anthony
and Margyl (Denman) Anthony. Survivers include the love of his life Kelly Knoblett
Anthony. Bill served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired from Krogers
after 26 years as Store Manager. He then worked for Orkin Pest
Control as a route technician for 18 years and retired April 2009. He was a lifetime
member of the VFW Post 972. His hobbies include fishing, NASCAR, watching football,
and traveling with his wife.
Survivors in addition to his wife include 3 children, Renee Brownson and husband Brian,
Noblesville, Bob Anthony, MI, and Bill Anthony and wife Cathy, NJ; three step-sons,
Andrew Mathies, Adam Mathies and Logan Mathies, all of Terre Haute, 7 grandchildren,
Brittnee Brashier, Terre Haute, Kaitlin Brashier, Nobleville, Chandler Brownson, IL, Noah
Anthony, MI, Mia Anthony, MI, Nathan Anthony, NJ, and Abigail Anthony, NJ; and one

Donald A. Jones
TERRE HAUTE — Donald A. Jones, 60, of Terre Haute, died Oct. 20, 2010. He was born
on Feb. 14, 1950, and was the cherished son of Robert M. Jones and Jane Knox Jones.
He was preceded in death by his father; and his sister, Mary Katherine Bauer.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 29 years, Nancy; and his four children,
Matthew (Rebecca) of Indianapolis, Luke of Chicago, Aubrey of Tampa, Fla., and Eleanor
of Terre Haute. He also is survived by his two sisters-in-law, Betsy Waters of Terre Haute
and Debra (Bill) Kirby of Huber Heights, Ohio; his nieces and nephews, Nicole (Brian)
McBride, Elizabeth Bauer, Larry (Jill) Waters, Lori Waters, Libby Waters, John (Shannon)
Kirby, and Dèsiré (Bob) Burkle; and many grandnieces and nephews.
Don was a proud alumnus of Garfield High School, and Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology. He also served in the Air National Guard for six years. In May 1973, he
founded Numerical Concepts Inc., and prided himself as a businessman and family man
of honesty, loyalty and great generosity. He was a man of strong, upstanding moral
convictions and believed a person’s word was their bond. His motto in life as in business
was to be “frank, firm, friendly and fair.” A man of great passions and dedication, Don was
proud foremost of the family he loved above all others and the positive impact of jobs and
commerce his business brought to Terre Haute, the community he loved and supported
as a patriotic and involved citizen and proud American.
Family visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at Roselawn Memorial
Chapel, 7500 N. Clinton St. The funeral series will then take place on Friday Oct. 29,
2010, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Memorial Chapel with Brian McBride officiating. Burial will

Shirley Ann Webster Stone
TERRE HAUTE — Shirley Ann Webster Stone, 70, of Rockville, formally of Terre Haute,
went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010.
Shirley was born to Ernest and Rachel Webster on Jan. 16, 1940, in Fontanet.
Shirley graduated from Otter Creek High School in 1958. She married her high school
sweetheart, David Stone. Shirley worked as the cook and activity director at Webster
Nursing Home for many years. She also served in full-time ministry with her husband,
David, until his death in 1991. They ministered together in Farmersburg and Rockville.
They served the Lord together with the Shakamak Bible Camp for young people. Shirley
enjoyed being able to help others and always put their needs before her own. Her most
memorable time was spent with her children and her five “perfect” grandchildren. They
were the light of her life. Shirley was a member of Berean Baptist Church.
Shirley is survived by her son Dale Stone and wife Rhonda of Rockville and their children
Collin, Kelsey and Nathan; her daughter, Kathy McCowen of Rockville and her daughters
Amber and Kayla McCowen. She is also survived by many special cousins and extended
family.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, David.

Dorothy J. Robbins
TERRE HAUTE — Dorothy J. Robbins, 86, of Terre Haute, passed away Oct. 23, 2010, in
Union Hospital. She was born Oct. 10, 1924, in Burnett, to Worley Darnell and Myrtle King
Darnell. She was retired from St. Louis Children’s Hospital as an ambulatory supervisor.
She was a member of the Terre Haute First Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed writing
song lyrics and poems. She also enjoyed working puzzles, reading and making noodles
for her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, William Robbins, who
passed away in 1971. She also was preceded in death by a grandson, James Swanson;
two sons-in-law, Gary Shaffer and Paul Daley; a sister, Esther Fulford; a brother, Russell
Darnell, and a half brother, Jim Darnell. She is survived by one son, Robert Robbins and
his wife Debbie of Terre Haute; two daughters, Kay Shaffer-Daley of Terre Haute, and
Karen Swanson and her husband Daryl of Brazil. She also is survived by eight
grandchildren, Michael Shaffer and his wife Kim, Teri Shaffer Price, Scott Hines,
Christopher Swanson and his wife Kim, Scott Swanson and his wife Micki, Jeff Swanson,
Courtney Robbins, and Lindsay Sanders and her husband Reggie; 17 great-
grandchildren; a special niece, Phyllis Fulford of Terre Haute; and other nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street,
in Terre Haute. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Tuesday with the Rev.

Jeffrey Scott Woelfle
TERRE HAUTE — Jeffrey Scott Woelfle, 53, of Terre Haute, passed away Saturday, Oct.
23, 2010. He was born to Martha Jane Woelfle and Frank X. Woelfle Jr., on Oct. 28,
1956. Jeffrey was a Poster Child for Wabash Valley Cerebral Palsy when he was five
years old. He was a special needs person who helped many people. For the past four
years, he received outstanding care from the tremendous staff at Meadows Manor North.
He was preceded in death by his father, on March 30, 1995.
Jeffrey is survived by his loving and caring mother, and two brothers and their wives,
John P. Woelfle (Sharon) of Terre Haute, and Joel C. Woelfle (Amy) of Fishers. He also
is survived by his nephews, Todd Woelfle (Amanda), Scott Woelfle (Brandi), Bryan
Woelfle, and Brent Woelfe (Tracy); one niece, Anne Woelfle; great-niece, Olivia; great-
nephews, Gavin, Jett, Trenton, and Tyler; and a cousin, Randy Andrew of Hesperia, Calif.

Beulah D. ‘Boots’ Archer
Beulah D. “Boots” Archer, 90, of Terre Haute, died Oct. 26, 2010, at her residence in Ft.
Wayne. She was born on Dec. 28, 1919, in Oaktown, to James Alvin and Della
(McGaughey) Phillips.
Beulah is survived by her two daughters, Jan Archer Mason of Powell, Ohio and Karen
(Jim) Lubbehusen of Ft. Wayne; five grandchildren, Steve (Chanda) Lubbehusen, Mike
(Connie) Lubbehusen, and Kim (Curt) Sunderlin, all of Ft. Wayne, and Alex Mason and
Daniel Mason of Powell; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
husband of 57 years, Charles Edward Archer, who died Nov. 21, 1998; her parents; and
five siblings.
She was a member of Breden Memorial United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and
Daughters of the Nile.
Services will be Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Home, 2425
Wabash Ave., at 1 p.m. with Pastor David Deal officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.
until 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. The family
suggests that for those who desire memorial contributions may be made to the National
