John N. Copra
John N. Copra, 93, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday morning, Oct. 28, 2010, at
Union Hospital. Born Feb. 12, 1917, in Terre Haute, the son of John I. Copra and
Rebecca (Prescon) Copra. He married Elnora Schlup, who survives.
John was a Gerstmeyer High School graduate, where he won the National Honor Society
Award and the Sportsman Award. He served in the U.S. Army with the 733 Railway
Operators Bn Hg Company 3rd during World War II in Europe. He received the EAME
Theater Ribbon with four bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal World War II
and Rifle Expert. He worked for over 40 years as a checker at Quakermaid.
He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972 and the
Kriestenstein American Legion Post 104. He was a 30-plus-year member of the German
Oberlandler Club. He was a member of the St. Marks United Church of Christ, where he
served two terms as trustee and was also an usher. He was a 55-year member of the Boy
Scouts of America, where he served as Cubmaster, Scoutmaster and District Chairman of
Troop 23. He also won coveted Boy Scouts’ Scouter’s Key, Silver Beaver and Order of
the Arrow Vigil Honor awards. In his spare time, he loved to dance.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, Jay A. Copra of Terre Haute; a brother, Si
Copra and his wife Mildred of Terre Haute; a sister, Annie Bradner and husband Norm of
Canada; a sister-in-law, Betty Lawry of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Nick Copra and his wife Mildred; and
a sister, Eleanora Copra.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton
St. There will be a Silver Beaver service at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Funeral
services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Theresa Higus officiating.
Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park with Terre Haute VFW Post 972 performing
military rites at the funeral home.


Dorothy Pauline Palmer
Dorothy Pauline Palmer passed away on Oct. 30, 2010. She was born on March 25,
1914, in Vigo County, to John Bailey Handy and Elizabeth Mollie Beckel Handy. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Emmit Palmer on Jan. 21, 1997; and two
great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Fennell and Jenifer L. Hollingsworth.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty A. Fennell and husband Frank of East Glenn; one
son, E. Edward Palmer of Terre Haute; seven grandchildren, Patsy Hollingsworth and
husband Christopher, Allen Fennell, Nancy Hofmann and husband Rob, Linda Mills,
Charlie Palmer, Franklin Fennell and wife Kristen, and Cheryl Akers and husband
Frankie; 16 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Dorothy graduated from Fontanet High School in 1931. She worked at St. Anthony
Hospital for 10 1/2 years and had many friends from St. Anthony Hospital and Anthony
Square. Dorothy had lived the last year of her life in Springhill Village.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, in Callahan &
Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Brother Mark Grayless officiating.
Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 1,

Betty Jane Johnson
TERRE HAUTE — Betty Jane Johnson, 82, formerly of Terre Haute, died Sunday, Oct.
31, 2010, at St. Mary Healthcare in Lafayette. She was born Sept. 17, 1928, in Terre
Haute, to James E. Brooks and Mae Childs Brooks. Betty was a secretary at CFI for more
than 20 years. In August 1949 she married Alfred “Knute” Johnson, in Terre Haute, and
he preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Bruce Johnson and his wife Kathy of Lafayette; a
granddaughter, Beth Miotke and her husband Rich of Lafayette; a grandson, Rob
Johnson of Indianapolis; and a great-granddaughter, Madison Johnson of Indianapolis.
Betty was a very active member of First Baptist Church, and belonged to Tri Kappa and P.
E.O. Her interests included gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, and fishing.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, in Callahan &
Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St., with the Rev. Bernie Jackson officiating.
Entombment will be in Roselawn Chapel of Memories. Visitation is scheduled prior to
services, from 10 a.m. until noon on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions

Stanley J. Minger
TERRE HAUTE — Stanley J. Minger, 58, of Terre Haute, died Friday morning, Oct. 29,
2010, in Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. He was operations manager
for Dever Distributing for 32 years. He was born Jan. 21, 1952, in Alameda, Calif., to
James O. Minger and Anita Elliott Minger.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn “Kathy” Arnett Minger; his daughter, Brooke Ann
Minger and her fiancé Jeffrey S. Taylor of Carmel, Ind.; his son, Mark J. Minger of Terre
Haute; three grandchildren, Regann Michelle Bell, Branden Bilek and Marissa Lacher;
and his sister, Jennie Grow and her husband Eric of Antelope, Calif. Also surviving are
many special cousins and relatives especially, Jimmy Minger; his mother-in-law, Jan
Coffman and her husband Kyle of Terre Haute; father-in-law, Joe Arnett and his wife
Peggy of New Palestine, Ind.; a brother-in-law, Ryan Arnett of Austin, Texas; two sisters-
in-law, Carol Robinson and her husband Mike of Plainfield, Ind., and Brandy Jewell and
her husband Chad of New Palestine; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded
in death by his parents.
He was a 1970 graduate of Wiley High School and had attended Indiana State University.
He served on the board of directors of Terre Haute Family Y and was a Mason. Stan
loved life and loved to laugh. He loved his Dever Distributing family, exercising at the “Y,”
football, playing pickle ball, his two dogs, Iceman and Annabell, and taking trips to Florida
with family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, in Callahan &
Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St., with the Rev. Bernie Jackson officiating. Burial will
be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. and

Joan R. Brown McDowell
TERRE HAUTE — Joan R. Brown McDowell, 79, of Terre Haute, passed away Saturday
evening, Oct. 30, 2010, in her residence, after a sudden onset of acute myeloid
leukemia. She was born in Terre Haute, on June 4, 1931, to William Brown and Lena
Rodgers Brown.
She is survived by two sons, John D. McDowell of Pensacola, Fla., and Steven R.
McDowell (wife Carol Ann) of Terre Haute; and one daughter, Joyce McDowell Stover of
Liberty, S.C. Also surviving is one brother, Robert K. Brown; and one sister, Jean Tennis;
12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. McDowell, on May 29, 2000; and also one
daughter, Jeanne McDowell Koehn, on Jan. 5, 1991. Also preceding her in death were
two brothers, William F. Brown and Thomas B. Brown; and one sister, Louise Tryon.
She retired as secretary/bookkeeper from the Vigo County School Corp., and previously
had worked at Reuben H. Donnelly, Quaker Maid, and American Can Company, and
attended the ISU School of Nursing. She was an active member of the First Financial
Bank Gold Club, member of the Wabash Valley Senior Center, was an avid bridge player
and loved to travel and cruise.
Funeral services will be at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, on
Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. The
family suggests memorial contributions be made to Vista Care Hospice, in her memory.

Frank Ortiz Cercos
Frank Ortiz Cercos, born in Holden, W.Va., of Spanish immigrant parents, raised in San
Francisco, passed away on Oct. 27, 2010, surrounded in love by his wife, Pat and his
four outstanding children.
Frank attended Commerce High School in San Francisco, and graduated in 1941. He
entered the U.S. Army in 1943, where he served with the 717th Tank Battalion in Europe
during World War II. There he participated in campaigns in the Rhineland and Central
Europe. He returned to San Francisco after the war and became a member of the San
Francisco Fire Department in 1947, retiring as a captain after 30 years of service. Frank
received numerous awards for outstanding service and heroism over his years with the
fire department. He was selected as San Francisco Fireman of the Year in 1968. He was
an admiring and enthusiastic father to his four children, he refereed CYO basketball
expanding that ability, as a member of No CA Basketball Officials Association, to the Pac
8 and NCAA Regionals. Frank was a proud member of Tom Brokaw’s “Greatest
Generation” living his life, after returning from World War II, with the common values of
duty, honor, economy, courage, service, love of family and country and above all,
responsibility for oneself. He will be missed greatly by all those whose lives he has
touched.
He was preceded in death by his father, Augustine Ortiz; his mother, Maria Abascal
Cercos, and his stepfather, Francisco Cercos.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia DeCoursey Cercos, formerly of Clay County, and his
children, Frank (Anna) Cercos, John (Michele Zipse) Cercos, Mary Elizabeth-Libby
(Dean) Duryea, and Ted (Jane) Cercos, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass with family and friends was conducted in San Francisco earlier this week.
Visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at Moore Funeral Home, in Brazil.

James L. Stevens
James L. Stevens, 83, of Terre Haute, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at home surrounded
by his family and friends. His sense of humor and kind, gentle nature was present until
the end saying he would see us in Heaven. He was born June 10, 1927, in Terre Haute,
to Venture and Ruth (Cullen) Stevens.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Jenkins) Stevens in 2002, after 53 years,
four months, and four days of marriage; his parents; brother, Mick Stevens and his wife
Carol. He is survived by his daughter, Janet Foster and Jerry Nolte; and three sons, Dr.
Randy L. Stevens and his wife Debbie, Rick L. Stevens and Claire Thorsen, and Scott L.
Stevens and April Grayless; seven grandchildren, Jagger, Nicole and her husband Thom,
Ann Marie and her fiancé Bryan Hart, Chad, Amanda and her husband Donte Britt, and
Noah, Sophie; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Layrissa; his special friend,
Jeani Kelley; and his lifelong friend, Bob Burnett.
He retired from Cadillac Products in Paris, Ill., at age 70, and the farmers were happy
because they no longer had to follow his slow moving vehicle. He had worked at Ethyl
Visqueen and Polymar Plastics in Terre Haute. He graduated from Wiley High School in
1945 and served in the Merchant Marines and U.S. Army having gone to Europe and as
part of the occupying forces in Japan. He served under General Douglas MacArthur in
Japan with the 1st Cavalry until 1947. He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 972 and the American Legion Post 104. He attended Indiana State
University with Coach John Wooden as his academic advisor. He claims to have caught
Roberto Clemente’s last home run ball in 1972-though never proven. He was one of the
original coaches for North Little League Baseball in the 1960s. Through the years, many
ex-players and friends thanked him for the time they spent with him.
Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park with graveside services on Friday, Nov. 5, 2010,
at 11 a.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend. A celebration of his life will be at a
later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial contributions

LaVonne M. Edwards Wallace
LaVonne M. Edwards Wallace, 64, of Terre Haute, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 3,
2010, in her home. She had been employed at The Learning Center in West Terre Haute.
She was born Sept. 13, 1946, in Terre Haute, to Harold R. Flinn and Maxine V. Eller Flinn.
Survivors include three daughters, Angela K. Blackburn Mason and her husband Tony E.
Mason, Carrie A. Edwards, and Nicole D. Adams and her husband Corey, all of Terre
Haute; one son, Lt. Col. James M. Blackburn and his wife Shawn of Yuma, Ariz.; two
grandchildren, Delaney M. “Lane” Blackburn, and Corey L. “CJ” Adams Jr., both of Terre
Haute; one sister, Sandra K. Morgan of West Terre Haute; and two nephews. She was
proceeded in death by her parents.

Wilma A. Manley
Wilma A. Manley, 93, of Rosedale died at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, in Vermillion
Convalescent Center at Clinton. She was a retired sales clerk with Montgomery Ward.
She was born July 22, 1917, in Vigo County, Ind., to Jum King and Grace Holdaway King.
Her husband of 58 years, Raymond Manley, whom she married on April 12, 1935,
preceded her in death in 1993.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Manley and his wife Pat of Rosedale, Ronald Manley
and his wife Pat of Parrish, Fla.; one brother, Mike King of Rosenberg, Texas; several
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Pete King, and a sister, Norma King.
In keeping with her wishes, there is no visitation. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today,
Nov. 6, 2010, at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Terre Haute with the Rev. Myron

Ron Thorlton
TERRE HAUTE — Ron Thorlton, 82, of Terre Haute, passed away at 6:07 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at Union Hospital. He was born in Jasonville, on Oct. 20,1928,
to Clarence and Esther Thorlton.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Thelma Thorlton; two sons, Kirk Thorlton and wife
Brenda of Auburn, Ky., and Todd Thorlton and wife Suzie of Terre Haute; a brother, Jerry
Thorlton and wife Pat of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Kiel, Tori, Amber, and Nick; and
several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and
Esther; and a brother, Wayne Thorlton and wife Margaret.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of The Korean War, a member of Ancient Accepted Scottish
Rites Valley of Terre Haute, 50-year member of Masonic Lodge, Humboldt Lodge 86,
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972. He retired from Alcan in 1987 after 29 years of
service. He continued as a consultant for another 10 years in the United States and over
seas for D.A. Stuart. He was active in coaching Vigo County Youth Football Program, and
Terre Haute Boys Club. He loved to fish, play golf, he especially loved building houses,
and the Indianapolis Colts.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, 4660 N. Lafayette Ave.,
with Father Villa officiating. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Delores Mae (Simpson) Linder
TERRE HAUTE — Delores Mae (Simpson) Linder, age 77, of Terre Haute, was called
home Thursday afternoon Nov. 4, 2010, at her residence with her loving family by her
side. Born Feb. 16, 1933 in Jeffersonville, Ind., she was the daughter of Clarence E.
Simpson and Nora B. McCubbins Simpson. She married Herbert Hoover Linder in 1953,
who preceded her in death. Delores was a devoted wife, loving mother, and wonderful
homemaker. She attended Gospel Tabernacle in Terre Haute and was a strong supporter
of Compassionate Friends. She enjoyed praying to our Heavenly Father, spending time
with family and friends, and singing to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We
mourn the loss of her presence, honor the life she lead, and celebrate the legacy she
leaves.
Delores is survived by her children: Brenda Linder of Terre Haute, Michael Linder and
wife, Lisa, of Terre Haute, Ronald Linder of Tampa, Fla., Garry Linder and wife, Lisa, of
Indianapolis; grandchildren: Kirsten Althoff and husband Jason of Terre Haute, Clarissa
Brinkley and husband James of Rome, Ga., Chelsea Linder of Terre Haute, Autumn Hunt
and husband Daniel of Ledbetter, Ky., Aaron Linder of Tampa, Fla., Khaim Helms of
Terre Haute, Harmony Linder of Terre Haute, Caley Linder of Terre Haute, Allison, Luke
and Austin Linder all of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren: Jalen, Kaden and Rayen Althoff

Delores is also survived by her siblings: Mollie Cochran of New Albany, Ind., Doris
Chipman and husband Ralph of Mass., and Alice Robinson and husband Ray of Mass.;
three sisters-in-law: Betty Simpson of Jeffersonville, Dottie Simpson of Mass., Donna
Simpson of Mass.; and one brother-in-law, Clifford Cochran of Ind.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; a son, David Linder; a
granddaughter, Lacey Linder; a sister, Dorothy Tetrick Cochran; and three brothers,
Clarence Simpson of Jeffersonville, Robert Simpson of Mass., and James Simpson of
Mass.
Services are noon Monday at Roselawn Funeral Home with Brother Melvin Wilkinson
officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and 10 a.m. to noon Monday at

Barbara Eileen Elmore
TERRE HAUTE — Barbara Eileen Elmore of Terre Haute, passed away on Saturday, Nov.
6, 2010, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born on July 9, 1934, in
Bloomingdale, to John and Clara Beatrice (McGill) Tucker. Barbara was a truck driver for
over 30 years and retired in 2000.
Barbara is survived by her children, Sharron Johnson and Kim Tucker, both of Terre
Haute, Ronnie Elmore of Pennsylvania, and John Elmore of Ohio; brothers, Tom
Detweiler and Paul Detweiler, both of Michigan, and John Detweiler of California; and
sisters, Fauneal Harvey of Terre Haute and Cindy of New Hampshire.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Donald Tucker.
Private services for family and close friends will be at Roselawn Funeral Home. Burial will
take place at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Carl E. Seybold
TERRE HAUTE — ROCKVILLE — Carl E. Seybold, 77, of Rockville, died at 8 a.m. on
Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, in his residence. He was a retired purchasing agent and accountant
for Bemis Bag, Midland Glass, and CF Industries, all in Terre Haute. He was born June
13, 1933, in Catlin, to the late Luther V. Seybold and Ruth Amanda Thompson Seybold.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Cynthia S. Harney Seybold, whom he married April
29, 1956, in Rockville; one son, Mark A. (Judy) Seybold of Cary, Ill.; two daughters, Debra
K. (Brad) Scott of Lexington, Ky., and Diane L. (Frank) Leek of Plainfield; seven
grandchildren, Benjamin Scott, Heather Scott, Zachary Leek, Elizabeth Seybold, Emily
Seybold, Matthew Seybold, and Jacob Leek.
He was a 1951 graduate of Rockville High School and attended Indiana State University.
He served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Rockville Christian Church and the
Friendship Sunday School Class. He was a member of Montezuma Masonic Lodge 89
and Order of Eastern Star Montezuma Chapter 537, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute,
Zorah Shrine of Terre Haute, Parke County Low 12 Club, Rockville Little League Board,
served several years on the Rockville Community School Board, and was an avid euchre
player, fisherman and golfer.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, in Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard
St., in Rockville, with the Rev. Patrick J. Fahey officiating. Entombment will follow in the
Serenity wing of the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Roselawn Memorial Park

Joyce Kirby Hux
TERRE HAUTE — Joyce Kirby Hux, of Terre Haute, died Friday morning, Nov. 5, 2010, in
Union Hospital. She was born in Marengo, Ohio, to Gerald Kirby and H. Annabelle
Williams Kirby. Her husband, Vernon E. Hux, preceded her in death in 1999.
Survivors include her four children, Gayle Findley of Terre Haute, Carrie Findley of
Paragon, Ind., Keith Findley and his wife Julie of Hindsboro, Ill., and Nicole Findley Hunt
and her husband Travis of Terre Haute; two stepdaughters, Cindy Martin and her
husband Jim of Terre Haute, and Kathy Perry and her husband Russ of Palm Beach
Gardens, Fla.; a brother, Ronald Kirby and his wife Cathy of Ohio; a sister, Mary Ellen
Wolfe and her husband Richard of Ohio; brother-in-law, Robert Hux and his wife Mary
Anne of West Terre Haute; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Hartley of Aiken, S.C. Also
surviving are six grandchildren, J. Weber, Douglas Findley, Zachary McCarty, Kaitlyn
Weber, Grace Findley, and Tavin Hunt; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She
also was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Judith Ready.
Joyce was a member of the Swope Alliance, T.O.B.I.E.S. and P.E.O. Chapter K. She was
a diehard and avid Republican.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, in Callahan &
Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with the Reverend Scott Johnson
officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday

James L. Bird
TERRE HAUTE — James L. Bird went to be with the Lord at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 7,
2010, at Cannon Inn. He was born in Terre Haute on Jan. 23, 1925, to James Lee Bird
and Edith (Pierson) Bird.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Laura Gates, Margaret Harris,

Surviving is his present wife, Ola (Sanderson) Bird; stepson, Terry Weir and wife Diane;
stepdaughter, Paula Bland and husband Don; grandchildren, Pam Pickens and husband
Jeff, Kim Weir, Tommy Weir and wife Basma; great-grandchildren, Jed Glover, Olivia
Glover, Lillian Pickens, Emily Wier, Terry Thomas Weir and Diana Mae Weir.
James served his country in the U.S. Navy for 10 years during World War II, and also the
Korean War. He was a member of First Baptist Church of North Terre Haute, where he
served as assistant treasurer, and he and his friend, Jack Wilson, donated many hours in
church maintenance.
He was employed at the Pillsbury plant for 28 years until the plant closed. He lived all 85
years in Terre Haute. He loved sports, participating in his younger years in such things as
bowling, fishing, hunting, and was an avid fan of baseball.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions may be made to
VistaCare Hospice, 3401 S. 4th St, Terre Haute, IN 47802; or to the Gideons. Envelopes
will be available at the funeral home.
Visitation will be Thursday from noon until 2 p.m., at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N.
Clinton St., with funeral services at 2 p.m. Pastor Mark Tobey will officiate. Burial will follow
in Roselawn Memorial Park. The Terre Haute Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972 will

Frank A. Kleptz
TERRE HAUTE — Frank A. Kleptz, 89, of Terre Haute, passed away Friday, Nov. 5, 2010,
in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. Mr. Kleptz was born May 13, 1921, in Terre Haute to
Andrew Kleptz and Barbara Heber Kleptz. He was the founder and owner of Kleptz
Aluminum and Vinyl Products, he also was one of the former co-owners of the Ponderosa
Steak Houses in Terre Haute. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church
and a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He also was a World War II
veteran serving in the U.S. Army Airborne. He was a world renowned car historian and
collector. He was a legend in the Great American Race competing 10 years and was
awarded the “Spirit of the Event.” He won his competition category in the Great American
Race, two years. Frank also was a two-year winner of the best restored antique car in the
country. He was a member of numerous car clubs across the country.
He is survived by his wife, Robertine “Roby” Cook Kleptz, whom he married May 30, 1946;
his son, David Kleptz and Kristine of Terre Haute; one granddaughter, Melissa Manning
and her husband Parker of Terre Haute; two grandsons, Ryan Kleptz of Terre Haute and
Jarred Kleptz of South Bend; and six great-grandchildren, Madison Manning, Morgan
Manning, Marin Manning, Mabrey Manning, Alexis, and Shelby Kleptz, all of Terre Haute.
He also is survived by one sister, Marge Gallian and her husband Robert of California;
three brothers, Joe Kleptz and his wife Jo Ann of Terre Haute, Charles Kleptz and his wife
Arlene of Union, Ohio, and James Kleptz and his wife Judy of Vermont; and several nieces
and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janice Kleptz Thompson in
1984; and a sister, Mary Ann Wheatley.
Services will be Wednesday, Nov. 10 2010, at 11 a.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005
North 13th Street, in Terre Haute, with the Rev. Rick Wetnight officiating. Visitation will be
from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. If
friends so desire, contributions may be made to Fourteenth and Chestnut Community
Center or the charity of their choice.

Doris E. Adkerson
Doris E. Adkerson, age 83, of Brazil, passed away early Tuesday morning, Nov. 9, 2010,
in the Exceptional Living Center in Brazil. Born May 11, 1927, in Terre Haute, she was the
daughter of John D. Tiley and Nelly P. (Zeigler) Tiley. She married Harry Adkerson, and
he preceded her in death. Doris was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Connie Cook and husband Dean of Brazil; a son, John F.
Adkerson of Freemont, Neb.; a grandson, John Scott Adkerson and wife Sherri of
Cloverdale; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her
parents and five brothers.
Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Roselawn Memorial Park. There are no services

TERRE HAUTE — Margery A. Roberts, of Terre Haute, died Nov. 10, 2010, at Union
Hospital. She was born April 12, 1927, to Alvin Kester Enders and Mary Lucile Thornberry
Enders. Marge was formerly employed by the Vigo County School Corporation and the
Department of Agriculture. She was working for both Thomas Funeral Home and
Roselawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park. She attended Maryland Community Church
and First Baptist Church.
Marge is survived by her daughter, Amy Jo Freeze and husband Bob of Paris, Ill.; a son,
Timothy Eugene Roberts and wife Karen of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Fred E., Travis
Wayne, and Wayne Timothy Roberts, and Sarah Freeze; stepgrandchildren, Zakary
Freeze and wife Edith, and Jessica Medved and husband Jeremy; and family-like friends,
Maryellen and John Christeson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne E. Roberts, who died in
1990; and brother, Robert Enders, who died in 1941.

TERRE HAUTE — Raymond A. Chezem, 78, of Riley died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at 10:
14 a.m. in Union Hospital. He worked for 38 years and 8 months in government with the
FAA. Ray was born Aug. 23, 1932, Ashboro, Ind. to Raymond Lester Chezem and
Margaret (Zapf) Chezem.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Elaine (Smith) Chezem; two sons: Kevin Chezem and wife
Kathleen of Bargersville, Ind. and David Chezem of Bloomington, Ill.; two daughters: Rita
Kay Steff and husband Tony of Ocklawaha, Fla. and Mary Jo Corson and husband Randy
of Plainfield, Ind.; two brothers: Thomas Chezem and wife Mary Ann of Pendleton, Ind.
and Roger Chezem and wife Phyllis of Anderson, Ind.; a sister: JoAnn Chezem of
Anderson; nine grandchildren: Sean Davis and his wife Carie, James Davis and wife
Jessica, Keith Chezem and wife Jennifer, Joseph Chezem, Ross Corson, Emily Hardwick
and husband Ben, Jeremy Toney and wife Reanna, Shelley Bradshaw and husband
Kevin, and Nick Steff; 11 great-grandchildren: Madyson, Maycie, Gavin, Gabryella, Jayd,

Ray was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his great-grandson, Anthony
Davis.
He also was a one-time holder of the quarter 1/4 mile speed record at the Putnamville
Raceway. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, a member of St. Benedict
Catholic Church, member of Knights of Columbus Council 541 where he was past Grand
Knight and Financial Secretary, past faithful navigator, and the comptroller of the 4th
Degree, a member of Sycamore Country Club and worked for years in the Soup Kitchen
at St. Benedict’s.
Visitation will be from 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, in St. Benedict Church. Mass
of Christian Burial will be at 12:05 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, in the church with Father

TERRE HAUTE — Lucille A. “Sis” Smith passed away on Nov. 11, 2010, at Meadows
Manor North in Terre Haute. She was born Aug. 26, 1926, in Terre Haute to James Henry
Smith and Mable Agnes (Shepherd) Smith. She graduated in 1945 from Otter Creek High
School. Lucille worked for 20 years at Mineweld as a bookkeeper and retired in 1990. She
was a member of North Terre Haute Christian Church, assisted several animal welfare
leagues, and volunteered at Union Hospital for seven years.
Lucille is survived by her sister Virginia R. Smith of Terre Haute; brothers James H. Smith
and wife Virginia and Robert G. Smith and wife Emma all of Terre Haute; a sister-in-law,
Rosemary Johnson and husband James of Dallas; 13 nieces and nephews, numerous
great and great-great-nieces and nephews, and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Russell Smith; two nieces, and one
great-nephew.

Michael Royse
TERRE HAUTE — Michael “Mike” Royse passed away on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at
Union Hospital. He was born Aug. 5, 1943, in Terre Haute, to Frank and Evelyn (Faulds)
Royse. He married Donna Benefield on Nov. 5, 1966. Mike proudly served in the U.S.
Navy for six years on active duty as a 2nd class radioman and served in the Naval
Reserves in Terre Haute until 1984. During his service he was stationed in Reykjavik,
Iceland; Naples, Italy; and Midway Island. After the Navy, he worked at Public Service
Indiana for 30 years, retiring in 1999.
Mike is survived by his wife of 44 years, Donna; and their three children, Eric Royse of
Indianapolis, Michelle (John Shultis) Royse of Herndon, Va. and Stefanie (Jay) Knott.
Other survivors include a brother, Randy (Jane) Royse of Minneapolis; grandchildren,
Devan Knott, Ethan Knott, Kamryn Knott, and Olivia Shultis; nephew, Brian Royse; and
great-nephew, Jacob Royse; and numerous cousins. Mike was preceded in death by his
parents.

Robert L. Templeton
TERRE HAUTE — Robert L. Templeton, 90, of Terre Haute, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010,
in his residence. He was born Nov. 10, 1920, in Cresco, Iowa, to Robert Templeton and
Tresa (Ames) Templeton. Robert spent 22 years with Gulf Oil Company, then spent 18
years with the State of Indiana Employment Security Division before retiring.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jean (Keller) Templeton; a son, Roy
Templeton and his wife Mary of Louisville, Ky.; two daughters, Carol Marietta and Gerald
Dix of Terre Haute, and Phyllis Polizotto and husband Kim of Greenfield; four grandsons,
Larry Marietta and wife Michelle, Brock Marietta and Megan Rost, Todd Polizotto and wife
Mindy, and Kyle Polizotto and wife Jeannie; a great-granddaughter, Molly Marietta; and
several nieces and nephews.
He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, the Noon Optimist Club, and
Kriestenstein American Legion Post 104. Robert was a B-17 pilot with the U.S. Army Air
Corps, during World War II, serving with the 8th Army Air Corps, 379th Bombardment
Group, he was involved with the Second Schweinfurt raid on Oct. 14, 1943, also know as
“Black Thursday,” in which more than 600 airmen were killed or captured. It became the
worst day of the war for the U.S. 8th Air Corps. While serving, Robert earned several
commendations, including the Purple Heart and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Callahan-DeBaun
Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave., with funeral services on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at

Daniel Eugene O’Donnell
TERRE HAUTE — Daniel Eugene O’Donnell, 61, of Terre Haute, died Friday, Nov. 12,
2010, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones, after a short, brave battle with lung
cancer. He was born May 9, 1949, in Terre Haute, to Kenneth and Betty Jean (Cook) O’
Donnell. They preceded him in death.
Dan is survived by his beloved partner, Rita Kenyon of Terre Haute; one son, Kenneth
Daniel O’Donnell of Atlanta; daughters, Tracey Lee O’Donnell of Waco, Ga., and Amy
Sue Bossick of Indianapolis; stepdaughter, Amy Lynn Faulkner of Waco, Ga.; brothers,
David W. O’Donnell (Susan), and Dennis O’Donnell; sisters, Carol Sue (James Thomas)
Walker, Linda Danikow, and Brenda Cash (Gene Jones), all of Terre Haute; and
numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who were like
family.
Danny graduated from State High School in 1968. He worked several places including
Midland Glass, and for his brother-in-law, as a contractor with his brothers. He later went
to work for himself as an independent contract painter.
He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and love for life. He loved hunting,
fishing, and playing poker with family and friends.
Visitation for Danny will be Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Thomas Funeral

William Joseph "Bill" Fields
TERRE HAUTE — William Joseph “Bill” Fields, 83, of West Terre Haute passed away
peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at 11:42 a.m. in the St. Vincent Seton Specialty
Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind. Bill was born on May 24, 1927, in West Terre Haute to
Robert Fields and Margaret Chadwick Fields. He graduated from Concannon High School
in 1945. He then enlisted in the United States Navy becoming a World War II Veteran
having served in the Pacific until the end of the war. After his military service, he attended
Indiana State Teachers College, now Indiana State University, where he graduated with a
bachelor of science degree in Secondary Science Education. He later received a masters
degree in Science Education and School Administration. On June 25, 1949, he married
his high school sweetheart, Marjorie Lee “Marge” Mays. His teaching career began in
1953 in Harrisburg, Ill. In 1954 he taught in Marshall, Ill., and in 1955 he began his career
in Vigo County Schools where he taught at Consolidated, Woodrow Wilson, and West
Vigo High School. He also coached basketball and track and retired in 1991 after 40
years of teaching. Bill was a member of the St. George Episcopal Church, the National
Rifle Association, the Retired Teachers Association, the Sycamore Model A Club, and the
American Legion Krietenstein Post 104. He was a former member of the Kiwanis
International and Quails Unlimited. He was an active outdoorsman who loved to hunt and
fish, and also raised and trained several hunting dogs. He loved woodworking and touring
the countryside in his Model A.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 61 years, Marge; a daughter and son-in-law, Jolee
and Michael Garis; two grandchildren, Matthew William Garis, and Marissa Garis Keifer
and her husband, Christopher, and three great-grandchildren, Michael, Olivia, and
Caroline Grace.
Episcopal Burial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church,
215 N. 7th St., Terre Haute with Father Jack Brockman officiating and the eulogy given by
Bob Rouse. Entombment will be in Chapel Of Memories Mausoleum in Roselawn Memorial
Park with graveside military rites by the American Legion Krietenstein Post No. 104.
Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home with a devotional prayer
service at 7 p.m. There will also be visitation from 9 a.m. until service time in the Church

Lou Ann (Furnas) Deighton
TERRE HAUTE — Lou Ann (Furnas) Deighton, 73, of Terre Haute, passed away Monday,
Nov. 15, 2010, at 11:30 p.m., in her residence. She retired after 23 years as a nurse’s
aide with Union Hospital. Lou Ann was born Jan. 31, 1937, in Terre Haute, to Ernest
Furnas and Maxine M. (Murphy) Furnas.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Donald Deighton; her father of Terre Haute;
two daughters, Connie Black and husband Lance of Rushville, Ill., and Donna Austin and
husband Calvin of Terre Haute; a son, Danny Deighton and wife Diana of Brazil; nine
grandchildren, Jenny, Brent, Laura, Michael, Michelle, Craig, Morgan, Brooke and
Bradley; four great-grandchildren, Jack, Piper, Gavin and Wyatt; and two half brothers,
Eddie Furnas and Larry Furnas; half sister, Sondra Kay Tackett.
She was preceded in death by her mother; a daughter, Barbara Lynn Deighton; a half
sister, Carolain Milner; and a half brother, Ron Furnas.

Ruth E. Mann
TERRE HAUTE — Ruth E. Mann, 90, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday night in the
Royal Oaks Rehabilitation Center. Born Dec. 11, 1919 in Terre Haute, she was the
daughter of Edward Hodson and Margaret (Lee) Hodson. She married Willis E. Mann and
he preceded her in death. Ruth had retired from the Bemis Corporation and her hobby
was playing cards.
Survivors include her children, Janet Galloway and husband Chuck of Marshall, Ill., Willis
Mann Jr. and wife Cindy of West Terre Haute, and Philip Mann; grandchildren, Lisa
Jenkins and husband Lloyd of Terre Haute, Craig Jones of Indianapolis, Kenny Mann of
West Terre Haute, and Kimberly Shepard of West Terre Haute; several great-
grandchildren; a sister, Jenny Anstead of Noblesville; a sister-in-law, Irma Mann of Terre
Haute; and many nieces and nephews.
Her parents; husband; brothers Art, Ed, Sheil and Bill Hodson; and sisters, Priscilla

Theresa Ann “Annie” Pair
TERRE HAUTE — Theresa Ann “Annie” Pair, 76, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday,
Nov. 18, 2010, at 5:52 p.m., at Southwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, after a long
battle with bone cancer. She was born Oct. 31, 1934, in Terre Haute, to Charles
Galloway and Mary Norton Galloway.
Annie was a graduate of Garfield High School. She was a homemaker, who had also
assisted on a special needs bus, and had been a caregiver. She had been a member of
the Elks Club’s Ladies Auxiliary, and of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed
dancing, socializing, bowling, golfing and boating.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Lee Pair, who passed
away Nov. 29, 2007; her brothers, Charles Galloway, Bill Galloway, Dudley Galloway,
Jerry Galloway, Bud Galloway, and Paul Galloway; and her sisters, Mary Biggs,
Josephine Biggs, Ginger Watts, and Betty Ritchie.
She is survived by her sons, Larry Pair and wife Linda of Florida, Bryan Pair and wife
Brenda, Jeff Pair and Debbie, Mike Pair and wife Jocene, all of Terre Haute; her former
daughter-in-law, Donnietta Elmore; a brother, Robert Galloway of Norfolk, Va.; 18

Leslie Dean
TERRE HAUTE — Our beloved father and husband, Leslie Dean, was born Aug. 17,
1926, near Jasonville, and died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, after a long battle with Parkinson’
s disease. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mabel Miller Dean; and his father,
Charles Dean.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Wanda (Peggy) Stewart Dean. Leslie is also
survived by his son, Scott Alan Dean and his wife Teresa Dean. They are the parents of
Taylor, Aaron, Logan, and Megan. His older daughter is Debra Dean Reed. She is the
mother of Dr. Robert R. Reed, and David Leslie Reed and his wife Adrienne. Their
children are Dakota Reed, Leslie Deanne Woods and Ambyr Echavez. Leslie Deanne’s
children are Lilee and Alex. Leslie also is survived by his twin brother, Wesley; his sister,
Mary Ann Maconkin and her husband Harold of Homosassa, Fla.; and his brother, Melvin
Dean of Coalmont. He also has several nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Coalmont High School, Leslie joined the Merchant Marines and
worked as a radio operator there during World War II. After the war, he attended Rose
Polytechnic Institute for one year. Then he served in the Army National Guard, the Navy
Reserve, and the Coast Guard. Leslie retired from Pfizer after working as a lab technician
and training other lab technicians for more than 40 years. He was a member of the Terre
Haute Bible Center Church where he served on the board. Leslie enjoyed hunting,
working crossword puzzles, (he did them in ink!), playing Scrabble, taking his children
and grandchildren on vacation, and watching Jeopardy. But his greatest joys were fishing
with his son Scott, watching Aaron, Logan, and David play baseball, and attending Robert’
s PhD ceremony. He also loved reading books to the little ones as they sat on his lap. He
was a fine man who loved his family, his country, and his God. He never, ever complained
when he learned of his terminal illness. We are very proud to have had the privilege of
being in his family. He is greatly loved and will be tremendously missed. He will always be
our hero.

Drive, from 4 to 8 p.m., and again Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, from noon until service

Wilbur P. Kress
TERRE HAUTE — Wilbur P. Kress, 90, of Terre Haute, died Nov. 22, 2010, in Seaton
Specialty Hospital in Lafayette. He was born in Lafayette, on Oct. 1, 1920, to Anthony J.
and Helen (Schick) Kress. He married Martha Jane (Barton) Kress on Nov. 8, 1944, and
she preceded him in death on April 12, 1982. He was a U.S. Navy aviator during World
War II. He was employed at the Tribune-Star as a printer for many years and retired in
1988.
He is survived by a daughter, Pat Petrini and her husband Frank Petrini; a son, Stephen
Kress and his wife Rena Kress; a brother, Robert Kress and his wife Marge Kress; two
sisters, Rita Callahan and her husband Robert Callahan, and Catherine Butts.; his six
grandchildren, Stephanie Kress, Darren Kastelic, Laura Hoag, Linda Flatt, Bart Petrini,
and Frank Petrini; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents he
was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Piker and her husband Walter; and a brother-in-
law, Virgil Butts.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill
Drive, with Father Rick Ginther officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Doris B. Burns
Doris B. Burns, 97, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 21, 2010, in
Royal Oaks Rehabilitation Center. Born Aug. 22, 1913, in Clay County. She was the
daughter of Nathan Harden and Margaret Comer. She married Harold R. Burns in 1932.
She had one daughter, Charlene. Her parents; husband; daughter; brothers and sisters
(Alice, William, Zenia, Paris, Edith, Guy, Faye, Herschel, Mary, Halcie, Paul, Pauline and
Sylvia “Irene”) all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her granddaughters, Jacqui Warren and husband Todd of Terre
Haute, Lorrie Hills and husband Troy of Terre Haute, and Kim Fritch and husband Aaron
of Van Buren; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Evan, Ian and Alaina Warren, Drako Hills,
Matthew Rudisel, Brianna Fritch.
She was a member of Barbour Avenue United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker
and enjoyed playing the organ, singing religious songs, gardening, reading, cooking,
crocheting and spending time with family.
Graveside services will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park, with Pastor

Floyd F. Brownfield
Floyd F. Brownfield Sr., 84, of Terre Haute, passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at 2:30
p.m. in Union Hospital. He was born May 27, 1926, in Terre Haute, the son of Flora and
Walter Brownfield. He was a World War II Navy veteran having served aboard the USS
Mobile in the South Pacific.
Floyd was the former founder and owner of General Heating & Air Conditioning Co. of
Terre Haute, retiring in 1998. He enjoyed hunting and fishing at his lake.
He is survived by his wife Elsie, whom he married Feb. 1, 1947; his sons, Floyd F.
Brownfield Jr. and his wife Rosalyn, and Gary A. Brownfield Sr., all of Terre Haute; his
daughter Becky Waechter and her husband Jeff of Chillicothe, Ill.; grandsons, Troy
Brownfield and his wife Becky of Plainfield, and Nick and his wife Jessie of Chillicothe;
great-grandsons, Connor and Kyle Brownfield of Plainfield; extended family, Gary A.
Brownfield, Jr. of Terre Haute.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Cecil, Richard, Kenneth and
Scottie; and his sisters, Louise, Charlotte, Edna, Ethel and Jeanette.
Services will be Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at 12:30 p.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N.

Carol Jean Ellinger
TERRE HAUTE — Carol Jean Ellinger, 68, of Terre Haute, died Nov. 25, 2010, at
Regional Hospital. She was born in Terre Haute on Sept. 15, 1942, to Lawrence and
Jenevieve (Bridgewater) VanSant.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Ellinger, whom she married on Aug. 1, 1961. Also
surviving are her children, Henry Ellinger Jr., Angel Ellinger, and Pam Chilton and her
husband Raymond. She has two brothers Larry VanSant and Philip VanSant. There are
nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Greg Ellinger.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with the

Elnora Doris Wilding
TERRE HAUTE — Elnora Doris Wilding, 87, of Terre Haute, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2010,
in Union Hospital. She was born Jan. 21, 1923, in Vigo County, to James and Ella
Graham McMilliam.
She is survived by two daughters, Sherri Bottom and husband Marlin of Grapevine,
Texas, and Janet Newton and husband Jeff of Terre Haute; two sons, John Wilding and
wife Marie of Stockton, Calif., and Gene Wilding and wife Diana of Brownsburg; 12
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was
preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph; and four sisters, Ida Fulk, Edith
Jones, Sue Murdock, and Ruth Farr.
She was a member of the Eastside Church of Christ.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at Mattox Wood Funeral Home and
Crematory, with the Rev. Peter Reed officiating. Visitation will be from noon to service
time Monday. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Bernetta M. Sereno
TERRE HAUTE — Bernetta M. Sereno, 78, of West Terre Haute, passed away at 8:15 a.
m., Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, in Union Hospital. She was born Dec. 30, 1931, in Flora,
Ill., to Virgil and Edith Barnes.
Survivors include her husband, Nicholas R. Sereno, whom she married on Dec. 29,
1951; four daughters, Carla Bobbitt and her husband, John, of Terre Haute, Cheryl
Hamburg of Farmersburg, Christine LeBrun of West Terre Haute, and Cindy Green and
her husband, Carl, of West Terre Haute; two brothers, Harold Barnes and his wife,
Shirley, and Robert Barnes and his wife, Emojean; her only surviving sister-in-law and
brother-in-law, Robert and Frances Rosch; 10 grandchildren, John Bobbitt II, Nicholas
Bobbitt (Heather), Nicole Wheeler (Gary), Rocky Hamburg, Lance LeBrun (Rachelle),
Jessica LeBrun, Lucas Green, Matthew Green, Taylor Green, and Tori Green; five great-
grandchildren, Macen and Brilei Bobbitt, Skyler and Kellsie Wheeler, and Grace LeBrun;
and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was a charter member of the Francis Vigo Italian American Club, and a graduate of
Gerstmeyer High School. She enjoyed her family and friends.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Leek
officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday
and one hour prior to services Tuesday. The family kindly suggests that in lieu of
flowers, and in her honor, that a simple act of kindness be paid forward to others.

Louis Melvin Skinner
TERRE HAUTE — Louis Melvin Skinner, 82, of Terre Haute, passed away at 6:30 a.m.
on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, in his residence. He was born in Terre Haute on Jan. 7,
1928, to Louis C. and Nellie Goad Skinner. He was a retired printer with Tabco and was
an Air Force veteran.
He is survived by his brother, John W. Skinner and wife Kay of Terre Haute; and his
special niece, Kali Skinner.
In keeping with his wishes, private services will be held in Callahan-DeBaun Funeral
Home, 2425 Wabash Ave., with burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Hazel Wagner
TERRE HAUTE — Hazel Wagner, 86, of Terre Haute, passed away at 11:25 a.m. on
Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, in Springhill Village. She was born in Parke County, on Sept. 2,
1924, to John Alexander and Mary Lou Davis Taylor. She married Herschel Chester
Wagner on Sept. 28, 1940, and he preceded her in death in 1975.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Roshel-Burns and husband Michael J., and
Beverly Crapo, all of Terre Haute; six grandchildren, Rob Mann, Tim Mann, Eddie
Crapo, Jay Crapo, Sonya Mann, and Greg Roshel; six great-grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by one brother and five
sisters.
She was a member of Northside Community United Methodist Church, the Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 972 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Wabash Senior Citizens Center.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel,
85 E. Springhill Drive. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be on
Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the funeral home.
