Lukens, Mary Lou Sherer    

Mary Lou Sherer Lukens, 82, of Terre Haute, passed away peacefully Friday, March 26,
2010. She was born Nov. 13, 1927, in Terre Haute, to Forrest Sherer and Hazel Holmes
Sherer. Her husband of 40 years, Arthur L. Lukens Jr., preceded her in death in 1993.
Survivors include her children, John Lukens and his wife Karen of Terre Haute, Jan
Fredbeck and her husband Eric of Franklin, and Carolyn Nyren and her husband David of
Northbrook, Ill.; a brother, Wayne Sherer and his wife Liz of Terre Haute; a sister, Martha
Gettinger and her husband Jack of Merom; and a brother-in-law, Samuel C. Lukens and
his wife Pat of Littleton, Colo. She also is survived by her seven grandchildren, Rachel
Howard and her husband John, Graham Lukens and his wife Jess, Doug Fredbeck, Ellen
Fredbeck, David Nyren Jr., Sam Nyren and Hannah Nyren; a great-granddaughter,
Charlotte Howard; and many nieces and nephews.
A lifelong resident of Terre Haute, Mary Lou was a 1945 graduate of Wiley High School,
and a 1949 graduate of DePauw University in Greencastle. She was active in several
community organizations including being a member and past president of Chapter
AW-PEO, member of First Congregational Church where she was active in the Mayflower
Guild, served on the board of directors of Wabash Valley Goodwill, and was a member of
Tri Kappa, Tri Delta Alumna Association and League of Terre Haute. Mary Lou loved
playing golf, being with family and rooting for her favorite sports teams.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010, in First
Congregational Church, 630 Ohio St., with the Rev. Dawn Carlson officiating. Private burial
will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., in
Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St. The family kindly requests that

Parcus, Marion E.   

Marion E. Parcus, 91, of Terre Haute, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010, in Terre Haute
Regional Hospital. He was retired from J.I. Case. Marion was born on Dec. 5, 1918, in Vigo
County to Chauncey Strafford Parcus and Lola (Beatty) Parcus.
He is survived by a son, David Parcus and his wife Linda of Terre Haute; a daughter,
Susan Sheffler and her husband Chris of San Antonio; two brothers, Robert Hansen of
Terre Haute and Albert Parcus of Huntsville, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Joel Watson and
his wife Shelli, Lynsey Watson, Lesley Watson, Amanda Watson, Kimberly Parcus, D.J.
Parcus and his wife Stephanie, and Kristy Parcus; five stepgrandchildren, April Ray,
Amber Gurley, Alicia Ray, Stacy Sheffler, and Zach Sheffler; a great-grandson, Jude
Watson; four stepgreat-grandchildren, Alexia Ray, Corbin Gurley, Olivia Gurley, and
Raegan Gurley; two sisters-in-law, Mary Hohlt and Ann Steiner; a good friend, Ann
Bowers; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Mickey. He was preceded in death by
his wife, Betty Ruth (Steiner) Parcus, who died March 10, 2002; a brother, Paul Parcus; a
sister, Margaret Elaine Parcus St. John; and his parents.
Marion was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, a life-member of Lawton-Byrum
Post 972 Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of the 320th Bombardment Group, the
B-26 Marauders Group, a 50-year member of William Penn Lodge 727 Free & Accepted
Masons, worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps,  a member of Northside Community
United Methodist Church, a Ham Radio operator, enjoyed gardening, flowers, working in
his yard, and a Christian man who loved his family very much.
Funeral services are Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at 10 a.m. in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85
E. Springhill Drive, with his nephew, the Rev. Allen Lenker officiating. Burial will be in
Roselawn Memorial Park with Lawton-Byrum Post 972 VFW conducting military honors.
Visitation will be Monday, April 5, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home with a
Masonic memorial service at 7 p.m.
Beaver, Joy Anna    

Jan. 9, 1922 – April 1, 2010
Joy Anna Beaver, 88, of Bedford, died at 4:25 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010, in Core
Nursing Home. Born Jan. 9, 1922, in Prairie Creek, the daughter of Joy E. Pitman and
Josephine Gobin. She married Bob Beaver on June 20, 1950, and he preceded her in
death.
She graduated from Prairie Creek High School as valedictorian of her class. She attended
Indiana State University, where she earned her bachelor's and master's degrees. She
retired in 1987 having taught for 43 years in the Vigo County School Corporation and at
Fortville and Covington. She was a member of the Baptist Church of Prairie Creek and
First Baptist Church of Terre Haute. She was a member and regent of the Fort Harrison
Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, member and president of
Daughters of American Colonists, and member of Colonial Dames of XVII Century. She
was a member and past president of the Wabash Valley Art Guild, the Swope Art Museum
and member and past president of the Swope Art Alliance. She was worthy matron of
Evelo Order of the Eastern Star, which merged with Prairieton Lodge Order of the Eastern
Star in which she became a 50-year member.
Survivors include a son, David Robert Beaver and wife Lynn of Bedford; grandchildren, Jill
of Bedford, Thomas of Bloomington and Andrew of Louisville, Ky.; and a sister, Norma Ritz
of Pendleton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Letta
Mae Tarrah.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, April 5, 2010 in First Baptist
Church, 877 E. Poplar St., in Terre Haute. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Terre
Haute. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010, Day & Carter Mortuary,
1133 Lincoln Ave., in Bedford, and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Monday, in the
church, in Terre Haute. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be
made to the Swope Art Museum.
Keller, John E.   

John Edward Keller, "Jack," 79, left this world on Friday, March 19, 2010, four days shy of
his 80th birthday in Spring Hill, Fla., where he had resided the past seven years. He was
born on March 23, 1930, in Terre Haute, to Lois Virginia Bilderback Keller and Alvin
Russell Keller, who preceded him in death.
Jack was raised in Terre Haute and graduated from Terre Haute Wiley High School, a
member of the Class of 1948. He was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega social fraternity
at Indiana University, and went on to receive his BS/BA from the IU School of Business in
1955. Upon graduation, he joined the D-X Sun-Ray Oil Company as a territory manager.
Jack returned to IU in 1959, and received his Juris Doctor from the Indiana University
School of Law in 1963. Jack went on to practice law from 1963 until his death.
In addition to establishing and operating his law practice, Jack was a Deputy Prosecutor in
Vigo County from 1967 through 1970, and in 1979. He also from time to time taught The
Legislative Process and State and Local Government as an Adjunct Associate Professor
at Indiana State University.   
When his country called, Jack served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea as a
member of the Quartermaster Corps. He was honorably discharged as a first lieutenant.
He was a life-long reader, golfer, and IU Basketball fan. Residing in Florida his last years,
he would call family, nearly always closing the conversation with the inquiry, "How are the
Hoosiers going to be this year"?
Jack was a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity,
and served various community groups including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Vigo County
and the United Way.
Jack is survived by his "dearly best beloved" Dorothy Lam of Spring Hill; a half sister,
Paula Bartholome of New Buffalo, Mich.; three children, David (Jennifer) Keller of
Indianapolis, Kathleen (Tim) Price of Lake Lemon, and Christina (Dan) Walker of Avon;
and four grandchildren, Andrew, Christopher and Max Keller and Madison Walker.
A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. Friday, April 9, 2010, at Callahan-DeBaun
Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate
memorial contributions made to either The V Foundation for Cancer Research, or the
Lance Armstrong Foundation.
Miller, Forest E.   

Forest E. Miller, 92, of Terre Haute, passed away early Saturday morning, April 3, 2010, in
Union Hospital. Born July 9, 1917, in Terre Haute, the son of James W. Miller and Susie J.
(Cutsinger) Miller. He married Julia Kaperak on Feb. 14, 1942, and she survives. They
were married for 68 years.
Forest served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a carpenter/tiler for
Noffke's Construction for 35 years. He was an avid bowler in three senior leagues bowling
every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. His hobbies include yardwork and puzzles.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Judy Schomer and husband Gary of Terre Haute;
two grandkids, Bill Schomer and wife Casey of West Lafayette, and Debra Collins and
husband Mike of Terre Haute; great-grandchildren, Kimberly Collins and Katie Collins, both
of Terre Haute, Kathryn Schomer Christine Schomer, and Daniel Schomer, all of West
Lafayette; two nieces, Colleen Potter and Beverly Cooper; and two nephews, Keith
Loudermilk and Kenny Loudermilk. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother,
Fred Miller; two sisters, Hazel Watson and Pauline Dowden; and a great-grandson,
Richard Schomer.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. At Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, with Pastor Peter Lafko officiating.
Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Terre Haute Veterans of Foreign Wars Post
972 will perform military rites at the graveside.
Neil, Jean    

Jean Neil, 96, of Terre Haute, died early Friday morning, April 2, 2010, in Meadows Manor
East. She was a bookkeeper during her life having worked for Cole Auto Company,
Krausbeck Dry Cleaners most recently for Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home. Jean was
born Aug. 7, 1913, in West Terre Haute, to John A. Neil and Anna Craig Neil.
Survivors include her sister, Winifred Zeid of Worthington, Ohio; five nephews, Frank
Young and his wife Patty of Columbus, Ohio, John Zeid and his wife Judith of Branson,
Mo., Robert Zeid and his wife Katheryn of Westfield, Ind., and Stephen Zeid and his wife
Robin and James Zeid and his wife Laura, all of Dublin, Ohio; and several great-nieces,
great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great nephews. She was preceded in death
by her parents; and two sisters, Margaret Young and Rachel Anne Neil.
Jean attended Brown's Business School and Indiana State University. She was a member
of the Christadelphian Church at Jasonville and was a member of the American Society of
Women Accountants.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010, in Callahan &
Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St., with Brother Stephen M. Evans officiating. Burial
will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Thursday
from noon to 2 p.m.
Swank, Betty Irene    

Betty Irene Swank, 84, of Terre Haute, passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 6, 2010.
She was born on May 12, 1925, in Crawfordsville, to Clarance and Maude (Cassion) Lowe.
She loved to read, collect dolls, and antiques. Betty and her late husband owned and
operated their own antique store for many years. She was even a former member of the
Dolls Club.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Swank, who passed
away in 2004; a son, Gary Swank, who passed away in 2003; as well as her siblings,
Martha, Eddy, Lyda and Tommy.
She is survived by her five children, Susie Pruitt and husband Ronald of Terre Haute,
Linda Walker and husband David of Brazil, James Swank and wife Connie of Terre Haute,
Sandra Kirby of Universal, Larry Swank and wife Denise of Terre Haute and a
daughter-in-law, Andrea Swank of Terre Haute; eight grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Margaret, Mary, Patsy,
Jean, Fred, Jim, Emory, Sam, and Wanda, all of Crawfordsville; a niece, Barbara Clark of
Veedersburg; and many other nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Thursday in Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St. Services will be
today at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Tom Hess officiating. Burial will follow in
Roselawn Memorial Park.
McNiel, Mildred McKee Bevis    

Mildred McKee Bevis McNiel, 91, of Terre Haute, passed away at 5:01 p.m. on Tuesday,
April 6, 2010, in Union Hospital and is now with her Lord Jesus Christ. She was born on
March 30, 1919, in Terre Haute, to Granville McKee and Amy Rollings McKee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William McNiel, in February 1999; as well as
five brothers, Vern, Charles, James, Harry and Joe McKee.  
She is survived by her children, Gloria A. Harrison of Terre Haute, Thomas A Bevis (Janet)
of Paoli, Forrest E. Bevis (Janet) of Port Orange, Fla., Marvin E. Bevis of Terre Haute, Billie
Jo Van Gilder-McNiel of North Port, Fla., Gary McNiel of Brazil, and Susan McNiel of
Indianapolis; her grandchildren, Carolyn Martin, Patty Harrison, Nancy Kelly, Jason Bevis,
Molly Weddle, Scott Bevis, and Tonya Elliot; her great-grandchildren, Bob, Larry, Larry
Joe, Kim, J.J., Amanda, Charlie, Alex, and Sammie; and her great-great-grandchildren,
Bobby, Wesley, Jocelyn, Larry, Clayton, Bradlee, Bree, Haydon, Connor and Paisley.
Mildred retired from U.S. Baking Company in Seelyville after 14 years of service, was a
member of Bible Baptist Church, Wabash Valley Senior Citizens Center and also a member
of Terre Haute Moose Lodge 336.
Funeral services will be at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Saturday, April 10, 2010, at 1
p.m., with Pastor Bert Baker officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park.  Visitation will
be today from 4 to 8 p.m., and again Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the funeral home.
von Leer, Mary I.    

Mary I. von Leer, FNP, 67, of Terre Haute, died Monday at Terre Haute Union Hospital.
She was born on Nov. 7, 1942, in Terre Haute, the daughter of Hunter J. von Leer and
Jessie I. von Leer.
She graduated from Riley High School and in 1962 from Union Hospital School of Nursing,
as a registered nurse. In 1973, she completed her certification as a Family Nurse
Practitioner from the Indiana School of Nursing and School of Medicine, as one of the first
nurse practitioners in the State of Indiana. She attained her Bachelor's of Nursing from
Indiana State University in 2001. She was active in the nursing and medical community in
Terre Haute. She worked as a nurse for St. Anthony's and Union Hospital, before leaving
to go into private practice, where she spent the remainder of her 47 year nursing career.
Working for area physicians in private practice, she enjoyed privileges at both Union and
Regional Hospitals, and national certification as a nurse practitioner. She was a member of
the Society of Advanced Practice Nurses, American Nurses Association, Alpha Sigma
Lambda – Kappa Psi, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and Indiana
State Nurses Association. She was the recipient of the 1998 Florence Nightingale Award
and the 2004 Primary Care Lifetime Achievement Treatment Award. In 1972, she placed
first among 400 cardio-vascular nurses from throughout the United States, who competed
in a three-day symposium on ECG Interpretation and was offered an opportunity to instruct
the symposium the following year. She was well known in the nursing community, devoted
to treatment of the ill, and worked actively until the days immediately preceding her death.
She offered time to teach nursing and medical staff continuing education courses, often in
ECG Interpretation.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bret Dale Reece. She is survived by her brother,
Hunter von Leer and wife Fariba of Santa Monica, Calif.; her four sons, including Scott
Reece of Riley and girlfriend Cheri Page, Hunter Reece and wife Elizabeth of Williamsport,
Oscar Brosey IV and fiancée Brittney Burk, and Tyler Brosey and girlfriend Kelsey
Newport, both of Terre Haute; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call on Saturday, April 10, 2010, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Callahan-DeBaun

DePugh, LaVerne Shanklin    

Graveside services for LaVerne Shanklin DePugh, 100, of Wildwood, Texas, will be held
Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park, in Terre Haute.  Visitation
will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service.
Mrs. DePugh was born Sept. 21, 1909, in Terre Haute, and passed away April 1, 2010, in
Woodville, Texas. In 1931, she received a bachelor's degree in music from Indiana
University, and received her teaching certificate from Indiana State Teachers College. She
taught music for 30 years, and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega and Alpha Delta Kappa
sororities.    
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl John DePugh; and brother, Jack L.
Shanklin. She is survived by one brother, Robert L. Shanklin; Bob Raines (considered as a
son); nephews, Vernon Shanklin and wife Linda, Richard Shanklin and wife Sharon,
Christopher Shanklin, and Steven Shanklin; nieces, Paulette Graevens and Judy Voorhies;
and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Kingery, Shirley    

Shirley Kingery, 75, of Terre Haute, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April
10, 2010, at 9:05 a.m. in Union Hospital. She was born on Oct. 12, 1934, in Louisville, Ky.,
to Rex Threlkel and Lucille Read Threlkel. She was formerly a secretary for Area 7 Council
on Aging.
She was a member of North Terre Haute Christian Church for over 20 years, where she
was a member of the Bible Study Fellowship, Women's Ministry and a Sunday School
teacher. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and disciple of Christ. She was a
member of the Red Hat Society, and had attended design school in Louisville and had
made many of her children's and grandchildren's clothes.
She is survived by two sons, William R. Kingery Jr. of Wittman, Ariz., and Michael Kingery
and his wife Marlene of Clinton; three daughters, Dottie Clark and her fiancé Jim King,
Susan Hurley and her husband Richard, and Sheri Hadley and her husband Tom, all of
Terre Haute; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Those awaiting her arrival were her husband, William Kingery Sr., who passed away June
21, 2001; her grandson, Nick Meneely; one sister, Jo Ann Oxendine; and two brothers, Bill
Threlkel and Charlie Threlkel.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at North Terre Haute Christian Church,
3133 E. Park Ave., in Terre Haute. Visitation will be in the church Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
and Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th
Street, has been entrusted with arrangements. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park,
with the Rev. Larry Scott officiating. The family would like to thank Vista Care Hospice, and
ask that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Vista Care Hospice.
Roth, Alberta    

Alberta Roth, 95, of West Terre Haute, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Union
Hospital. She was born Aug. 12, 1914, in Brazil, to Loretta (Patterson) Cramer and Edward
Cramer. She was married to Harry "Nook" Roth, on Sept. 4, 1937, until his death on April
23, 1967. She retired from the Vigo County Voter Registration office, after 34 years of
employment.
She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Thornton and her husband Bill, and Jane Ann
Davidson, all of West Terre Haute; four grandchildren, Jim Thornton and his wife Lisa of
Noblesville, Don Thornton and his wife Cheryl of Terre Haute, Julie Gloyeske and her
husband John of Greenwood, and Lisa Hettich of Cloverdale; eight great-grandchildren,
Kara, Nathan, Tyler, and Cory Thornton, Lindsey and Makayla Hettich, and Jordan and
Madison Gloyeske; a niece, Carolyn Taylor and her husband Jerry, and a nephew, Robert
Cramer and his wife JoAnn, all of Terre Haute. Also a special niece, Anna Ruth Lydick of
West Terre Haute. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her
son-in-law, Herb Davidson; grandson, Don Hettich; two brothers, Harvey and Vernon
Cramer; two sisters, Geraldine Stark and Aletha Deming; as well as several other nieces
and nephews.
She was a member of the American Legion Post 501 Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post 6574 Auxiliary, IMC retirees, and was a life long supporter of the Vigo County
Democrat Party.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 13, 2010, from 3 to 7 p.m., in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85
E. Springhill Drive, with funeral services at 7 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Steve Moore. We
will gather at DeBaun Springhill Chapel at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010, to
process to Roselawn Memorial Park for the burial. If friends so desire, the family suggests

Davis, Agnes    

Agnes Davis, 85, of Terre Haute, passed away at 1:33 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2010, at
Union Hospital. She was born Oct. 31, 1924, in Robinson, Ill., to Millard and Lillie Martin.
She is survived by a son, Larry Dennis; three grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.
Service will be at noon Thursday in Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, 4660 Lafayette Ave., with
the Rev. Bill Herb officiating. Visitation is 10 a.m. until services Thursday. Burial is at
Roselawn Memorial Park.
Arnold, Ruth D.    

Ruth D. Arnold, 86, of Avon, passed away April 12, 2010, in Hearth at Prestwick Nursing
Facility in Avon. Born June 15, 1923, in Terre Haute, she was the daughter of Henry Drake
and Jeanette (Shull) Drake. Ruth had retired from the phone company. Her hobbies
included yard work, gardening and golf. She had lived for several years in Florida. She
married Robert Arnold, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Brad Arnold of Avon; two grandchildren, Derek Arnold and Lauren
Arnold, both of Avon; a sister, Betty Jo Richmond and husband Dick of Florida; and several
nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Virgil
and Paul Drake; and three sisters, Marjorie Johnson, Beulah Bernhardt and Aleen Davis.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500
N. Clinton St. Services are at noon Thursday, in the funeral home, with Pastor Ray Leach
officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Gorman Jr., Ernest   

Ernest "Ernie" Gorman Jr., 71, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 10,
2010, at Pickering House Hospice, after an 18-month battle with acute myeloid leukemia.
He was born on July 17, 1938, to the late Ernest and Cora (Fitzgerald) Gorman Sr., in
Terre Haute. He also was preceded in death by father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herschell
and Ruth Bouillez. He graduated from Glenn High School, Terre Haute, in 1957.  
Survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia (Bouillez); daughter, Kerry Westenbarger of
Ohio; sons, Terry, and David (Sue) Gorman, all of Ohio; four grandchildren, Christian
Evans, Skyler Westenbarger, Danielle Gorman and Tyler Gorman; sisters, Helen (Ed)
MacNeil of New Hampshire, Judy (Pat) Euriga of Indiana; brothers, Lee (Ann) of Missouri,
Wayne, and Tim (Karen) Gorman, all of Indiana; special cousins, Ronnie and Charlotte
Gorman of Indiana; sister-in-law, Marsha (David) Carlock of Indiana; former brother-in-law,
Mike Pine of Florida; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.  
He retired from Overnite Transportation in 2001, and continued working for the family
business, Gorman's Body Shop. He was a member of the Terre Haute Jaycees, and served
for many years with Junior Achievement of the Wabash Valley. Ernie also was a member of
the Indiana Air National Guard. For many years, he had the joy of owning USAC midget and
sprint cars with his family, (EGI Racing). They enjoyed numerous weekends traveling
around the United States, racing with close friends. Ernie felt like all those who raced for
EGI were like a part of his family.
Ernie was loved by all who knew him, and was always laughing and joking. Special thanks
to the entire staff of the 11th floor hematology clinic at the OSU James Cancer Hospital.

Trezise, Bonnie E.    

Bonnie E. Trezise, 79, of Terre Haute, passed away Wednesday evening, April 14, 2010, in
Union Hospital with her family by her side. She was born on May 13, 1930, in Vermillion
County, Ind., to Harold and Iva (Boyd) Jones.
She was a homemaker for most of her life. She was an active member of Barbour Avenue
United Methodist Church, a member of United Methodist Women's, and Christian Women's.
She was formerly very active with the American Cancer Society, Terre Haute North Music
Boosters, and Lange Elementary PTA.
Bonnie is survived by her two daughters, Julia A. Marietta and husband Nick of Brazil, and
Erma L. Reynolds and husband Chris; half children, Virginia Snyder and John L. Trezise, all
of Terre Haute. Also surviving are grandchildren, Sarah M. Marietta and Nicholas A.
Marietta, both of Brazil, Megan C. Reynolds of Terre Haute; and three half grandchildren.
Other survivors include a brother, Ira J. Jones and wife Karen of Dana; sister-in-law, Jean
Trezise of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren Trezise, who passed
away April 8, 1995; sisters, Barbara Nunn and husband Charles and Betty Sutton; half
son-in-law, Richard Snyder; brother-in-law, Charles Trezise; and brother and sister-in-law,
Jack and Marie Trezise.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. in Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with Pastors Bob and Kathy Roush
officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in
Bonnie's name may be made to Barbour Avenue United Methodist Church in honor of their
kitchen remodeling project.
Garry, Robert Francis    

Robert Francis Garry, 84, of Terre Haute, passed away early Thursday morning, April 15,
2010. He was born on Aug. 27, 1925, in Terre Haute, to Frank and Elizabeth (Davis) Garry.
Robert was a U.S. Navy veteran who served our country during World War II. He was a
proud member of the Union Christian Church in Terre Haute. He attended Notre Dame for
two years, and worked as a school teacher for the Clay City Schools for over 20 years. He
has accomplished and done many amazing things throughout his life. He ran the Plumbers
and Steamfitters recreation park, B and B Picnic Productions from 1960-1995. He served
many company picnics in the community. Bob was proud of his Irish heritage, he enjoyed
watching the Colts and spending time with his family.
Bob was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972, and the American
Legion Post 104.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan (Fisher) Garry, whom he married on Nov. 10, 1992;
children, Robert Garry and wife Jeanette, Cindy Wilson and special friend Fred Ladika,
Edward Garry and wife Jana, Ted Garry, and Patty Garry; stepchildren, Kevin Norman,
Kenny Norman and fiancée Janet, Chris Norman and wife Michelle, James Holton, and
Timmy Wallace. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Bob also
has left behind Margaret Crawley and all of his extended family in London, and a brother
and sister-in-law, Andrew and Lila Rowe, whom he dearly loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Steven Garry and Michael Garry;
granddaughter, Cera Garry; a half sister, Gloria Garry; and the mother of his children, Betty
Lagemann Garry, who passed away in 1976.
Visitation will be Monday, April 19, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m. in Union Christian Church.
Services will be Tuesday in the church at 10 a.m. with Pastor Mark Grayless officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Roselawn Funeral Home assisted the family in
making arrangements. VFW Post 972 will be performing military graveside rites.
Seneff, Mary Cathryn Wadsworth    

Mary Cathryn Wadsworth Seneff passed away Friday, April 9, 2010. She was 78 years old.
She was a 1950 graduate of Wiley High School and attended Indiana State University. She
was a member of the Northwest Church of Christ in Tampa, Fla., the Cosmopolitan Club of
Tampa, and the DESOTO chapter of the NSDAR in Tampa.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James O. Seneff, P.E.; her
parents, Harley and Myrtle Wadsworth; two brothers, Robert and Garland Wadsworth; and a
sister, Marjorie June Wadsworth.
Survivors include her son, Robert E. Seneff; granddaughter, Catherine M. Troxel;
great-grandson, Brandon D. Troxel; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be private funeral services on Monday, April 12, 2010. Burial will be in Roselawn
Memorial Park. Those wishing to do so, may make donations to the Civil Engineering
Department at Rose-Hulman or a charity of ones choice. Roselawn Funeral Home assisted
in making the arrangements.
Tague, Herman B.    

Herman B. Tague, 79, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2010, in his
residence. Born Feb. 19, 1931, in Riley, he was the son of Forrest Tague and Anna
(Goodwin) Tague. He married Anita Kirsch and she survives.
Herman served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a carpenter by trade and
worked for Paitson's. He was always ready to hear or tell a good joke. He enjoyed playing
cards, jigsaw puzzles, word searches, to shoot firecrackers and to fish. He was a good
husband and father.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Debbie Auler and Jeanine Crowe; three
grandchildren, Brock Easton and wife Diana, John Hendrix and his wife Abbe, and James
Crowe; three sisters, Gayle Maranovich, Faye Larison and husband Calvin, and Carmelita
Reece and husband Don; three brothers, Jerry Tague, Harold Tague, and Charles Tague
and wife Pat; and several nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Roselawn Memorial Park,  with
Brother Richard Griffin officiating. Roselawn Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
There will be a gathering for family and friends at the Seelyville Volunteer Fire Department.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Seelyville Fire Department.
Grohovsky, Louise R.   

Louise R. Grohovsky, 88, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Sunday, April 18, 2010, at Davis
Gardens Health Center. She was born Aug. 9, 1921, in Lincoln, Neb., to Moses and Naglia
Malooley.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon (Jeff) Claretto of Terre Haute; three sons, Larry
Grohovsky (Becky) of Paducah, Ky., Gary Grohovsky (Elaine) of Russellville, Ky., and Bob
Grohovsky (Tanzy Wallace) of Nashville, Tenn.; one sister, Judy Winniski of Terre Haute;
sisters-in-law, Rose Malooley and Tina Fenoglio, both of Terre Haute; 10 grandchildren,
Melissa, Emily, Audrey, Brad, Anna, Matthew, Ethan, Adele, Spencer, and Bowen; two great-
grandchildren, Alex and Logan; and many, many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who
she considered family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Grohovsky; her parents; brothers, Eli
Malooley and Joseph Malooley; sisters, Mary Simbol and Dolly Malooley.
She was an active member of Sacred Heart Church and Schulte High Schools Mothers'
Club, Sacred Heart Altar Society, and Annual Fall Fest. Her love of family and friends was
made most evident through the countless meals she prepared — a dizzying variety of Czech
and Syrian dishes — that will long be remembered. There was always an open plate at her
table for everyone.
Growing up during the Great Depression, the daughter of Syrian immigrants, Louise
learned the value and reward of hard work on the family farm. During World War II she
worked at Quaker Maid as head of the macaroni department, before starting her family. She
later worked at Bud's Barbecue, Muddy Maude's, and Deming School, where she retired as
a cook.
Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father
Darvin Winters officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and also
Wednesday from 10 a.m. until mass. Burial is at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers are
nephews, Jerry Grohovsky, Steve Grohovsky, Mike Grohovsky, John Grohovsky, Ed
Malooley, Tim Malooley and John Winniski. Mattox-Wood Funeral Home assisted with
arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to VistaCare Hospice, Sacred
Heart Church, or the Carmelite Monastery in Terre Haute.
Roby, Alana Rene "Lanie"    

Alana Rene Roby, 19, of Terre Haute, died early Saturday morning, April 17, 2010, from
injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident on east Margaret Avenue.
Alana, known to friends and family as Lanie, was born Sept. 5, 1990, in Terre Haute. She
attended Sugar Grove Elementary School from kindergarten through fourth grade, Davis
Park Elementary for fifth grade, and Woodrow Wilson Junior High School for sixth through
eighth grades, where she was a cheerleader. At West Vigo High School, she was a bat girl
and a member of Ambassadors, graduating in 2009 with honors. She was a student at
Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis, and worked part-time as a hostess at
Stables Steakhouse in Terre Haute.
Lanie loved to watch baseball games, especially her team at West Vigo and her favorite
Chicago Cubs. She loved outdoor activities – including  fishing, sunning,  flying kites, and
playing with her dogs, Paris, Johnny, Hallie, and Louis, who are already missing her. She
especially enjoyed "hanging with" her many friends.  Special among them were good friends
Jurgeon Sinn and Kyle Calderone. Extra precious to Lanie was the time she had with her
cherished friend Cameron "Cam" Fagg.
She is survived by her loving mother, Jacqueline Sue Drummy of Terre Haute, her father,
Alan Kim Roby, and will be greatly missed by her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Shannon Roby, and her many aunts, uncles, and cousins. On her mother's side: William
Drummy and Jamie MacDonald, Mark Drummy, Robin Drummy and Mark Feider, Emily and
Jim Canon, and Ryan Drummy, all of Terre Haute; Dianne and Robert Stephens of
Bethesda, Md.; Babette and John Bolinger of Brazil; and John and Debbie Drummy of
Indianapolis; and cousins, Erin, Becky and Brian Drummy; Scott, Dan and Ryan Stephens;
Sam and Ira Drummy; Devin, Frieda, and Maureen Crispin and Sara Sproul and Jason
Bolinger; Will, Gretchen and Brooke Mansard; and Matthew, Sarah and Michael Drummy.
On her father's side: Teri and Kenneth Morse, of Bradenton, Fla., and cousins John

Alana was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mary Farr of Florida, Lillian Hubenthal
Drummy and Dr. William W. Drummy, both of Terre Haute, and her infant cousin, Mark
William Bolinger.

on Wednesday, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, before the services at 11 a.m. Burial
will be at the side of her grandmother, Lillian Drummy, at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Dust, Robert L.    

CLINTON — Robert L. Dust, 74, of Clinton, passed away at 1:58 p.m. on April 21, 2010, in
Union Hospital of Clinton. He was born on April 27, 1935, to Leo Barney Dust and Stella
Mae Vestal Dust. He would have been 75 on Tuesday. He was in the U.S. Army. He was
married to Delores "Dee" and she passed away on May 1, 1999, and he is now with his
beloved wife. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a machinist at
Terre Haute Castings and later worked at NAPA in Clinton. He was a member of the Higher
Ground Christian Church. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals. NASCAR, and enjoyed
gardening. He also loved to attend his great-grandkid's ballgames.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Steve (Kim) Dust of Terre Haute and Bob (Lynn) Dust of
Rockville; one daughter, Peggy Joy of Clinton; and a special sister-in-law, Peggy (Ross)
Didier of Terre Haute; nine grandchildren, Randy Joy (Corie), Bobbi Little, Joseph Dust,
Amanda Dust (Doug), Christopher Dust, Jessi Dust, Crystal Taylor, Casey Dust, and
Jessica Llewellyn; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Erma Rush of Fishers; and one
brother, Frank Dust of Clinton.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, at Frist Funeral Home, 458 Blackman St., in Clinton.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Rissler
officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Cemetery.
Conner, Bonnie J.    

Bonnie J. Conner, 83, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday morning, April 22, 2010, at
Springhill Village Nursing Home. She was born on Nov. 11, 1926, in Terre Haute, to John
and Dora (Baylor) Skelly. She was a homemaker for much of her lifetime and really enjoyed
cooking for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Conner; a son, Larry
Conner; and a daughter, Barbara Ann Conner Anderson.
Surviving are a son, Richard Conner Sr. and wife Danette of Martinsville, Ind.; a special
daughter-in-law, Kelly Conner and her boyfriend Brad Sears; a son-in-law, Bernard
Anderson and wife Sandy of Terre Haute; one grandson, Richard Conner Jr. and wife
Michelle; four great-grandchildren, Alexis, Christian, Brett, and Brendon Conner, all of
Indianapolis; a sister, Della Rayhel and husband Earl; sister-in-law, Dorothy Skelly; and a
niece, Mary Morris, all of Terre Haute.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 26, 2010, from 1 to 3 p.m. in Roselawn Funeral Home,
7500 N. Clinton St. Services will be at 3 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. John Turner
officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
Young, Amanda Ruth    

Amanda Ruth Young, 20, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Terre
Haute Regional Hospital. She was born on July 17, 1989, in Terre Haute, to Michael Young
and Debbie (Joseph) Rainbolt.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Stephens of Bloomington; her mother and
stepfather, Debbie and Ray Rainbolt; father, Michael Young; stepbrother, Daniel Rainbolt,
all of Terre Haute; and stepsister, Christina Rainbolt of Greencastle. Also surviving is her
paternal grandmother, Lorene Young; aunts and uncles, Sharon Dalton of Melbourne, Fla.,
Kenny and Judy Joseph, Marilyn Morris and Carolyn Nicoson, all of Terre Haute, Nancy and
Cary Kaifesh of Carson City, Nev., Doug Joseph of Dover, Ohio, Sam and Helen Young of
Terre Haute, Susan and Alan Erickson, and Elizabeth Schrock, all of West Lafayette; and
several cousins.
Mandy was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Hughey and Mary Ruth
Joseph; paternal grandfather, Richard Young; and one aunt, Shirley Bovenschen.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 26, 2010, from noon to 4 p.m. in Roselawn Funeral Home,
7500 N. Clinton St. Services will be 4 p.m. Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Kyle
Andrews officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
Watkins, Marjorie Black    

Marjorie Black Watkins, 85, passed away at Methodist Hospital on April 15, 2010. She was
born Nov. 23, 1924, in Terre Haute, and graduated from Wiley High School in 1942.
Marjorie was employed by Marshall, Batman, & Day, as a legal secretary for 35 years. Her
first husband, William K. Fowlkes, a U.S. Army Air Force B-24 pilot, was killed in World War
II. She later met and married Navy Petty Officer Roy W. Watkins, a marriage that lasted 46
years, and he preceded her in 1993.
She also was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Russell; and brother, Dean Black. She
is survived by her son, Robert K. Watkins; grandsons, Timothy, Aaron, and Eric Watkins;
great-grandchildren, Ashley, Brooklynn, and A.J.; nieces, Janet Barnes and Debbie Russell;
nephew, John Russell; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
She enjoyed working in the yard in the summer, and feeding the birds and one special
squirrel all winter. She rescued many stray cats that seemed to find their way to her
doorstep, having them neutered or spayed, and finding homes for them or keeping the shy
or hard to place ones herself.
She was the perfect grandmother. She always had freshly baked cookies ready for hungry
grandchildren. She cooked a big family dinner every weekend, and in the summer planned
family picnics in the various Indiana parks. Her fried chicken and made-from-scratch Red
Velvet Cake were legend among family and friends.
Her wit and joy for life will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She lived a life
she believed God would approve, and we know she is with him now.
A memorial service in her honor will be announced at a later date. Arrangements handled
by Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Royster-Askin-Sandrock Chapel.
Butts, Luella A.    

Luella A. Butts, 92, of Terre Haute, passed away April 25, 2010, in her residence. Born
Dec. 31, 1917, in Casey, Ill., she was the daughter of William Curtis Cribelar and Tressie
Maude (Odell) Cribelar. She married Loren Butts on June 11, 1949, and he survives. Luella
had worked for more than 25 years at Hillman's Jewelers. She was a member of Maplewood
Christian Church and a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, where she had been an
officer in many different positions. She also enjoyed cake decorating.
Survivors include her husband of more than 60 years, Loren Butts; a son, Mark Butts and
wife Shelley of Tennessee; two grandchildren, Jani Adams and husband Kevin of Terre
Haute, and Melissa Pastore and husband Louis of Noblesville; three great-grandchildren,
Kevin Adams of Terre Haute, Brody Pastore and Kennedy Pastore, both of Noblesville; and
several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St. Services are
10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Craig Wininger officiating.
Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Naliborski, Norma Evelyn    

Norma Evelyn Naliborski, 88, of Terre Haute, passed away at 10:55 p.m. Monday, April 26,
2010, at Royal Oaks Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Nov. 11, 1921,
in York, Ill., to Roscoe and Marie Wetherell. She was a homemaker her whole life.
She is survived by one son, Ronald Naliborski and wife Judy of Terre Haute; one daughter,
Norma Fultz and husband Bob of Terre Haute; two grandsons, Ronald Naliborski and wife
Diana of Findlay, Ohio, and Gerald Naliborski and wife Janet of Woodbury, Minn.; and four
great-grandsons, Evan, Erik, Duane, and Benjamin; one sister, Irene Auten of West Terre
Haute; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, whom she married June 10, 1941, he
passed away May 10, 1999; her parents; one brother, Robert Wetherell; and one sister,
Edith Torpy.
Services will be private, with the Rev. Bill Herb officiating. Mattox-Wood Funeral Home is
entrusted with arrangements.
Jeffers, Mary Louise    

Mary Louise Jeffers, 90, of Farmersburg, died at 5:10 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2010, at
Breckinredge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Sullivan. Born in Vigo County on March
14, 1920, she was the daughter of Emery and Ollie (Hazlett) Keegan. She was a
homemaker and a longtime member of Friendship Baptist Church in Farmersburg.  
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Carolyn and Ronald Taylor of
Farmersburg, and Patty and Allen Berry of Paris, Ill.; one brother, Carl Keegan; five sisters,
Tressie Stutsman, Violet Steward, Charlotte Pound, Joy Edwards, and Marjorie Long; five
grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A
granddaughter preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her husband,
William H. Jeffers, in 1974; a sister, Ruby Pierce; and brothers, Walter Keegan, Emery
Keegan Jr., and Elvin Keegan.  
Funeral services will be in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, at 11 a.m.
Thursday, April 29, 2010, with the Rev. Gary Fox officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn
Memorial Park. Friends may call on today from 5 to 9 p.m., and one hour prior to services
on Thursday.
