Watson, David M.
David M. Watson, 28, of Louisville, Ky., died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008. He was a native of
Terre Haute. He was a 1998 graduate of Jeffersontown High School and was employed at
Meijer Store in the receiving department.Survivors include his parents, Joseph W. Watson
and Lisa (Hill) Watson of Georgetown; two sisters, Melissa Smith and Elizabeth Watson;
brother, Matthew J. Watson; grandparents, Mary and Wayne Watson and Gayle
Robertson; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday in
Thomas Funeral Home, 2200 North 13th Street, with the Rev. Darvin Winters Officiating.
Visitation is 2 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park in
Terre Haute.

Frey, Harry E.
Harry E. Frey, 94, of Terre Haute, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, in the Waters of Clinton.
He was a retired radio and television newscaster. Harry was born Dec. 31, 1913, in Terre
Haute, to Harry Fred Frey and Maude Callie Isbell Frey. Harry married Dorothy Castle in
1935, and she preceded him in death in 1990. He then married Ruby Stableton Frey who
survives him.Harry is also survived by his sons, Eric Frey and his wife Denise of Terre
Haute and Bruce Frey and his wife Pat of Vincennes; stepgrandchildren, Brad Stott and
his wife Jill, Brian Stott and his wife Debra and Ben Stott and his wife Tricia; grandchildren,
Jennifer Barry and her husband Kevin, Eric Frey II and his wife Cindy, Sarah Frey,
Jonathan Frey and his wife Jaime, Amy McDonald, Bruce Frey II and his wife Scottie, and
JoEllen Klatt and her husband Keith; and 24 great-grandchildren. Harry was a musician
from 1932 to 1942, a radio announcer from 1942 to 1955, in furniture sales from 1955 to
1958, radio sales and news from 1958 to 1962, and then in television news until
retirement. He also served as administrative assistant to Mayor Pete Chalos. Harry was a
member of the Downtown Terre Haute Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow,
past president of the Lions Club, the Elks Club, and a Sagamore of the Wabash Valley. He
was inducted into the Indiana Broadcasters Hall of Fame and the Wabash Valley Musicians
Hall of Fame. Harry enjoyed antiques, sports cars, Indy 500 badges and flasks.Funeral
services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, in Callahan and Hughes
Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Judge Phillip I. Adler officiating. Burial will be in
Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008. The

Traverse Jr., George W.
George W. Traverse Jr., 84, of Terre Haute, died at 5:10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2008. He
was born in Terre Haute, on Oct. 4, 1924, the son of George W. and Zelpha (Barnes) was
born in Terre Haute, on Oct. 4, 1924, the son of George W. and Zelpha (Barnes)
Traverse. He was a truck driver having been employed by Lovelace Trucking, Borden Milk
Company and Commercial Motor Freight. He was a veteran of World War II and was a
member and past commander of Krietenstein American Legion Post 346 and a member of
the Veterans of Foreign Wars 972. His wife, Hermina (Bartlett) Traverse, preceded him in
death in 1989. He also was preceded by a daughter, Janice Traverse in 1988; and a
sister, Violet Plasse.Survivors include his daughters, Suzette Sancedio, Georgia Rogers,
Mary Campbell, Sandy Cesinger, Zelpha Shattuck, Evelyn Helton and Sally Traverse. He
had several grandchildren and great-grandchi!dren.Services are 10 a.m. Thursday in
Roselawn Chapel of Memories with military rites by American Legion Post 346.

Becker, Mary L.
Mary L. Becker, 92, of Terre Haute died at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008. She was
born May 17, 1916, in Casey, Ill., to Verne and Edith Gehl Pate. She retired after 40 years
of service as a stenographer with Beneficial Finance Company. Her husband, Roy Becker,
preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 2004. She and her husband were instrumental in the
organization and very active supporters of Happiness Bag Players.Survivors include a
daughter, Cynda Lou Becker; special friends, Linda and Phillip Porter; and three
nephews, Rob Pate and wife Debra, Randy Pate and wife Sandra, all of Florida, and Larry
Pate and wife Barbara of California; and many special friends.Services are noon Saturday
at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, with Mark Grayless officiating.
Entombment is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 10 a.m. until services Saturday.

Bartlett, Carolyn Ruth
Carolyn Ruth Bartlett, 70, of Rosedale, passed away Tuesday evening, Dec. 2, 2008, at
VCC in Clinton. She was born March 12, 1938, in East St. Louis, Ill., to Carl and Helen
Sheroky. Carolyn loved to travel in earlier years. She is survived by her husband, Gary
Bartlett, whom she married June 10, 1972; a daughter, Kathryn Stewart of Terre Haute; a
stepdaughter, Myra Jeffers and her husband Larry Hemsley of Lafayette; grandchildren,
Kelli Murrell of Atlanta, Ryan Murrell, Sean Stewart, and Steven Jeffers, all of Terre Haute,
and Kristina Ervin of Rosedale;a sister-in-law, Sandy Meadlo and husband Larry of West
Terre Haute; a sister, Wilma Koesterer and husband Michael of Bloomington, Ill.; a
sister-in-law, Darlene Sheroky of Collinsville, Ill.; nieces and nephews, Tim and Robin
Garrett, Tracy and Doug McKeinney, Dawn Motta, Melissa and Dave Walter, Kristopher
and Kristina Koesterer, Karla Koesterer, and Brett Sheroky; and eight great-nieces and
great-nephews; and a great-granddaughter, Julianna Ervin. She was preceded in death
by her parents; a brother, Norman Sheroky; and a son, Lewis Herron. Services are 2 p.m.

Sparks, Robert L.
Robert L. Sparks, 79, of Terre Haute, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, in
Westridge Nursing Center in Terre Haute. He was born on June 8, 1929, in Clay County,
the son to Everett Sparks and Erma (Holston) Sparks. He married Betty J. Howell and she
survives. Robert retired after 18 years at Hulman and Company and 23 years at Pillsbury.
His hobbies included fishing, camping and woodworking especially in redbirds. His friends
knew him as “Sparkie.” He loved his family and spending time with his grandkids and
great-grandkids. He was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church.Survivors
includes his wife of 53 years, Betty Sparks; two daughters, Karen Younts and husband
Don of Little Rock, Ark., and Brenda Caton and husband Robert of Terre Haute; five
grandchildren, Laura Crowder and husband Landon of Little Rock, Ashlee Cottrell and
husband Ben, Leslee Caton and companion Adam Cottrell, Kyle Caton, and Kody Caton,
all of Terre Haute; two great-grandchildren, Macy Crowder of Little Rock and Makayla
Cottrell of Terre Haute; a sister, Wanda Marlow and husband Stanley of Jasonville; and
several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and mother-in-

Lorton, Bradley E.
Bradley E. Lorton, 85, of Brandenburg, Ky., and formerly of Vigo County, died Thursday,
Dec. 4, 2008. Mr. Lorton was a native of Vigo County, Ind., and a retired educator with
the Vigo County School Corporation. He also was a World War II veteran.He was
preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia; and infant son, Greg.Survivors include his
wife, Leona Gaines Montgomery Lorton; son, Bradley Eric Lorton; three stepchildren, Ron
(Sheri) Montgomery, Lee Ann (John David) McCoy and Nancy (Steve) Orr; nine
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7,

Fields, Carolyn J.
Carolyn J, Fields, 74, of Terre Haute passed away Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at Union
Hospital. She was born May 19, 1934, in Decatur, Ill., to Arthur Phelps and Leona
Johnson Phelps. She retired from working at General Housewares, after many years of
service.She attended Maplewood Christian Church. She loved playing euchre, and
always did the puzzles in the daily newspaper. Her family was her greatest love. Carolyn
was a member of the American Legion Post 346 Ladies Auxiliary.Survivors include her
husband, Jerry Fields, whom she married in 1973; four children, Connie Wilson and
husband Jim, and Rick Barlow, all of Terre Haute, Mechell Botts and husband Glenn of
Palm Bay, Fla., and Zach Lookebill of Terre Haute; stepchildren, Jerry Fields Jr. and wife
Suzanne of Terre Haute, Garry Fields and his friend Bob of Indianapolis, Don Fields and
wife Jody of Frankfort, and Glenn Fields of Terre Haute. Other survivors include
grandchildren, John, Nicki, and Michael Lookebill, all of Hobe Sound, Fla., Ryan Barlow

Snell, Vivian J. Orth
Vivian J. Orth Snell, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008. She was a
beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother (G.G.). She was born
on Dec. 27, 1918, to the late Vivian Sorrels and John Johnson in Jackson, Miss.Vivian will
be missed dearly by her daughters, Carol Harrah and husband David of Terre Haute and
Paula Schenck and husband Dan of Clarkston, Mich.; stepsons, Ron Snell and partner
Jimmie Williams of Minneapolis, Alan Snell and wife Terry of Indianapolis, Tom Snell and
wife Linda of Arden, N.C.; stepdaughters, Deanna Wells and husband Larry of
Greencastle, Joyce Thompson and husband Ray of Bargersville; 18 dearly loved
grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; her sister, Ann Duncan; and two brothers,
John Johnson and Emery Johnson.Vivian is preceded in death by her parents; and
siblings, Ike Johnson, Phil Johnson and Frances Ash.Vivian was married for 29 years to
the late John Paul Orth. They enjoyed spending the summers at their cabin on Diets Lake
with their daughters and friends. Paul passed away in 1967. In 1975, she married the late
Maurice Kibbe Snell. They were “snowbirds” traveling to Lakeland, Fla., every winter to
enjoy numerous recreational activities with friends and family.Vivian was a longtime
member of First United Methodist Church. She loved church and expressed her faith by
teaching Sunday School and serving on various committees. The past 10 years she was
a member of Northside United Methodist Church. She was a skilled seamstress and
enjoyed making clothes and treasures for all of her family. She was an avid reader, loved
playing cards and dominos. Everyone always looked forward to a game with Vivian or
receiving a sweet note in the mail from her. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. today, in Roselawn
Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St. Services are immediately following with the Rev. Alan

Sanders, Mildred L.
CLINTON — Mildred L. Sanders, 85, of Clinton, passed away at 9:09 p.m. Saturday, Dec.
6, 2008, in Union Hospital. She was born on July 1, 1923, in Vermillion County, the
daughter of George William Sanders and Mary Ann Somes Sanders. She worked for
Indiana Bell for over 31 years before her retirement. She was a member of Victory Baptist
Church, Telephone Pioneers of America and Clinton Lunch Bunch.Survivors include her
nieces, Linda Lou Sanders Gosnell and her husband Thomas Jefferson Gosnell of
Clinton, Amanda Dowell and Amber Gosnell; nephews, James Sanders and William Lee

MONTEZUMA — Doyne Bord, 71, of Montezuma, died at 3:02 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 7,
2008, at her residence. She was born July 25, 1937, in Coloma, to the Rev. T. Walters
and Marselene Richardson Walters.Survivors include her husband, John Bord, whom she
married Dec. 20, 1957, in Montezuma; a son, Mark Bord and wife Mary of Montezuma;
two sisters, Mona Nickle and husband Duane of Montezuma, and Martha Putnam and
husband Arthur of North Fort Myers, Fla.; a brother, Anthony Walters and wife Gloria of
Montezuma; a grandson, Darin Bord of Clinton; and a granddaughter, Tara Bord of
Montezuma. She was a member of Montezuma Chapter 537 Order of the Eastern Star,
and Hilmon Fire Department Auxiliary.Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral

Abbinett, Thomas Harry S.
Thomas Harry S. Abbinett, 81, of Quincy, and formerly of Terre Haute, passed away
Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born Jan. 9, 1929,
in Terre Haute, to Thomas W. Abbinett and Margaret A. DeCamp Abbinett. He married
Diana Dawn Sedgwick, and she preceded him in death. He served in the U.S. Army
during World War II, and worked as a train dispatcher for the New York Central Railroad.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Bradt and husband Edward of Quincy;
six grandchildren, Edward A. Bradt, Thomas G. Bradt, and Michael Bradt, all of Quincy,
Angela Abbinett, of Florida, Jennifer Stines and husband Christopher, Indianapolis, and
Sandra Britt and husband Dustin of Franklin; a great-grandchild, Taryn Browning, Fla.; a
sister, Virginia Ann Olson of Dearborn, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews. He also
was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas Michael Abbinett; and grandson,
Thomas Gregory Abbinett. There are no services scheduled. Burial will be in Roselawn

Rogers Sr., George H.
George H. Rogers Sr., 85, of Terre Haute died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at Terre Haute
Regional Hospital. He formerly was a real estate agent with Newlin-Johnson Co. Inc. He
was born March 27, 1923, in Nashville, Tenn., to George H. Rogers and Verna Bryson
Rogers.Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Helen Marie Rogers; a son, George
Rogers, Jr. and his wife Patti of Avon; a sister, Carolyn Hadar of Stuart, Fla.; a brother,
William Rogers and his wife Vernice of Terre Haute; a granddaughter, Lauren Rogers of
Avon; and several nieces and nephews. His parents, and a brother, James P. Rogers
preceded him in death.George was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served
during World War II. He was a member of St. Mark United Church of Christ, Scottish Rite
Valley of Terre Haute, Zorah Shrine, Terre Haute Lodge 19 Free and Accepted Masons,
Loyal Order of Moose, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972, and Kiwanis Club. He also
played banjo with the Zorah Shrine Band and the Sycamore Strummers. Funeral services
will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at Callahan and Hughes Funeral
Home, 605 S. 25th St., with the Rev. Carly Strucklen Sather officiating. Burial will follow in
Roselawn Memorial Park, with military rites conducted by VFW Post 972. Visitation is
scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m., with a Masonic memorial

Meeks, Thomas Christopher
Thomas Christopher Meeks, 43, of Terre Haute, went to be with the Lord and his
parents, Lester and Betty Meeks on Monday, Dec. 8, 2008. Tom was an employee with
the Vigo County School Corporation for 14 years.Survivors include one son, Matthew
Meeks; Tom’s ex-wife, Karen, who was a friend to Tom until the end of his life. She was a
very supportive person to Tom; two brothers, Clifford and Mark Meeks; and five sisters,
Mary Debra, Karen, Peggy and Tina.Tom loved to fish with his son, Matthew, who Tom
love with all his heart. Tom was the operations manager for Pete Tanoos at JPA Security
and Surveillance services for three years, where he was an excellent investigator and
very good friend. There was nothing Tom would not do for someone.Graveside services
are 1 p.m. Friday in Roselawn Memorial Park with Pastor Jeff Lee officiating. Pallbearers
are Mark and Matthew Meeks, Pete, Jacob, Peter II and Alec Tanoos. May Tom’s
memory be eternal.

Jacso, Lucy M.
Lucy M. Jacso, 75, of Terre Haute, died at 1:20 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, in her
residence. She was born on Feb. 15, 1933, in Indianapolis, to Harold Young and Marian
Siebert-Young. She was a homemaker.Survivors include her husband, Paul, whom she
married May 25, 1957; two daughters, Lucinda Grove and her husband Robbie of
Jamul, Calif., and Laurinda Johnson and her husband Robert of Columbia, Md.; two
sons, Jeffrey Jacso and his wife Kathy and James Jacso and his wife Lorie, all of Terre
Haute; nine grandchildren, Joanna, Brandie, Jackie, Olivia, Ciara, Ryan, Paul Robert,
Kendal and Kayla; and one great-grandchild, Anthony Johnson. She was preceded in
death by her parents.She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Clinton and Sacred

Martin, Michael F. "Frank"
Michael F. “Frank” Martin, 86, of Terre Haute, died at 11:52 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13,
2008, in his residence. He was born on Dec. 21, 1921, in Memphis, Tenn., to James
Michael Martin and Madie Reagan Martin. Survivors include his wife, Joan Vandevier
Martin, whom he married March 26, 1951; one son, James M. Martin; one daughter, Sue
Ann Dunham and husband Dennis; two brothers, James H. Martin and Charles Martin
and wife Rosalie; one sister, Madie Abner and husband David Lynn; five grandchildren,
Beth Armentrout, Melissa Chessir and husband Travis, Jessica Cooper and husband
John, Korri Martin, and Jimmy Martin; four great-grandchildren, Madalynn Armentrout,
Emma Armentrout, Kailee Cooper and Kameron Cooper; mother-in-law, Thelma
Vandevier; one brother-in-law, Earl R. Vandevier wife Joan; and several nieces and
nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; and one granddaughter, Jennifer
Dunham. He was a veteran of U.S. Army Air Corps of World War II. He attended St.
Benedict Catholic Church and was a member of Terre Haute Elks Club. He was an avid
bowler and golfer. He also enjoyed fishing with his good friend, Bernie Wallace and
enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services

Kasameyer, Bruce A.
Bruce A. Kasameyer, 67, of Terre Haute, died Saturday afternoon, Dec. 13, 2008 in
Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He had formerly owned and operated Kasameyer Glass
Company before retiring in the early 1990s and most recently managed the pro shop at
Rea Park Golf Course. He was born Aug. 10, 1941, in Terre Haute to Raymond
Kasameyer and Noreen Hayes Kasameyer. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Paula
Nelson Kasameyer; his two daughters with his former wife, Joan Kasameyer, Susan
Northrop and her husband Larry of Papillion, Neb., and Karen Angermeier and her
husband Mike of Yellowstone National Park, Wyo.; one stepson, Jonathan Abbot and his
wife Dawn of Plainfield; three stepdaughters, Jyl Madlem and her husband Bill of
Greenwood, Juli Inman and her husband Dave of Port St. John, Fla., and Jona Rector of
Bloomington; his former wife, Joan Kasameyer of Terre Haute; three grandchildren, Kira
Northrop, Alison Angermeier and Andrea Angermeier; and eight stepgrandchildren,
Jonnie Abbot, Katie Madlem, Abbie Madlem, Lily Inman, Sebastian Cunningham, Nate
Pogue, Mack Pogue and Sydney Pogue.Bruce was well known in the Terre Haute area
as an avid golfer and bowler. He was especially active at the Elks Club and for many
years, he loved providing 4th of July fireworks there and other pyrotechnic activities at
various events throughout the area. He was a member of the Riley Lions Club and
Sycamore Club, was a volunteer fireman and former chief of the Riley Volunteer Fire
Department and had been a Vigo County Sheriff's Department Special Deputy. Bruce
was a graduate of Wiley High School and had attended Indiana State University.Funeral

James “Jim” Arthur Summers, 67, of Terre Haute, died peacefully from complications of
pneumonia and passed on to his Heavenly home Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, in Terre
Haute Regional Hospital. He retired from Columbia Enameling and the construction
industry. Jim was born on Sept. 8, 1941, in Terre Haute, to Arthur Lee Summers and
Dorthea Edna Wilson Summers. Jim is survived by his mother; children, Troy Summers
of Terre Haute, Pam Norman of Lakeland, Fla., Jamie Elkins and husband Scott of Terre
Haute; sisters, Karen Tuberosa, Beverly Gurchiek and husband Duane, Debra Pine and
Toni Orman and husband Terry, all of Terre Haute; 11 grandchildren; one great-
grandchild; several nieces and nephews, who loved their “Uncle Jimmy”; and several
other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father; his
grandparents, Derle and Ruth Wilson and George and Elsie Summers; a niece, Cheryl
Pine; and a nephew, Steven Gurchiek. Jim was truly a loving and giving person who will
be sadly missed by all who knew him.Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m.

Donna Jean Cumbow Bogetto Busenbark, 61, of Clinton, went home to be with her Lord
at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, in her residence surrounded by her family. She
was born on Feb. 23, 1947, in Whipple, W. Va., to James Elwood and Pearl Williams
Cumbow James and Roy James. She was co-owner of Countryside TV and Appliances
and a longtime employee of Clinton Ford-Mercury Sales.She attended First United
Methodist Church and was a graduate of Clinton High School class of 1965, and was a
member of Phi Beta Psi Sorority and Jobs Daughters. She was a loving wife, mother,
grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed working in her yard with all her flowers,
loved spending time with her grandchildren, cooking for family and enjoyed her cat,
Flamingo.She was preceded in death by her parents; and several aunts and
uncles.Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Gary L. Busenbark of Clinton; a son,
Donnie Lee Bogetto and his wife Michele of Clinton; two grandchildren, Cayli and Dalton
Bogetto of Clinton; and two sisters, Judith Webber and her husband Bill of Clinton and

James D. Edwards, 83, of Terre Haute, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, in Union
Hospital. He was born on March 31, 1925, in Terre Haute, to James Riley Edwards and
Jeanette (Woods) Riley. James was a U.S. Army veteran who served during World War
II. He was a life member of ARRL, AMVETS, American Legion Post 104, a life member of
Terre Haute Masonic Lodge 19 Free and Accepted Masons, a life member of Kerman
Grotto, Zorah Shrine and a member of Scottish Rite and Disabled Veterans.Survivors
include his two children, John W. Edwards and wife Cindy L. Edwards of Terre Haute,
and James D. Edwards and wife Diana L. Edwards of West Terre Haute; grandchildren,
Jamie L. Edwards and Daniel W. Neal, both of West Terre Haute, Christopher M.

Lucille M. Black Ramsey Stoops, 88, of West Terre Haute, passed away at 11:50 p.m.,
Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at her residence. She had been a co-owner of the Birch Lake
Lodge in Red Lake, Ontario, Canada, and also had been the owner of Smoke Odor
Removal Company. She was born Sept. 23, 1920, in Vigo County to Everett Black and
Mary Horton Black. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Don Ramsey; and
her second husband, Jerry Stoops.Survivors include a daughter, Judith Caveney of
West Terre Haute; a son and daughter-in-law, DuWayne and Barbara Ramsey of West
Ramsey, Alansa Caveney Ferguson, Dawn Caveney Galloway, and Jordan Galloway;
and five great-grandchildren, Megan Ramsey, Alex Caveney, Andrew Ferguson,
Kathryn Ferguson, and Robert Galloway. She also was preceded in death by a
grandson, Scott Ramsey; two sisters, Ada Idencio and Ruth Ann Hogan; and a brother,

Cox, Wayne N.
Wayne N. Cox, 81, of Terre Haute, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, in the
Union Hospital. He was born on Jan. 30, 1927, in New Goshen, the son of Roy Cox and
Belvia (Grannel) Cox. He married Margaret McCarty and she survives. Wayne served
two terms in the U.S. Navy during World War II and also the Korean War. He worked for
over 36 years for the Wonder Bread Company in delivery. His hobbies included golf,
bowling and gardening. Survivors include his wife of 58 years; two sons, Robert W. Cox
and wife Patti of Clinton and Mark A. Cox and wife Luann of Yorba Linda, Calif.; two
daughters, Linda J. Cox and husband Randy and Cathy A. Cox and husband Byron, all
of Terre Haute; 11 grandchildren, Angela S. Cox Benton and husband Chris of Clinton,
Alan L. Loudermilk, Michelle Loudermilk Davidson and husband Kyle, Kenny W. Cox and
wife Christina, Patrick R. Bemis and Jordan T. Bemis, all of Terre Haute, Samantha L.

PIMENTO — Ernest Wild, 93, of Pimento, passed away at 3:13 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18,
2008, in Union Hospital. He was a co-owner of Wild’s Farm Equipment. He was born on
Dec. 26, 1914, in Vigo County, to Ludwig Wild and Bertha (Herrmann) Wild.He is
survived by a brother, Albert Wild (Laura) of Terre Haute; nieces and nephews, Stephen
Wild, Andrea Goodwin, Mary Casey, Robert Bauers, Myrna Ulrich, Arlene Freeman,
William Wild Jr., Fred Wild, Janice Deboer, Judy Rush, Tina Shelton, Alyson Reed and
David Austin; and extended family.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife,
Christina Wild, who died May 2, 1993; a brother, William Wild; and a sister, Louise
Bauers. He enjoyed farming, gardening and watching the purple martins he so enjoyed.

JASONVILLE — David L. McCullough, 73, of Jasonville, died at 2:13 a.m. Monday, Dec.
22, 2008, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. He was born Sept. 6, 1935, in
Clay County, to Melvin McCullough and Dorothy Brush McCullough. He was a computer
operator with Columbia House, and had worked there for 40 years. He married Patricia
M. Johnson McCullough, on Sept. 28, 1957.Survivors include his wife, Pat; three
daughters, Cindy Miller and husband Gary of Center Point, Jill Quick and husband Gary
of Fort Wayne, and Melody McCullough of Indianapolis; two sisters and brothers-in-law,
Elaine and David McBride of Spencer, and Jane and David Everhart of Riley; one
brother and sister-in-law, Elden and Vinita McCullough of Lewis; grandchildren. Ryan
Lewis and Nichole, Griffin and Ross Quick, Gary Miller Jr., Jason Miller, and Tracey
Murray; a great-grandchild, Riley Lewis; and six stepgreat-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his parents.He attended First Baptist Church in Linton, and also

Phyllis E. Sanquenetti, 82, of Terre Haute, died at 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, in
Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was a homemaker. She was born on July 9, 1926, in
Casey, Ill., to William Lown and Ruth (Alexander) Lown. She is survived by her husband
of 53 years, William Sanquenetti; a daughter, Peggy Ann Abram (Jim) of Indianapolis; a
son, Jeffrey Alan Sanquenetti (Martha) of Fishers; a sister, Doris VanDeventer of Terre
Haute; two grandchildren, Sean Abram and Holly Abram; one great-granddaughter,
Addison Abram; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marlene and James Brown; two
nieces, Susan VanDeventer and Kelly Brown; two nephews, Larry Van Deventer and
Steve Van Deventer; and two cousins. She was preceded in death by one son, Gregory
Lee; and her parents, Ruth and Bill.She was a member of Eight Avenue Baptist Church
and the Women's Missionary Group. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and crocheting.

Joseph Marvin Cain, 81, of Bay St. Louis, Miss., and formerly of Terre Haute, passed
away on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Biloxi, Miss., after
a short battle with lung cancer. He was born on March 21, 1927, to Lemuel Cain and
Gladys Murray Cain. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.Survivors include his wife,
Darlene Malley Cain; his son Patrick Cain of Pass Christian, Miss.; two brothers, William
and Richard Cain; three grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces.He

Mary J. Kellams Leith, 87, departed in Ellisville, Mo., on Friday, Dec. 19, 2008. She was
the loving wife of 53 years to the late James L. Leith. Mary worked for 15 years as a
cook with the Vigo County School Corp. before her retirement. She was the beloved
mother of Marilyn (Jerry) Supp, James E. (Debbie) Leith and John W. (Carol) Leith;
dearest grandmother of Stephanie (Gene) Beckmann, Lynn (Chris) Porras, Michael
(Katie) Supp and Tim (Meredith) Leith; and dear great-grandmother of Christopher and
Bradley Beckmann, Nicholas, Sydney and Jack Porras and Morgan Leith. Services are

Hippleheuser, Ruth E.
Ruth E. Hippleheuser, 81, of Terre Haute, died in her residence at Wyndmoor
Retirement Community on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008. She was born in Vigo County, on
Feb. 19, 1927, to Asa and Anna (Owen) Risinger. She graduated from Prairie Creek
High School and worked in the purchasing office at Quaker Maid for many years and
later was the bookkeeper for the Meadows Pharmacy.She was preceded in death by her
parents; five brother-in-laws; and a sister-in-law.She is survived by her husband of 50
years, Robert L. Hippleheuser; one son, Alan L. Hippleheuser of Fort Wayne and
Indianapolis; her sisters, Doris Kruzan of Terre Haute, Esther Spires of Marshall, Ill., and
Mildred L. Taylor of Johnson City, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.She was
active in Beta Sigma Phi sorority for many years and was very active at the Elks Club
when her husband served as Exalted Ruler. She was an auto race fan following both
Indy Car and NASCAR cars to many of the tracks throughout the racing circuits. She
was an avid dancer and had done ballroom dancing exhibition with the Arthur Murray
Studio tours.Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Saturday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E.

Melvin Wayne Hughes Sr., 85, of Terre Haute, went to be with the Lord at 7:50 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008. He was born on July 23, 1923, in Sullivan County, Ind., to
Jesse Hughes and Mayme Taylor Hughes. He was a retired truck driver for Commercial
Motor Freight and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his son, Melvin
Hughes Jr. and wife Terri; two daughters, Patsy Stevenson and husband Tom, and
Sandy Wood and husband Terry; two stepsons, Clyde Todd and wife Ivy and Earl Todd
and wife Robin; one stepdaughter, Karen Powell and husband Robert; one brother,
Paul Hughes; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and
great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Wilson Hughes,
who died March 9, 1976; three brothers; and two sisters. Funeral services are 1:30 p.m.

Moore, Hope Rosalie
Hope Rosalie Moore, 89, of Terre Haute, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, in
Union Hospital. She was born on Aug. 19, 1919, in Otter Creek Township, the daughter
of Lloyd M. Ruszler and May C. (Myer) Ruszler. She married Capt. Joseph T. Moore
and he preceded her. Hope graduated from Garfield High School and attended Indiana
State Teachers College. She was employed at Vigo County Farm Bureau, Eastern
Express, ASC Office and retired from Bemis Corporation in 1985, after 20 years. She
was a member of the Clinton Christian Church, CFW, Loyal Hearts, Clinton Public
Library Book Review Group, North Terre Haute Christian Church, Prime Time,
Jerusalem Chapter 25 Order of Eastern Star, Sandcut Firemans Auxiliary and Sandcut
Ladies Club.Survivors includes her brothers, Lloyd M. Ruszler and wife Betty Jean of
Goodyear, Ariz., John. Ruszler and wife Florence of Somonauk, Ill., and Paul R. Ruszler
Blacksburg, Va.; a sister, Merza M. Dawson of Rantoul, Ill.; 16 nieces and nephews;
many great-nieces and nephews; and an extended family, Danny and Donna King. She
was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother-in-law, Francis Dawson; and

Honor Leauna Wilson, 92, of Plainfield, and formerly of Terre Haute, passed away
Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, in Lakeview Manor Nursing Home. She was born on May 15,
1916, in Jasonville, to Emmett and Minnie Ringo Basden. Honor was a homemaker.
She was a lifetime member of the First Assembly of God Church.Survivors include her
nephew, Travis and Ruby June Houck; niece, Bonnie Basden; several stepchildren;

Viola E. Loose, 99, of Terre Haute, passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, in
Southwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Sept. 22, 1909, in
Youngstown, to Frank Schalburg and Cynthia Bogard Schalburg. Her husband of 50
years, Harry F. Loose, preceded her in death in 1985.Survivors include a great-niece,
Jo A. Wordsworth; a great-nephew, John David Wright; two great-great-nieces, Amy
Edwards and Dawn Wade; a great-great-nephew, Barry Wright; and several
generations of nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents;

McDowell, James Lynn
James Lynn McDowell, 67, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at
Union Hospital. He was born June 18, 1941, in Murphysboro, Ill., to Arthur Roscoe
McDowell and Robbie Casey McDowell. James received his Ph.D. at the University of
Illinois in Political Science, a Master of Arts in Political Science, Bachelor of Science in
Journalism at Southern Illinois University. He was a faculty member of Indiana State
University, Political Science Department from September 1967 to December 2008,
when he retired. He taught state and local government and the presidency there.
James is survived by his loving wife, Judy Garver McDowell of Terre Haute; children,
Jon W. Silver and wife Holly, James L. McDowell II “Jamie” and wife Amanda, Jennifer L.
Tyler and husband Jay, all of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Peyton and Ella Tyler,
Lauryn and Natalie Silver, and Madilynn McDowell, all of Terre Haute. Also surviving
are a brother, David McDowell and wife Denise of Murphysboro; a sister, Suellyn
Rowden and husband Gary, of Murphysboro; and several nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by his parents. Services are 10 a.m. today at Barbour Avenue
United Methodist Church, with Pastor Bob Roush officiating. Burial will follow in
Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 9 a.m. until services, at the church. In lieu of
